With Guild Wars 2 only a week away, we thought it would be a good time to reboot our public Mumble server! This VoIP will be available free of use for the GW2 community as a whole. If your guild or PvP team is in need of a private channel, we can provide that for you as well!

Server Information

• Address: 69.164.205.88
  
• Port: 64738

Rules for our Public Channels

• No obscene usernames
  
• Do not spam the chat
  
• Language should be on a PG-13 level (same as our forum)
  
• No trolling or insulting others

Set-Up Guide

• Download Mumble from here
  
• Follow the Audio Wizard (Configure > Audio Wizard) to set up your installation
  
• Set up your Push to Talk key by going to Configure > Settings
  
  • Audio Input > Transmission: Make sure you set Transmit to Push To Talk
    
  • Once that's done, go to Shortcuts and click to add Push to Talk to bind it to a key
• For more settings, click the Advanced checkbox in the lower left-hand corner
  
• When you login to the server, right-click your name and select Register. This will prevent others from using your nickname. If you format your computer or want to use Mumble on a different computer, you will need to Export and Import your certificate using the Certificate Wizard (Configure > Certificate Wizard), otherwise you won't be able to use the nick again.
  
• Once you've joined the server, all you need to do is double-click the channel you wish to enter.

Mumble Community Moderators
We are currently looking for Community Moderators to help us moderate our public Mumble server channels. (Guild channels will be responsible for their own moderation.)

Requirements

• Those interested in helping out will need to be an active poster on Guru in good standing;
  
• You must be familiar with Mumble (setting it up, how to mute or ban someone, etc.);
  
• You must be on regularly enough that you are able to moderate when necessary

If you are interested in helping out, you can apply here and select "Zojja's Lab - Support". Please include the following in your application:

• Name
  
• Age
  
• Tell us a little about yourself
  
• Any experience you've previously had with Mumble or other VoIP software
  
• How often will you be online and available
  
• Anything else you'd like to add

Please recheck your application once it's been submitted. If your font is too small, we'll need you to edit the application yourself.

I've changed the guild and team channels thing a bit. Instead of offering password-protected channels, we'll be able to offer free Mumble servers for your guild. This increases your privacy and give you the ability to set up your server how you see fit.

Oh man, this sounds awesome and is really generous of you to offer. The biggest thing we were missing was something similar to Ventrilo/Mumble and we were still trying to work out whether or not we wanted to pay for it. I have to check with my friend first, but we'll definitely send a PM your way later.

Incidentally, there's a Mumble app available for ios - I pop on with my iPad every now and then but never find anyone online ...yet.

The main GW2Guru server instance has an arbitrary 500 user slots at the moment.

Each to their own. Personally I find Mumble to have better quality and latency. The automatic normalization of the audio and the fact that Mumble's open source is just icing on an otherwise already awesome cake.

We've had to discontinue that at the moment, unfortunately. We've signed on almost 60 guilds and we need to make sure that the server can handle it before we add any more.

Ahh, dang I knew I read about the free mumble server and now that I got a group of friends making a guild I was gonna register for one too. My fingers are crossed for plenty of bandwidth, but either way its awesome of you guys for doing this, even if I missed the boat!
