TKOT is already pretty settled on Fissure of Woe It's apparently an unofficial Italian server, but since the game doesn't even Italian as a language at all, i don't think there'll be a massive issue with italian in global chat. It's definitely not been the case so far.

If we hadn't already settled on the idea and everyone was fully aware we were going FoW, i'd join you. Instead, we'll meet you on the WvW battlefield

It's highly recommended that any guild who considers RoS as their server, changes their status on Gw2Guilds.org.
This will draw other European / English speaking guilds to the server.
And Joe, you might want to add to the OP, that most of the Spanish guilds have moved to Baruch Bay since it became the offical ES server.

I started BWE1 in Ruins of Surmia because of the always hilarious "As a boy, I spent much time in these lands." quote. My guildies joined me there. During BWE2 I noticed a lot of Spanish chat, but it's not why we left. We had a new guildie incoming for BWE2 who was faced with a full server. We all joined him where he touched down: Lakeside County. We spent the rest of our beta and stress test time there and had a blast of a time.

We were very sad to see Lakeside gone from the final server list. We're not 100% decided yet, but our brave band of 5 (probably close to 14 within a few weeks of release) will most likely be heading back to the Ruins come next saturday. We haven't settled on a guild name yet, we've only decided we won't be going with our GW1 name because it's a pretty worn out joke several years past its expiration date.

My friends and I talked it over and we're considering picking Ruins of Surmia as our initial launch server now. There's not many of us but we're active and enthusiastic players. We like the idea of a small but tight-knit English-speaking server population.

This could easily be a huge success, and i really hope it does.
It's good to see that guilds are already settling down on Gw2Guilds.org, with a little optimism and enthusiasm we could easily do this.
I think a lot of guilds are looking for just what RoS might become.

We've actually been looking for something like this for a while now since WR became the Italian server.
I will look into moving our guild and alliance to the server.

RoS will most definitely be my first choice now, wasn't really keen about rolling on Gandara or Desolation because of the high population.

I just wanted to say that I was looking for exactly that: an international EU server. I really want to play with other European people and not only meet people from my home country.. I can have that all day.

Though, yeah, the place is a little bit bereft of guilds right now. Of listed guilds, anyway. Let's hope that changes.

I haven't really decided on a server yet. Out of the still existing servers I've played on Gandara and Blacktide.

Gandara seems like it will be overpopulated and Blacktide seems to have a lot of polish/russian people in the chat.

I'm not sure if this thread will change things for Ruins of Surmia....I hope so but we're just one guild wars 2 forum. I'll probably have a look at Ruins of Surmia at launch though...I do like the name but I was turned off because it always said low population.

My Alliance has decided to leave Seafarer's Rest, we have around 4 Guilds. They are gonna wait till 23/24 to make a decision.
But RoS looks like a good prospect. If there are guilds who are deciding to go RoS please contact me so you can help my alliance make up their mind and we in turn help make up your mind of going to RoS.
They're still mostly afraid that there aren't enough people in RoS.
This is NOT an invite to an alliance or anything, only an agreement to join RoS.
Though if you wish to join our alliance I will drop your name by our guild leader and he'll have a meeting with the other leaders.

Personally I really want to go RoS.

The more I think about it the more I think this unofficial english server is just what I wanted. So it would be a shame now to see this go nowhere.

That would be absolutely grand. What we need help with really is mostly spreading the word. Both about populating RoS with existing guilds and/or alliances and about our "native" guild.

Yes.

I have a feeling the big alliances will decide to switch on release-day... so they can monopolise WvW.



And that alliance will only allow russian players.

I wouldn't worry about Ruins becoming overpopulated just yet And I don't think one guild can monopolise WvWvW, no matter how big the guild.

What size guilds are we looking for? Does it matter?

It would probably be a lot easier to convince guilds below 50 members than guilds above 200 members.....although I'm only guessing that.

Any guilds below 200 are fine lol.
Although i don't mind the Southern Legion and their South African alliance, We didn't have any problem with them in Lakeside County.

What a great idea.

A European English speaking server with a lowish to medium population is exactly what I have been looking for, and I might indeed go for Ruins of Surmia. I don't know what kind of an impact threads like this could make though, but I hope RoS turns out to be a great server anyway.

I don't think it matters as long as it's a guild and not an artificial entity aiming at having the biggest possible number of "followers"

great idea, it's exactly what i'm looking for, however this will be my backup server of choice, i'm currently set on Underworld, however i might get lost in translation over there, if it gets too much i will be fleeing to Ruins of Surmia.
