I had seen this mentioned on another forum and asked a friend just now about it...turns out we're both uncertain.

Is the client we've been using for the GW2 betas and stressed the actual game client?  Or is the game client a separate download?

you can use the beta client to play the live game.  the only difference will be some excessive files.

It is the actual game client, you just need to keep it updated.  There will be no need to download a new client for release.
