A new interview was just posted over at Massively.

Note from Rubi: If you're relatively new to the Guild Wars world, Jeff provides a nicely detailed overview of what's been happening with Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, and the first tie-in novel. If you're a firmly established citizen of Tyria, you'll enjoy the look back, and you'll certainly enjoy the hints he drops here and there for upcoming events and reveals.

It can be found here

So there are three novels?

Yes. The first one is here, Ghosts of Ascalon. The second one is Edge of Destiny by J. Robert King, and that's going to be released at the end of the year. We've just seen the copy edit come in, and Rob just did a fantastic job. And the third book, we aren't ready to talk about yet. We're still working on that one; it's still being written.

Looks like that december release for the 2nd novel can be correct.
And it looks like there will be a new profession reveal soon. :D

Oh god... new profession reveal soon!

There are eight planned. We've revealed three of them: the warrior, the elementalist, and the ranger, and there is furious speculation on what the other five are. We are currently in the process of revealing those on the website, and there should be one more revealed before we go live at GamesCom and PAX. Before Cologne, before PAX, we'll know a fourth.

I'm gonna guess 11 August.

Freaking cool. They will reveal the fourth profession on either the 11th or 12th of August.

Hehe, Jeff basically confirmed that the Edge of Destiny's release date is the 28th of December. :D

Nah by the current pattern:
Elementalist-> Warrior= 6 weeks
Warrior ->Ranger= 5 weeks

the next will be 14th of august then 4 of september

That's on a saturday. :)

And there doesn't necessarily have to be a pattern like that, they could speed it up a bit now. I'm guessing the 5th will be announced after PAX, so not 4 September.

It would be cool if they revealed a profession at PAX, but somehow I doubt it. We'll probably have to wait until a week or so after for all of that to die down.
Got a question? Feel free to drop me a PM.

I just did transcription on this. Someone from our sister site wow.com lives in the area, so he took care of all the interviews and sent us the audio.

I was so envious that he got to hang out with Jeff Grubb, but I'll be at PAX. Can. Not. WAIT.

"There will be 5 races?" "How many classes?"

Seriously, we've known this for ages. Nice of Jeff to tell us roughly when to expect a new profession though=3

Great job as always, Rubi. So, next profession before Gamescon, that's exciting.

And did anyone notice at the end of the interview, that he seemed to invite people to write stories set in the GW world?

Quote

I recommend that for anyone who's writing fiction, who's setting it in the Guild Wars world. It's a big world. Come find a place for yourself that you're comfortable with.

Lol. I guess my,... Guess was correct! First 6 weeks, then 5 weeks, then 5 weeks, making the next reveal around the week of the 14th, indeed ^^. I hope it's the 12th, that would be a nice birthday gift :p.

Yeah, good stuff. I like how he lets us know about the testing phases. Seems they are right behind SWTOR. I am betting closed beta testing before Turkey Day.

Ooh; one more class revealed before conventions.... :D

I'd love some necromancer goodness, but if I were an MMObody with a 4 class demo cap I'd lean towards:

* Caster - elementalist
* Ranged - ranger
* Heavy melee - warrior
* Melee DPS - ?

Not to mention that, like mesmer, necromancer isn't traditionally a pick-up & play kind of class for putting in the hands of people who may not even have played GW1.

Well so far it was:
Scholar -> Soldier -> Adventurer

So next up will probably be another scholar,
I'd put my money on the mesmer

*Small spoiler alert about Ghosts of Ascalon, nothing about story, just little bit about profs*

Judging by the talk about minions, the scholar->soldier->adventurer pattern that they've done so far and the new book 'Ghosts of Ascalon'(Killeen) I'd say that you'll probably be spot on with the Necromancer guess Neenizzy.

That or they're breaking the chain and tell us what Dougal is, tho I don't think they will yet.

They vary. We want to make sure they are available for play. There may be ones that are long-term, but what long term is, we're still refining that. There may be ones that are on a relatively short time period, there may be ones that are like Easter eggs, some that will only show up at night, and some that will only show up during the day. It's basically to give you a different feeling so every time you come out of Divinity's Reach you're not fighting the same five gods.

Anyone curious about what he meant by this?

I agree on the scholar part, but if they reveal mesmer, and i'm pretty sure we all know what shadow it is, then there would be one class left on one side and 3 on the other...and the last on the did was on that side as well. *If Anet does this, then somebody Anet doesn't have a very good sense of balance, thus making it impossible to BE balanced (the game). This would probably prevent my playing the game.*

** everything between the asterisks is completely BS and completely plausible in my own silly head. Any discussion on this should lack any type seriousness, just as this part of my post does.;)

Does anyone else feel like the 4th profession reveal might be the "new" one we're all talking about.

I mean, if they offer all 4 in the demos, they're going to offer 1 of each class, which are all professions were familiar with, and there might be a chance that for the fourth they'll give something completely new to work with.

Thoughts?

Is this a typo on Massively's part, or am I going to have to role a human first and spend the next few days waiting outside Divinity's Reach for an all out brawl?
