After being pretty fixed on playing either an elementalist or engineer I've rather changed my mind to the mesmer after yesterday's stresstest.
But one thing still bothers me, mesmer seems like a rather immobile profession, or am I wrong?
The only way to gain swiftness is focus 4? And the only real movement skill is blink?
Or am I overlooking some major things?

No you are not. Mesmer really lacks mobility.

the class has a lot of ways with stealth to get out of bad situations. if you're looking for mobility as far as movement speed we have focus 4, sword 3 but u need a target, staff 2 (which blinks you backwards) and blink.
looks else where for mobility...like a thief or elementalist (ride the lightning comes to mind)

Meh. There's two types of mobility; one that lets you escape death by relocation and the other that just generally gets you around the map quicker.
The Mesmer is good in the first, bad in the second. A lack of reliable swiftness uptime makes things tough on the mesmer and I think that maybe one of their more lacking offhands should be buffed with a swiftness effect. That said, the Mesmer is in a pretty good place all in all and I don't think they need a tonne of mobility stacked on top of their current kit, especially when plenty of other classes can just give you swiftness.

Yeah we do lack mobility - i think generally we could use more access to boons but it's not game breaking if we don't

Rune of Centaur + Mirror. 12s / 15s cd
Focus #4 = 12s / 25s cd
That's about running faster.

Well, theres always portal. This doesn't really get us from A to B faster, but it can let our team hop between nodes quicker. Clever portal use seems really good in tournament play.

Mesmer has great in combat mobility, especially with the sword and the staff but really lacks out of combat mobility.

Most of what everyone's said here is true. I suggest using underwater for travel methods since they seem to be a lot more mobile down there but else where? Ha! They're good at escaping though if you know what you're doing.

Good point about the boons.
I feel like whenever I want to get swiftness in combat rolling I have to either pray to the Staff RNG gods or steal it with arcane thievery. Self buffed I barely ever have more than 2-3 of anything at a time, and yet I see plenty of other classes rolling around with what seems like an uncountable amount.
