Primer on the Mystic Forge:
If you're new to the Mystic Forge, check out Ratboy's general "How To" on PvP crafting.
http://www.guildwars...fting-pvp-gear/

To sum up the process breifly: to create an item you need an item token (available from a glory vendor), a rank token (Rabbit, Deer, etc.), an arcane token (crystal, orb, sliver, etc.) and some arcane powder. The combination of rank token and arcane token ultimately determines the look of the item, while the item token determins the type (weapon, light armor, heavy armor etc). Consumable recipes follow different and varied rules, as indicated in the recipe list.

The Recipes
When posting your recipes, please list the following information
  • Item Token used (including Light/Medium/Heavy, or weapon type)
  • Rank token used (Rabbit, Deer, Tournament etc)
  • Arcane token (Orb, Crystal, Sliver)
Then post the item created, including:
  • Item's full name
  • Armor weight (light/medium/heavy) if applicable
  • Armor slot (head, chest etc) if applicable
Consumables have very varied recipes so just post the ingredients used, including the amount of each required.

Examples (please include Token, Orb/Crystal/Sliver and Armor Weight):
  • Free Tournament Token + Orb + Light Helm = PvP Rubric Circlet (Light Helmet)
  • Rabbit Token + Orb + Dagger = Makeshift Dagger
  • 1 Consumable Token + 1 Crystal + 1 Orb + 10 powder= Glory Booster
Below is a list of recipes based on players' crafting experiments. Where possible, I have linked to the corresponding wiki pages, so that you can see how the armor looks etc.

It appears recipes have a small chance to "crit" and create a different, rarer, skin. Orbs and crystals craft items one rarity up. Slivers seem to have unique "crit craft" skins for each tier. Our understanding of how this crit chance works is still limited, so I am only posting recipes for which players (or my own tests) have found in-game. Names listed in orange, indicate these "crit" results.

Results in green are from data collected during BWEs. These have been cross-referenced using multiple sources, and initial tests at lower ranks suggest they are unchanged. However, actual results from live, especially at the higher ranks where data was patchy, would be appreciated.

Anomalous Results
These results may be intricacies of the system which we don't yet understand, or simple bugs, at this stage it's hard to tell. However, any results which fall outside of the expected behaviour will be mentioned here. This may even be helpful to ArenaNet in locating erroneous recipes.
  • Various items, salvaging into Tournament Tokens or tokens above their rank (people salvaging Tiger Tokens from gear in dolyak/wolf chests for example)
Though tournament tokens being obtainable outside of tourney chests might "possibly" be intended, getting tiger tokens from anything other than tiger chests is clearly unintended. If you find such recipes, I would advise using /bug to report them in game to ArenaNet. I am collecting info on this (to send to ANet), but I will not post them here, as they may be considered exploits. I don't imagine ANet will punish players for finding and using these recipes, but I don't want to encourage players to abuse mechanics which are unintended.
  • Free tournament + Sliver + Heavy Armor Pauldrons = PvP Pit Fighter`s Pauldrons
The expected result would be Armageddon, Pit Fighter is thought to be the common (Orb) recipe. So far this is unexpected as we don't have any examples of slivers crafting items of a lower rank.
  • Tournament Token + Arcane Orb + Medium Helm = Commando Helm.
Most likely a naming problem, as the helm visually matches the stalwart set. There are few items with similar erroneous names. At some point I will try to compile a list of them all.
  • Light Armor + Wolf Token recipes.
It seems like there is some unusual behavior surrounding Light Wolf sets, there are reports that each material type (Orb, Crystal, Sliver) is randomly producing any of the three sets for this tier (Stately, Priory and Masquerade).
  • Medium Armor + Dolyak
As with light+wolf, each material type (Orb, Crystal, Sliver) is randomly producing any of the three sets for this tier (Stately, Priory and Masquerade). Or at the very least, more random than usual results.

The idea is good. However, there is no point to post them without screenshots.

Free + Sliver = Armageddon
Free + Crystal = Seer

You can preview all of the PvP armour in the game, by checking the PvP locker. So once you know the names, you can easily check the appearances. In time, the wiki will have images of all the different armour, and once we have data on how those are crafted through the forge, we can combine them.

