When trying to install the client I get through these steps:

Log in to your Guild Wars 2 account management page at https://account.guildwars2.com.
Navigate to the Download Client page by clicking the link on the left side of the page.
Click the Download link in the center of the page and, if prompted, choose the save location.
When the download is complete, navigate to the location on your computer where you downloaded the Gw2Setup.exe file.
Double-click the Gw2Setup.exe icon to launch the installer

Then a screen pops up, with Guildwars 2 on it, it downloads to something like 10018k, a box pops up asking me to allow the program to make changes to the computer, I hit yes then the Guildwars 2 screen disappears and pops up momentarily showing 0k downloaded then disappears and nothing happens.

I am running on Windows 7 id that makes a difference.

I have tried this while disabling my firewall, avg (I run windows firewall), ran it as an administrator and it keeps doing the same thing (nothing)

Try making a link to GW2.exe (not GW2setup.exe) and run it.

Can you elaborate please?  There is no GW2.exe on my computer at the moment.

Having the same issue as well and I'm on vista (highly doubt that makes a difference).  Tried same fixes as the OP, as well as restarting computer, trying the repair and update shortcuts (saw no difference whatsoever instead of just clicking the original link) and I tried to remove the "setup" like was suggested above.  I get a popup saying that the target box is not valid (doing this through a shortcut like the other two, I may be doing this wrong).

Hey, im having a lot of problems with ingame stuff, im playing, then screen goes black for awhile,then im back in game,rinse repeat... what is wrong?? i had login errors, i have driver 304.79, why is tis happening? this launch is creepy...

i have the same problem. It downloads to 10018K then it runs and says 0kb downloading speed 0kb for a second then shuts off

Ok, so I don't have an ArenaNet folder/file in my temp files, its in the same category as downloads, Appdata, music, and so on, directly underneath my name on my computer.  I have a "text file" named "ArenaNet", that when I open, shows that error code.  Unfortunately, when I follow your link none of the fixes help me, including following the link on that page (which was honestly not too helpful, most of the posts weren't responding to the OP.  Looks like its an OS problem, and not a GW2 problem, meaning that my computer is messing up and is unable to create a correctly sized paging file or something.  Tried googling how to fix that, couldn't find everything, the first like 5 results, but it seems to be connected to ram.  I'm running at 2 gigs of ram atm, should I upgrade it?

Had the same issue, solved thanks to dhatcher1.  I simply renamed 'gw2setup.exe' to 'gw2.exe' and it ran perfectly.  Thanks

im having the same issue. after downloading the 10mb file it will restart and auto close. and after that it will be saved on this address C:\Users\#####\AppData\Local\Temp\  

and when i run the .exe file on temp folder then it runs and says 0kb downloading speed 0kb for a second then shuts off. pls help guys.

I renamed it to GW2.EXE and now instead of dissappearing it just freezes

try going to C:\Users\#####\AppData\Local\Temp
find the gw2.tmp and rename it to gw2.exe
