I thought my machine was powerful. It can run preety much every game on high demanding settings.

However i have a problem loading GW2 at high performance without there being huge drops in FPS.

Im interested if Arenanet have fixed the overwhelming amount of data on the screen when theres too many characters in one area at one given time?

Honestly i love GW2 all has to offer as a game, but this is a huge drawback for me and other people claiming these technical issues.

just wait for the optimization, also new gpu drivers will be released a few weeks after release with gw2 improvements

Too many characters in one area==overwhelming amount of data on screen.
Reducing the # of chars would reduce the amount of data would solve the problem......but you can see the problem with that right?

2 things the player can do to improve the graphics lag they are experiencing:
1) upgrade their computer
2) lower their resolution and graphics settings.

2 things Arenanet can do:
1) Optimize the client to run smoother.
2) reduce the amount of players allowed in wvwvw.

1 thing Graphics card Driver developers can do:
1) tweak certain algorithms so their cards run the game more efficiently.
a) They will most likely do the best/most tweaking for their newest cards since it is in their best interest to have the consumer(you) buy a new graphics card from them.
b.) Currently Nvidia(and I'm sure AMD) are busy optimizing their newest drivers to be able to run GW2 much better.

Optimizing the client to it's best optimization still may not do much if the player is trying to run the game at highest settings with a subpar computer.

In the end though, the consumer is left with one 'real' choice which is to upgrade their computer.

I just can't use supersampling (i2500k, hd6950), otherwise everything is maxed and fps is 50-60. Didn't test it in really massive WvW conditions however.

Mine runs it like it's nothing tbh. Isn't even that absurdly highend. I guess it's more about what kind of combination of hardware you have, less about how good the hardware is.

Did try it in WvWvW for a while and it's just badly optimized from the GW2 side there. Had no problems during the final Beta event :)

80+ fps on max settings, drops down to 40-50 in WvW in big fights, not unplayable by any stretch.

I have a gtx 570 and i72700k 4ghz
The game runs at 80-100fps on average with all settings maxed

tl;dr the 570 is a beast

Nooo.  My system is pretty low end.  Three or four year old video card I believe, only 4gig of Ram, no SSD.  I'm glad it runs as well as it does on medium.  I can turn up the graphics for a minute and look at things, but forget it being playable.

Put it to the max and had a tolerable lag. Optimization'll fix that up.

Yea i can run it one max, besides supersampling which does cause some small drops in fps (and will thus not be used :P), i can run it perfectly with around 60 fps even when tehre are over 50 otehr people on my screen.

No idea, i'm having the same issue, the game was laggy for me - a lot. And I doubt they fixed it by now if they havent before >.>

They shouldn't have bumped all post-processing effects in one option that is one of the reasons imo

Your problem is likely due to poor optimization (so you should be fine for launch) or CPU, whereas graphics cards are the most important in other games mmos also guzzle CPU so if it's not up to date then you may get issues.
I myself can run it fine on max spare a few things that I just don't feel are unnecessary like vertical sync.

60-70fps with a Hd5800 (btw lol@nvidia card users having issues everywhere and still thinking nvidia is superior^^) and i7 870 while recording with dxtory and everything maxed. life's good

From the second beta and forward with all the stress tests included, I have been able to have all the settings as high as possible and the game has been running very smoothly. Even with a lot of people and spell effects on the screen.

There are definitely optimization issues on high end machines. I had hopes it would be resolved, but as in nearly every MMO in the beta cycle, we're still waiting for that "miracle patch" when they finally optimize because "optimization is always the last thing they do" according to the well-informed MMO community.

2GB GTX560Ti and i7 2600 @ 3.4 here. Had a lot of trouble with decent fps in the early BWE's, but the latest stresstests have been going great for me. steady 60FPS at max settings in WvW.

Also runs great on the 630M i5 the laptop has. (medium settings, decent 50-60 fps)

When the game goes live, I'm going to have to start requesting screenshots of this, because... I simply don't believe it. Unless you're playing at 640x480 resolution.

Drop the overclock on the i7 and you will see where the boost is coming from.

I agree, the game cannot be THAT CPU dependent while conversely not needing jack from the GPU. I have a 7850 overclocked to 1200 core and 1350 mem and a FX-4170 overclocked to 4.6ghz and if I run everything maxed, I drop down to 28ish FPS, even in Metrica province, let alone WvWvW.

How are you going to see performance in a still screenshot? He could be getting 10 FPS and still take a perfect screenshot :P

I could record with 50+ people on my screen without so much as a dip in fps. I have (i think) a i5-2400 cpu and gfx is HD 6670.

I'm playing 2560 x 1440 @ 60fps (v-synced) on high // 35-40 fps in huge fights ... smooth sailing for me

i5-2500K OC @ 4,5GHz
GTX680 SC @ 1,2GHz
16GB RAM @ 1,6GHz (CL8)
Intel 520 SSD (Sata 3)

before everyone else post that the dont have a single prob with their so called not so high end rig, please be reminded that most of the people
that have problem here are playing on  ultra with resolution of 1080p the least. so dont give me the god damn my low end rig can play gw2
fine. it doesnt help at all.

@op, might wanna wait for full release optimization and the new drivers that had being said to be able to boost your fps while playing gw2.

The GF550Ti in my i5 2500K feels a little underwhelming, but I guess that's because it's only a 550 :P

Still, I seems to be getting pretty decent rates...

I have my doubts concerning all those peope with constant 80-100 fps. Im on [email protected] + gtx 580 - sure I can get 80-100 in less populated/graphicaly demanding areas without supersampling but other places its 50-70 and with ss on the average is about 45.

High performance? In sPvP I get 10 FPS (if i'm lucky) on lowest setting, lowest resolution.

Large dynamic events and WvW is a slide show.

I had low fps in BWEvents, so i played in balanced. But they did something (i think it had to do with quad processing or stuff), and i play in High resolution and max shadows, all max with 70-60 fps
