Just posting an idea regarding a more power/melee build for Mesmer. Usually, people go hybrid or carry some form of condition inducing weapon on their Mesmer. I love condition builds on Mesmer, but I've been willing to try out a more melee oriented fighter build for it. This past stress test I've been using a Sword/Sword + Staff build to try that out but the staff just didn't do it for me. Blocking on my Sword #4 skill also move a little too slow for my tastes due to it being an ether bolt that moved only forward.

So here we have my attempt at making a fighter capable at any distance. The common Sword/Pistol is an obvious favorite of many due to the stun + gap closing abilities it possesses. Great Sword recently got some buffs (and nerfs imo to Mind Stab) so I've been interested in seeing how well it fares. Keep in mind that most of the damage from this build will come from high critical damage.

I also want to see how well the new 2 x use of Mantras will work with Mesmer with the trait Harmonious Mantras (making Mantras 3x use including Mantra of Recovery I think?).

Stats:
  • Power: 2139
  • Attack: 3168 with S/P - 3289 with GS
  • Critical Chance: 62% with S/P - 57% with GS.
  • Critical Damage: 48%
  • Toughness: 1116
  • Vitality: 1245
  • Health: 18372
  • Armor: 2036
Runes with S/P: 2 x Superior Sigil of Accuracy for 10% critical hit chance.
Runes with GS: 1 x Superior Sigil of Accuracy for 5% critical hit chance.

Beserker's Amulet and Beserker's Jewel.

Traits are on the link. Eventually I'll get around to posting a video of the test to see how well it works out.

Thats similar to the spec I'm going to run, although yours looks like a PVE spec since you have mantra of pain instead of mantra of resolve. You need mantra of resolve in any pvp focused mantra build.

I totally forgot about that. Will most likely switch Mantra of Pain or Mantra of Distraction for it then.

Stupid build. Only a noob would use this spec.

<3 Rudie

Edit: For those confused, he is a guildy of mine, possibly even going to be on the same tPvP team. I am just giving him a hard time.

Interesting Choice going with Chaos line. This build is similar to my first build in the Theorycrating Mantras thread. Check that out. I havent updated it with the latest mantra changes, but the build didnt change.

Great vid. Your build and playstyle are nearly identical to mine. Do you ever feel the lack of stunbreaks or condition wipes?
(Talking additional mantra vs signet)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. I do ok with stun breaks, but sometimes have to switch out my signet with mantra of resolve if the team were facing is heavy into condition damage.

Nice =D. Would love to try that out. Have you tried using another mantra besides having decoy?

Yeah I've tried using all the mantras at once and swapping out decoy with mantra of concentration, but using decoy to evade a big burst is really hard to give up with my play style.

My style is eerily similar to milty's and I agree.... I cant live without decoy in my mantra build.
