It was announced from the start that the Chef / Cooking discipline would be the most complex of the crafts available to us. Cooking requires an extremely high amount of ingredients, and some of the recipes require an earlier recipe as an ingredient. Some meals go up to 6 steps deep in prerequisites.

Using the information made available to us by perturb / frags, I've tried to create a chart showing all the complex recipes. Click the image below for a larger version.

Click here for the old version.

Please note:
- This chart only contains recipes that are 3 tiers or deeper. All simple recipes like vegetables and cookies are intentionally left off. Updated with all known recipes (28-08-2012)
- FreeMind, the software used to create this mindmap, doesn't allow nodes with the same name to be merged back together. I've tried grouping them together as much as possible and numbering them.
- Some of the recipes are datamined and some results from guesswork, it's likely not 100% correct yet.

Sample complex recipe: Bowl of Mushroom & Asparagus Risotto

Step 1: Bowl of Poultry Stock
- Jug of Water
- Slab of Poultry Meat
- Onion x2
- Carrot x2

Step 2: Bowl of Fancy Tangy Sautee Mix
- Onion
- Shallot
- Jar of Vegetable Oil
- Head of Garlic

Step 3: Bowl of Herbed Poultry Stock
- Pile of Simple Stew Herbs
- Bowl of Poultry Stock
- Sage Leaf
- Rosemary Sprig

Step 4: Bowl of Risotto Base
- Bottle of Rice Wine
- Rice Ball
- Bowl of Herbed Poultry Stock
- Bowl of Fancy Tangy Sautee Mix

Step 5: Bowl of Mushroom Risotto
- Mushroom
- Cheese Wedge
- Portobello Mushroom
- Bowl of Risotto Base

Step 6: Bowl of Mushroom & Asparagus Risotto (final recipe, thus not shown on chart)
- Snow Truffle
- Bowl of Mushroom Risotto
- Asparagus Spear

I hope this chart helps people plan ahead a bit and helps others to determine if this daunting gastronomical mess is something you actually want to dive into ;)

Feedback is welcome, and hopefully I'll be able to release additional / full cooking maps in the next few days.

Great work, thanks for that.

Makes me realise even more that extra bank slots and bag space are going to be needed to hold all of those 1st tier recipes for when it comes to making 2nd & higher levels.

Wow - this looks complicated .. I like it :)

So I take it most of the recipes are found by discovery instead of buying them??

Like most crafting disciplines, you get a handful of recipes for free every 25 levels. I've seen a few Karma and regular Vendors that sall recipes, but their numbers are small. This leaves a huge amount of recipes to be discovered.

There has been a lot of focus on the negative aspect of Cooking requiring the most bag space and you'll definitely need to keep a clean bank / inventory to cook. The benefit however is that (once all recipes are public knowledge) it will be one of the easiest and fastest to level. You'll double up on experience a lot through Discovery bonus, and with 343 currently described recipes that's a lot of chances to do so. In addition, it seems like every recipe grants a lot more experience than with other crafts.

{Chef} Mixing 1 salt & 1 peppers at level 0: 700 xp (no discovery bonus)
{Armorsmith} Refining 10 copper ingots & 1 tin ingot: 150 xp (no discovery bonus)

Huge update, the mindmap contains all currently known / guessed recipes. Please check the Original Post for the updated image (version 1.2).

Thank you, good mind map. Could you share a FreeMind .mm file, please? (source of image). For better search and I'll try to extend it (what resources needed, where they are got)

Do you really need a big bank/bags to cook? I mean you (should?) put most of your ingredients in the collections tab don't you? And since you can access that from any crafting station.. Unless i'm missing something here.

FreeMind .mm file - Version 1.2

As expected it's already in dire need of an update.

As for requiring bag/bankspace: Yes, you need a huge amount. As soon as possible try to upgrade to the biggest size you can afford. Bagspace is more important than bankspace because you can't discover new recipes from your bank.

The biggest problem is that you need to craft recipes, like dressings or dough that you can't store in your Collection and for discovery purposes are convenient to just store inside your bags. A small tip: in the discovery pane if an ingredient is colored red there are no discoveries available anymore and you can chose to bank it instead.

I have about 20 ingredients I use regularly, because I wanted to discover everything. Sadly discovery for Cooking isn't as rewarding (nor mandatory) to efficiently level cooking, and it's often simpler and cheaper to mass produce. (From 125 to 150 I made Chocolate Cake, from 150 to 175 I made Chocolate Cookies. All with items cheaply available in bulk for a small bit of coin and karma).

Some of the items I feel are mandatory in your bags:
- Pile of Salt & Pepper
- Ball of Dough
- Ball of Cookie Dough
- Bowl of Baker's Dry Ingredients
- Bowl of Baker's Wet Ingredients

A big problem with cooking is that there isn't much interest in the resulting goods. I've tried to sell some on the Trading Post when it was briefly available, and I've tried selling and trading Power food in the /map channel when we only had mail available. (Hurray for buggy launches ;) There were no takers. As such I've been eating most of my own food, and handing out a bit guildmates and pickup dungeon members.

The experience buff seems to be something like 10% on the base experience, so instead of 10 xp per kill you get 11 xp, but not on Renown or Personal Story as far as I can tell. Of course it still adds up.
