Hey! I just want to know what you are playing as first character in Guild Wars 2 and why.

I'm interested myself in Thief but can't try it out yet because I'm having only one day headstart. I like that profession because it's sneaky style which I'm in to.

I also made poll to seperate site because I didn't find out how to make poll to this forum. I would really appreciate if you could vote your profession because it would be so cool to see which professions people like to play as their first one!

You can find poll from here.

Keep in mind the mesmer and thief forums are way more active than the others, so expect more responses.

Aah okey. Thanks informing me about that. Just wanted to get some kind of picture what professions players is playing. :)

---

I think your point is very true because I was sure that Warrior will get many votes since almost in every forum where people is telling what profession they will play most of forum users say they are playing Warrior. And it's interesting that only one have voted for Warrior. :)

It would also be nice to know which in your opinion is most and less played profession?

I think myself that Warrior or Guardian is most played. Not sure about least played though.

If you're looking for a sneaky profession, I hate to break it to you, but you'll be a bit disappointed by the Thief.

All but one of their stealth skills last only 3 seconds (4 if traited).  You might have 3 of these if you build for it.  Even then, they have either a huge opportunity cost through Initiative or are on relatively long cooldowns.  Also, with the movement speed being so low, you can't sneak past anything while stealthed (you'll reappear before managing to get past).  It's basically only useful for setting up a backstab or running away.

Without a shortbow, Thieves are also slower than many of the other professions, in large part due to their not having any real triggerable swiftness.  (2s swiftness on dodge trait doesn't count IMO.)

Thieves are more acrobatic/teleport-y than anything else.

Yeah I found that out. It's little similar to Warrior in TERA and I wasn't good at him. So I guess I have to pick manly profession in that case and that is Warrior (in GW2). I tried him out little and was satisfied with him.

So I guess my pick is then Warrior.

Even though Hunter also seems very nice... but I'm not sure about him because I have never really liked multitasking with pets.

I'm loving the ELemenalist!

It's great, switching between the different attunements for dps, healing, cc etc!

I use a staff and drop aoe fire dps then if a warrior starts chasing me you can switch to earth, drop some cc, change to water, heal up, then drop the water cc, then back to fire hit him with some more damage, switch to electricity hit up speed boost then drop the electricity cc.

It's awesome.

I'm zapping between Guardian and Warrior.

Overall, I think I have more fun with the Guardian, but I'm dead afraid that later in the game the class might be forced to be the group healer / buffbot and I certainly don't want to do that.

Warrior will never be asked for such, but on the other hand it gets somewhat boring to play.

May I ask why you think that Warrior will get boring to play?

In my experience so far (and I have been checking the scoreboard every game looking for classes), a great majority of people are playing guardians, warriors, and thieves.  Like, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that those 3 classes together had 60% representation, or even more, although the poll does not seem to reflect this.  Elementalists are also fairly common, and you'll see an engineer here and there.  I've run into far fewer mesmers and rangers, and I don't even remember seeing a necromancer... maybe like 2 or 3 this entire time.

Yes, Guardians/Warriors/Thieves are everywhere in PVP. Figures because they are really OP right now and probably up for hard nerfs.

I have been playing a Thief through out all BWEs and Stress Tests as my 'main'. Still doing it.

Now - I am still not 100% certain it is the right one for me. Sometimes I have silly mesmer (just seems interesting) and necromancer (just like the entire concept of condition galore - the complete thief opposite) dreams though...

Maybe I'm just too used to GW1 where a char could have hundreds of builds, but having played Warrior since BWE1 it got kind of boring as we don't have that many choices.
Once you used all the viable builds extensively it kind of gets repetitive.

hmm i have found every my ''build'' the mesmer has i have been having an absolute blast with, maybe the proffesion system is just not your cup of tee Falcon? there's always limitations in these types of mmos in some shape or form.

I'm playing the Necro.  I really like the class and with traits it has some interesting things that you can have like targetable wells.  Mostly though I like the Death Shroud mechanic, lots of fun and lots of damage.  I know conditionmancers are all the rage, but I like to be different.

Plus my main in GW1 was a necro, this has a different feel but I still really like the class.

The warrior. I love their out of combat mobility with the sword/warhorn and GS, especially in WvWvW (must have escaped several group encounters at this point). They move so fast and their damage is remarkable. Good range options too (mainly use the rifle).

Started as a Mesmer, now checking out and enjoying Thief, and I started my Warrior tonight.

I was supposed to be a Warrior at launch, but fell in love with the Mesmer and surprised myself by enjoying Thief since last weekend.

I first started as Warrior. Played him like week but then I got "fed of it". I tried out all classes little and then settled to Ranger. I have now played him over week and happy with it!
