During the stress tests and weekends has anyone found any good sets or combos for armor runes for the elementalist?

Honestly runes have almost 0 impact on your build compared to amulets and traits so i dont worry about it too much. Usually i pick a rune that fits my build... ex strength for might stacking, divinity for crit dmg, dwayna for support

Not true. Runes give you far less stats (not irrelevant though)but the effects on them are quite interesting. Take forge for example: protection at 50% is a small version of our armor of earth at 50%, vampirism give you life when attacking (dont know about proc percentage though) and also give you a kind of mist form at 10% health, some other make might longer (which is REALLY interesting for might builds), dwayna give you longer regeneration (nice for support builds)...
@OP: Really depends on the build, there is no "better rune" but the ones i listed before are the ones that i probably consider more interesting.

It depends on your build.
But I don't think any of this has been carefully tested yet.
- Dwayna is a great complement to the Cleansing Water trait.
- Adventurer looks good with Evasive Arcana (or Cleansing Water).
- A mixed set of boon extenders fits well with some builds.

I don't think there is really a best rune, it definitely depends on your builds. I guess there are two approaches, either shore up your weaknesses, or enhance your strengths. If you have a lot of might from fire traits, for example, you might want Runes of Strength or Runes of the Hoelbrak. But if you have a build with good toughness but it has poor HP, like a build using Rabid Amulet, then you might want to take vitality runes which plays on your good toughness by shoring up your weak HP pool.
For what it's worth here are a few rune sets I like:
Runes of the Centaur: well rounded, offense and mobility. The bleed duration is okay since we are bound to have some bleeds even in our power builds.
Runes of the Hoelbrak: For might stacking, with a nice defensive bonus.
Runes of the Forge: Great for shoring up low toughness high vitality builds. The protection works similar to toughness in stretching your HP farther.
Runes of Earth: Alternative to Runes of the Forge for aura builds.
Runes of the Nightmare: Condition damage and duration together and a defensive proc is great when you are getting focused.
Runes of Divinity: Just well rounded, and we really benefit from every stat due to attunements. I usually use these in more direct damage/crit builds because of their inordinately high crit damage.
Unless you really want the 2/4/6 bonuses I would avoid prowess runes. Crits don't scale nearly as well as power, and the prowess runes are rather outshined by Runes of Divinity. Precisions runes might be worthwhile for builds with a lot of on crit procs, especially condition builds.

It's easy for elementalists to get Swiftness in other ways -- Elemental Attunement, Windborne Speed, even GoEH -- and likely for elementalists to stretch those with Concentration. So I'm dubious about Centaur.
A staff elementalist can have permanent AoE Swiftness without runes, let alone personal.

I found it useful so that I don't have to use those things for swiftness. For example I prefer to get protection from my GoEH if I can. I prefer to save my windborn speed for removing immobilize. Plus it makes those swiftness buffs last longer. And it buffs allies too. Specific builds might benefit more from other rune sets, but it's pretty much my go to when I don't have anything that specifically compliments my build. I've pretty much always found it useful every time I heal.

What reticuli says is true. You want to fit runes to your build to further enhance your setup. The most important thing you want is the 2-4-6 set bonuses.

I like both Earth and Dwayna as their defensiveness helps offset the squishiness of many Ele builds (near-permanent Protection and/or Regeneration offsets low health/armor nicely.) More aggressively, Divinity remains a very solid choice even with the nerfs