Oh my God. I didn't know that. Thank you.

Now Anet owes me 25-30 tournament chests, I will preview before trying at the forge. I will also post here the results.

I think there should be one topic, not two for armors and weapons.

yesterday i won a tournament and got to secound round at another tournament. i didn't get anything but today i found a free tournament token in my bag. i went to the mystical forge and used orbs to forge a greatsword with the token and all i got was "pvp greatsword". was that a bug or something?
btw is it possible to disenchant it once againe and get a new tournament token out of it?

I've had a few of those "PvP [Weapon Name]" from the tournament chests too. I don't think they are bugged as such, just that they are named wrong. If you compare them visually, they match other weapons of a similar rarity. If you hover over some of the items in the PvP locker, they clearly need some work. There's a mask called "Needs Name Mask"...

And yes, you can salvage the newly created item. Though you materials will be the same as if you had found the weapon in a chest.

Rabbit token, dagger token, arcane orb = makeshift dagger.

Now I am going to do this combo again, as I am assuming that it is a "chance to make a better item" thing, not 100%. Unless the materials dictate what you get and you can't get good materials without salvaging good gear or something? =/

Same thing again ... hmmm a lot of glory waste, can I actually get an upgrade, can anyone confirm lol?

***EDIT***  Made 6 more, basic stat ones, no improvement =/ Waste of glory or just unlucky? ***EDIT***

The system is quite reliable, and the materials definitely do dictate which items you get. Ultimately, that's the point of this thread; to create a list of each material combination, so that people can have the best chance to craft the item they want.

The best way to get Arcane Crystal or Arcane Slivers, is to buy Silver and Gold chests, and salvage the rewards.

I believe the chance to "crit" or "get lucky" while crafting is quite low, so not the most efficient way to spend crafting mats, if you want a rarer item. I've salvaged around 15k glory's worth of items so far to test the system, and have only crit a few times.

Also, upon reflection it seems to be easier for everyone involved if this is made into one thread. So I'll go ahead and merge the  weapons and armor, and request a mod deletes the old thread.

So basically it is a "you make a normal item, with a small chance for an "upgraded" item" ? yeah?

Light Gloves Token + Rabbit Token + Arcane Crystal = PvP Embroidered Gloves
Light Leggings Token + Rabbit Token + Arcane Crystal = PvP Embroidered Pants

To be honest, i expected Magician, Country or Apprentice, maybe a lucky proc? But 2 times in a row seems strange, so it must be the regular recipe.

EDIT: confirm, just obtained PvP Plain Mantle from the same recipe (i think name is wrong, it fits in the "Embroidered" set and into the PvP Locker it is placed right after the Embroidered Pants)

Are you 100% sure that silver and gold rank chests give better items than the bronze chests? Is there any difference between the gold and the silver (except their price).

At the BWEs I have seen the difference between the free tournament chests (golds gave better items for me), however I couldn't figure out if the rank chests are different too (in the same tier).

I now feel like an idiot for just "throwing away" duplicate items I've gotten from the chests :(

Looking forward for more recipes. Gonna do some experimenting myself and post some results later!

Hey, made an account to share with you what my friends and I put together over the past few BWEs for our own reference.  We have not yet retested these combinations since live, and obviously tournament tokens were a hot mess of random during Beta, producing practically anything at all.  During Beta, it was also possible for Orb and Crystal results to be interchangeable, though this was less common (20% chance-ish).  This list was also compiled prior to being able to preview items inside the PvP Locker so sometimes we'd have to take a wild guess at what the name of the set might be.  If you're able to glean anything from it, be my guest.

During my experiments in BWEs, it seemed like "Country" was the common (Orb) recipe, and "Embroidered" was the uncommon (Crystal) recipe. It may be that you got lucky multiple times, but it seems unlikely. With such a small sample set, it's hard to say. I'll go ahead and add Embroidered as the Orb recipe, if further results indicate otherwise, I'll update.

This is one of the reasons I'm asking for new data from the live game, as it's likely that some recipes are different.

