I don't really mind either way, but why is it welcomed for it to not be a part of the game?

Because then you would see the famouns "afk trains". Where people pay another player for doing stuff while they just follow.
Be it leeching in WvW, tagging events, gathering nodes,...

   Also, it makes things at least a bit more difficult for the gold-farmers.

And why not a macro system with /follow /stick /sleep

Nah it's good as it is...without it
