Hello, I am trying to choose a class for raw CONSISTANT damage. I can't choose between Necro and Ele, I know all classes are setup to be high damage, but I know some will be better than others.

Friend 1: Guardian Tank
Friend 2: Elementalist Damage
Friend 3: Warrior Tank/Damage
Me: _______ Consistant Damage


I'm leaning necromancer because its different, I will also consider Thief and Ranger if they can convince me. Please help, thank you.

nothing will stay the same my friend  , necros might be buffed ..
That doesnt mean necro isnt good ,
But you already said u want straight damage ,  and necro is more about control .
your friends are 2 melee , and ur 4 so u dont need to go 1 more melee ( that mean you will have to skip thief assuming that you'r gonna stick to ur friends)

Ive everyone is attacking wouldnt everyone be doing "raw" consistent damage? Furthermore what is raw?
Also note this is the PvE side just incase you were thinking  PvP, if so I presume "we" can still help but the distinction needs to be made.

what are you planning to achieve with a couple of "tanks" lol?

Well I would choose a mesmer or a theif, both can get in and out of fights fairly well and can dish out quite a bit of damage, however a necro would fit your group nicely by applying constant conditions and as a bonus its the most survivable class in the game (but this is just my opinion).

Truth, just go with whichever class you enjoy the most. Doesnt matter about consistent damage your gonna be playing with your friends so just have fun man.

Ranger DID have very high dmg builds in the first BWEs but they have since been nerfed, eles dmg also took a bit of hit (nowhere near as much), thiefs went from being really unimpressive to damn good dmg overall and just kick ass burst, such is life with Anet mate.

Necro is more...difficult to judge, i only leveled up one to the teens and to me it did seem to have great continous (sustained) dmg potential, others on this forum have complained at later levels it gets more..lacklustre, all dmg comes from one style (D/D, DS) thats currently bouncing between OP and nerf state, i really like the duall dagger death shroud style but you may not.

In full honesty mate the highest continous dmg class from the drawing board stage is both War & Ele, exactly which has more sustained and which has more burst has changed with every BWE/stress test, ive already heard of mad theory crafters postulating these War spike builds, something to look forward to.., and thers the outside chance of ranger returning to its high dmg throne, ultimately you have a few largely comparable by numbers choices, go with whicever you prefer/enjoy more.

Necros have low consistent damage/dot.  Eles can maintain good damage especially with Fire Attunement.  However the Necro is tankier than the Ele.  If your only priority is raw damage then go Ele.  They can maintain burning on a target (for consistent dot) while nuking it with other spells.