I'm basing this on my results from BWEs, but I believe all chests have a chance to include uncommon and rare items. However, Silver chests have a 100% chance to include at least 1 uncommon, and gold chests have a 100% chance to include one rare.

As this recipe list builds up, I hope to see that theory proven. As the sets which match crystal and sliver recipes, should be dropping from the appropriate chests.

That's great, thanks! I have a similar list that I'm working from, compiled by friends and guildies. However, I'm only using it as a reference, simply because I suspect recipes will differ in live. It's really nice to have some more BWE results though, so thanks again. If your friends and you would like to contribute results from live tests, that would be amazing.

As far as I noticed Orb items are the worst. No wonder you will get many orbs and a few slivers. Try slivers first if you have tournament token shortage. Then crystals.

I'm pretty sure the rarity order of mats is: Orb (common), Crystal (uncommon) and Sliver (rare). Even so, I think that the "PvP Staff" weapons from the tournament rewards are probably bugged, or miss-classified somehow. Time will tell.

Still a little shaky on how the mystic forge works, but here's some of my findings.

4x eight-slot leather bags = light helm token

Arcane Sliver + Deer Token + Heavy Helm Token = Superior Duelists Helm
Arcane Orb + Free Tournament Token + Heavy Helm Token = Pitfighter's Helm
Arcane Orb + Deer Token + Heavy Helm Token = Worn Scale Helm
Arcane Orb + Deer Token + Heavy Shoulders Token = Scale Pauldrons
Arcane Orb + Rabbit Token + Light Helm Token = Country Mask
Arcane Orb + Free Tournament Token + Heavy Shoulders Token = Worn Scale Pauldrons
Arcane Orb + Deer Token + Heavy Gloves Token = Worn Scale Gloves
Arcane Orb + Deer Token + Consumable Token = Deer Finishing Banner

Arcane Orbs really seem to just produce the base crappy items you're likely to get out of a chest - starting to wonder if it's even worth using them.

At first I thought the free tournament token was better than the deer token, since that got me the pitfighter helm, but I guess not, as the next time I used one I got a base item, worn scale shoulders. Also, interestingly enough, it seems you can't use a free tournament token with the consumable token.

Also, does anyone know if you can craft items using already existing armor/weapons? You can slot them in, but it doesn't show anything available to combine with them. For example, slotting in 4x Gizmo Focuses won't do anything (unlike the bags), and I also couldn't slot in an item in place of a token.

So it's always best to just salvage items you have duplicates of or don't want, I guess?

I am not sure how much this is related to the thread, but I wonder how do you get these rabbit/deer/etc tokens? I did manage to find out that you get the arcane orbs, powders and silvers by salvaging pvp stuff but I didn't find any info about these (no, googling didn't help).

It's the same - you get them randomly for salvaging that tier's equipment. Going through like 10k amount of glory buying boxes, I ended up with about 15 tokens for that tier (deer). Just buy more boxes and salvage the gear you don't want and you'll end up with some eventually.

Thanks for the results, I've added all but the worn scale set for tourney tokens.

The Worn Scale from a tournament token definitely seems odd... I can't be sure, because my bags were a mess at the time, but I think I may have salvaged some items from standard deer chests into tourney tokens. Perhaps there is a bug with certain sets' recipes. Does anyone have results from salvaging Worn Scale sets. Do they give deer tokens, or tournament tokens?

I haven't experienced this as I try to save my glory points. However, I am sure that I received bear and shark tokens at stress tests. I was rank 19 then. I don't know where they came from.

Archane orb + deer + light = magician's set

Any ideas how to craft cultural (racial) armor for pvp? I really love asuras' light set.

Just for your information, I tried to combine a Rabbit Token + Armor Token + Arcane Powder + Arcane Sliver and it would not allow me to create anything with those materials.

During the BWEs, paid tournament tokens would sometimes craft random cultural armor. It was actually quite annoying, because it would be for random races, so 4/5 times, you wouldn't be able to wear it. Once paid tourneys are up and running, we'll see if that still holds true.

I've noticed this too, I don't think there are any recipes for Sliver+Rabbit, I'll update those as "N/A"
