I know it's not cool posting this right before this EPIC game launches, but I feel people should be aware that Jeremy Soule may not come back to do his magical work on another Guild Wars game.

Recently Jeremy Soule posted that GW2 is his last Guild Wars game he works on:



Looking at Jeremy Soule's Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/mrsoule), something might have happened last night: "The music is invited. But not me." via mobile and something about security not letting him in somewhere.

Guild Wars would not be Guild Wars without Jeremy Soule. We're talking "Star Wars without John Williams". If something happened I feel ArenaNet should resolve this issue. I really love Jeremy Soule's music and Guild Wars and Jeremy Soule go together perfectly. I really hope that something changes. I hope we'll hear more of his incredible music in future games in this series!

I... please let this not be true. I hope that Jeremy will return to score future Guild Wars 2 expansions. I really don't want him to go.

He said that he won't do another Guild Wars game After guild wars 2. Unless Guild Wars 2 never ever needs another song, we might be in luck.

His music is awesome, i love it. I think it's good he left, now we can hear more variation in awesome music.I mean there is more musicians than Jeremy Soule that can compose awesome music.

Very sad to hear!! I heard that too though, I mean that Bethesda is giving him more money than ArenaNet would or could. Who knows, either way like someone else said, it's like Star Wars without John Williams. No matter how great the next is, it won't be the same!!

so his facebook post implies that there was an event that he did not get invited to/let participate in but yet they still used his music?

thats a slap in the face if its true.

music is art, and him being lead composer is like being lead game art designer.

they better respect.

i think its bad news, it means he is a *EDIT* (misuse of terminology).  Bethesda?!  they are the EA of single player mmorpgs.  i mean that because elder scrolls games and fallout games are generally plagued with severe bugs and issues that seldomly get resolved in a timely manner.  and because Bethesda has a lot of money, enough to where they can bribe talent.

Seriously, a sell out? He owes us nothing you know, and accepting a job for another company doesn't all of a sudden make you some kind of traitor. I think it's unfortunate that he will stop working on the Guild Wars series, but I'm not calling him a sell out if he decides to work for a company that I dislike.

I love Soule's music and think he's done a fantastic job, but he's also devoted a large amount of his time to the GW series already, and many artists prefer to challenge themselves with new projects when they feel they've given all they can to a series. I wish him the best in future endeavors, and appreciate the contribution he's made to bringing the world of Tyria to life.

i apologize, i am using a rahter flamboyant terminology from days when i used to listen to punk rock (in which whenever a band signed from an independent record label to a major record label, they'd be "selling out").

in my defense hower, that is the definition of selling out.  to sign with someone else for more money.

i believe what you are saying is that jeremy justifiably *EDIT*, but, *EDIT* nonetheless.

That is not the definition of a sell out...a sell out is someone who compromises his artistic integrity for money, not just the simple fact of making money...big big difference

He did compose a lot of original music for GW2, but they did reuse some GW1 stuff as well.

4 discs worth of original music as well as some that didn't make it on the OST. Jus because you don't always hear it in the zone doesn't mean it's not there.

On topic: I love Jeremy Soule and his music and although I'll be sad if it is true I wish him all the best on future endeavors.

Meh, don't really care sorry. I believe there are many better composers that create much more varied music. Not that GW2 music isn't good, it's great but not really epic. It's repetative. Please don't kill me.

You're welcomed to your opinion. But this is a major blow to the game. Who will they get to replace Jeremy? The man practically seals the atmosphere for the game with his music.

Sometimes I do but I mostly like how the original music completes the atmosphere.
Devin Townsend isn't really a good ambiance for high fantasy

And the only reason you think that is because he's the only one who did the music for Guild Wars/GW2. If it were anyone else who put out a quality score, you'd be saying the same thing about him/her.
