Please, PLEASE do not take this offensively. I know how PC gamers can get when someone wants to play with a gamepad. Truth is, I just want to hook it up to the big screen, sit back and play with a pad. I am a warrior, so I do not need a lot of set keys. Honestly, I think it would work out just fine.

So does anyone recall if this supports a gamepad on the fly? Or do I have to mess around with Xpadder? (Hate messing around with Xpadder) lol.

Are there even enough buttons on a gamepad to support the required features? Probably not.

Without having actually used a 360 controller, I'm going to say no.  UNLESS you have enough buttons to do the following:
* WASD movements plus straife.
* Jump and dodge (can double tap movement keys for dodge)
* 10 keys for weapon/heal/utility skills, 4 keys for profession specific skills (warrior only needs 1), weapon swap
* interact key, targeting key
* several keys for popup menus/inventory/map

Also, is there a way to control the mouse cursor, since, at the very least, you'll need it for ground targeting.

Seems like a lot to ask of a single controller, unless it looks like a universal remote. lol

Easily done, you can use the shoulder buttons as shift buttons giving every other button 2 or 3 times more uses, you can bind an entire keyboard to a gamepad, people just aren't willing to try it...

It is theoretically and technologically possible. Is it viable? I don't really know. A friend in my guild was asking the same - I was looking into it, and it seems possible. Just remapping the keys to a controller and having an "ALT" button somewhere for various combinations, but it seems a little ' meh '.

Is there any PC controller that exists with more buttons though? I don't get the four button max per fingers limits. We get more on keybord and my brain dosn't hurt. 8 Buttons instead of four on a controller would be alright. My PC is on a big tv and I use it on the couch atm.. I don't feel like moving it for GW2.. (mouse control is horrible on a couch)

Just made a user account to help out a bit. long time guest of the forums. There have been quite a few threads about this actually, but no one has said that you actually can play it with a xbox 360 controller. All you need to do is download Pinnacle Gaming Profile software. there is actually a profile already made for guild wars 2 that you can download with a button configuration already set. there is a 30 day trial on the software and after that it is $25. but to me it is worth it to be able to play with a controller.   here is a link to the profile

You don't need to buy Pinnacle. There are free programs(Xpadder, GlovePIE, JoyToKey, and more) that will work just as well. Buy Pinnacle if you want to spend money on the user interface, but all of its features may be replicated for free.

There are multiple threads discussing how to play GW2 with a controller, including the X360 pad. See the following links, or perform a forum search. Yes, you can play this game, and play it well, with a controller.
