Do you think WvW queues will lessen in time?

Right now, queues are so far in the "holy crap this is taking a long time" extreme, that it'll take a huge drop off in population or interest (in either the game or WvW) to make it reasonable. The problem is that such a huge drop off in population and interest would be a bad thing for GW2 future. We want the player base to grow like WoW did for its prime, not shrink.

There is a maximum amount of players who can participate on those maps.

There's no reason *not* to queue though. So even if people plan to PvE, it makes sense (given the wait time) to queue regardless...making the queues stay long.

The only help would be servers with less population or a higher cap for WvW. So more servers would help if existing servers would be divided. That will not happen.

1. This was headstart weekend. A lot of players put in a lot of extra game time compared to normal.
2. People are still leveling. Some people wanted to grind out levels in WvW. After they hit 80, they will spend less raw time in WvW.
3. People will relax some time after retail as the novelty wears off.
4. People will transfer off if they can't tolerate the queue times.

It's a shame to have to sit around for 2-4 hours waiting for a queue, getting it and having to leave. What I have noticed though, is a few naked people just sitting around in caves and such, not moving for a few run backs and forth that I did. Is a kick afk system in place?

People just want a healthy server with a lot of people to play with both for PvE stuff and for WvW. Same happens for any game. And some of the larger servers also tend to do better in WvW which a lot of people enjoy as well. Why should people have to choose between short queue's and fun gameplay?

Which is why I'm trying to stir people up to petition ANet to start brainstorming for solutions now.
Either ramp up capacity (which I actually feel would not be a winning strategy) or add new battlegrounds to the map. 1-2 maps would thin out the servers a bit. As more people take up the game, low population servers will become a non-issue and maybe even some guilds will migrate to those to have more impact.
Remember, once you've killed Zhaitan with 1-3 characters, PvP and Wvw are all that are left.

Although I agree with your other statements, once people hit 80 they will ALL (well, mostly) be queuing for wvwvw. It is the endgame as far as I am concerned, although you can play it from the beginning its going to be a large part of what you do at 80 since pve is no longer beneficial.

This.
Its not WvWvW if the world cannot participate, its just a larger version of structured PvP with broken queues. DAOC had full WvWvW no queues

On less populated servers with no ques or short ones they may see que times increase as those players join those servers. IMO there will be a lot of movement in the next month or two and then we will see servers stabilize.
However I am hopeful that Anet relaxes the ques for larger battles.

I kinda feel the same way.. what people don't realize is a TON of people aren't even going into wv3 right now preferring to level up and gear their toons up and get skillpoints/etc..
wv3 is a *HUGE* part of the "End Game" of GW2
anyone who thinks queues will lessen are in for a surprise..
if anything, the more people level up, the more they'll bravely venture into wv3 whereas they haven't before feeling their characters too weak

ANet needs to do SOMETHING to remedy the issue, though I understand if they want to wait a couple of weeks to see if it fixes itself naturally. Some of us play specifically for the W3 and waiting 1-2 hours to get in is just messed up. I'm not outright complaining though as much as simply stating a fact: if ANet leaves the queue issue unresolved and it remains as long as it has been, some will leave. Int he short term this won't affect the company but in the long term it can

Oh it's a popular part of the game?! No shit Sherlock! I queue for WvW every single night and have not gotten in for days.

What I think they need to do besides increasing the player cap:
Allow to queue for all 4 WvW at the same time. So you can at least get to the meat of the game you want to play.
Also when your wanting to queue for a single WvW show in the tool tip what one you are queued for... yes after 30 min I may of forgotten which one I was set to.
Lastly, a queue time. At least show me how long I have been queued. On top of that maybe an estimated average for how long till I will be in.

I don't want to leave, because I like playing PvE with the guild I am in as well. And they are on the server I am on.
If guesting was in game and working, then I would have 0 issue with moving to a lesser played server.
I am ok with being an underdog...
