My engineer is going to be a Charr. I've been racking my brain however trying to come up with a last name for my Charr (already have two ideas for a first name, but don't worry about it as the won't effect the last names in anyway, I just don't want it taken).

Using the standard Charr naming conventions I've come up with:
Quickshot
Shadowbolt
Flamegear
Ionkeeper
Acidclaw
Bloodelement
Gearstrike
Ironwrench
Alchemictool

Though I'm not particularly impressed from what I've come up with so far. The reason I'm asking for suggestions in the Engi forum is because I'd like my name to do something with being an Engineer, whether it be something related to electricity, mechanics, chemistry, alchemy, guns, bolts, gears, coils, steam, etc...

Btw he will be joining the Iron legion of course :) though the naming convention is based off of your individual warband which has nothing to do with your legion I guess.

Well my first question would be, what's your build look like? Based on the choices you put up there, that might be a deciding factor.

Elixirs? Turrets? Tools?

If you want to follow traditional charr naming conventions, keep in mind that the first part of the "surname" is the name of your warband. Someone named "Garrsh Gearstrike" would be a member of the Gear warband, for example. The second part is something that distinguishes that individual within their warband. It could be a word that indicates a particular skill or physical trait, or a reference to something they've accomplished, or something else that says something about them and who they are.

Metalclaw
Gunwrench
Elixiar
Metalwerk
Cogwrench
Steamdaft
Your "gearstrike" sounds nice.

These were all I could think of.

that's what i've heard, but i remember seeing somewhere else that sometimes it's the second word and it seems like some example names i've seen are exceptions to that rule, so I've been going either or, whatever sounds better.

Those "rules" are not always applied, true, but they're the most common naming pattern, and a good place to start from, I think. It gives a little more structure than just coming up with a name from scratch, for me.

Some "warband names" for Iron legion that I've come up with for potential names: Fuse, Rust, Powder, Bolt, Forge, Smelt, Slag, Hammer, Brass, Molten, Blast, Fume

Be careful, this probably one of the most used forums for this game and someone could steal your ideas. If your going the curret style, it seems you wanna combine industrial/technological terms with anatomic features of the charr. I'd make a list of the suffixs/prefixs and see what sticks. Also, if your going for a more RP aspect, think about what war band your gonna be, as that could offer some insight (just avoid anything "flame" related).

Also, just my opinion, avoid anything with "dark" or "death" in it. Thats for da nubs.

The most clever name I've seen that's some pun on cats is "Chairman Meow." Also, anything with "Char" in it, like Charrmander or Charrizard, will go pretty quick.

Schawk for the engineer, and the last name would have to be mineral related.  Iron, Steel, Onyx.
