Why are people so focused on the "end game"? Whatever happened to playing the game for the journey itself?

I honestly dont understand this argument most the time, WoW is about cosmetics and asthetics also, its jus the game is built on a stat stick system. They even added transmorg because they saw how powerful it is for players to look how they want, ANet did the right thing of killing the stat wars and now an even better version of progression is in place, trying to look the most badassery as possible and titles etc.

Personally I will be legendary hunting more than anything else, Id like to have stuff with cool cosmetic side effects and hope ANet will realise that some proff specific weapons will be introduced, i.e Necro scythe staff or legendary daggers that look like darksiders dual weild scythes.

I will be the person to role one character (maybe 2 if I'm bored enough :P)  and for my end game it would be to complete EVERYTHING.

End game for me in Guild Wars 2:

sPvP
WvW
The land of Orr. !!! Just teleport there and do /guild Hey! Anyone wanna join me in Orr? I'm gonna walk around there killing stuff!!!
Oh and dungeons.

Besides that.. I think I'm gonna have a hell of a time just going from area to area and following the main story. Playing different characters and so forth.

Mostly WvW, but I really look forward to being able to play alts without feeling like I'm "falling behind" because I'm not grinding the next tier of content on my main. I like to experience a game from different perspectives- i.e. how it plays for different classes, or professions in this case.

In most games, if you start playing an alt character, unless you've completely beaten ALL of the available content, you can't help but feel like you're losing ground. I'm glad I won't need to feel that way in GW2.

Helping out people with stuffs if they ask something or need help with something (but only the nice ones, I can't stand jerks -__-)
Explore the world.
Kill stuffs.
Try explorable dungeons.
Try WvWvW and not suck at it.
...maybe try some sPvP.
Kill stuffs.
Play one of my other 8 characters.
Find cool new things to wear or wield.
Kill stuffs.
Get some achievements I don't have yet.
Kill stuffs.

End game? What's an end game?

Seriously, the term end game meaning whatever one does after reaching level cap has always bugged me. For me, end game is when I stop playing. In the case of GW2, that is anticipated to happen no sooner than 2020. As far as level cap goes, I won't even be reaching that for quite some time as I'll have as many as 8 characters by the time the game officially launches. Unlike in GW and other MMOs where I only played one or two characters with the rest being mules, I'll actively play all of my GW2 characters to level cap. After reaching level cap, I'll definitely continue playing my main along side new characters to play though other personal stories.

Actually it may even be a race between me and ArenaNet. Will one of my characters reach level 80 before the 1st expansion is released? Watch this space. :P

WvW, exploration, spvp tournaments, jumping puzzles, playing with my close buds, and most importantly looking bad ass when i do all those things. I'd like to find a team that will eventually win a yearly tournament.

I plan to keep exploring the world, finding every little thing I can, including all of the hidden jump puzzles. I'll also get into more World vs World and blast through everything I can with my engineers various gadgets, I shall be Batman of the battlefield! (hey.. I can dream can't I?).

I'll also set up a summer vacation home in Orr as I plan to get alot of mileage out of that place.

After 13 years of gaming  I`m not too worried about endgame ,Already did the uber raid guild thing for 5 years in EQ and raided in WOW years ago as well.

I dont raid anymore have almost zero intrest in raid content . People that worry about endgame always make me laugh as they see the game as filler until you can grind to level cap as in their eyes the game doesn`t start until you are at max level.

They are the people that grind to max level then whine on the fourms there`s nothing to do and no people to group with as they bypassed all the content to rush to max level to do nothing lol .

When in reality the game starts at level 1 and the trek from 1 - level cap is the content of the game ,

Endgame for me will be the same game I played leveling to level cap,  RVR , dynamic events, getting unlocks, and dungeons, etc  but mostly RVR  ie  WVWVW

Some people need to have a carrot on a stick to chase to enjoy  so called endgame , I`ve been chasing that carrot for years , not too worried if this game has a carrot to chase or not .
as long as its fun

Alts, helping guildies/friends and PvP are all big endgame winners in my book.
