Hey, all
Yesterday I tried out the first dungeon in the char area, and is it just me or is it really difficult?
Our group members were dying quite often and the mobs seemed really strong haha

The dungeons in this game are a lot different than what you'd see in others. We wiped around 10 times on our first run-through of Story mode AC. Doing it in explorable mode also yieled quite a few wipes. I think some of the mechanics need to be tuned a little bit but yeah it's more about controlling enemies and mitigating damage as much as possible.

We found the increased challenge to be really fun though!

I've yet to do it this time around, I did do it in the bwe3 though and I felt difficulty was good. I personally died around 5-6 times. But we did eventually clear it. We started with 5 members and struggled with the ranger and the lovers, lost a member and then breezed straight through the necro and final boss with no deaths.

Cleared it yesterday with four people (thank you overflow/grouping mechanics!). Not really impressed. I'm not sure what kind of system they are aiming to have, or whether there is supposed to be a system.

Plus, any mechanics which involve dying, re-spawning and rejoining the fight is for me simply bad.

I do agree that the trinity is somewhat old and stale, but only if you have something better to replace it with. Super deadly mobs with constant re-spawning should be left in Diablo.

You are suposed to go down but not actualy die,if you do you get the penalty of having to repair your equipment.
That's how dungeons are suposed to work I believe.

Yeah you actually need to think unlike in many other games. Wish people were more open to trying explorable.

It was very challenging! Lots of fun though to finally have dungeons that actually require you to do something.

I think the difficulty is really fun, one thing I wish would change was the fact that if you die during a boss fight you can just go to a waypoint and run back in, really noticeable on Adelbern since the waypoint is right next to him.. making his fight close to impossible to fail

Story mode was good from his difficulty lvl
and explorer mode is hard but doable ( and think about it, its also made for lvl 80 where you ahve all of your skillpoints set)

I found it to be really easy.

My group didn't, however.

We spent a good amount of time wiping to the twin Mesmers because our Guardian didn't know how to separate the melee one.

The Ranger kept going for me, but didn't hit me once. He kept hitting everyone else, though, because they didn't know you could dodge through him if you ran out of room on the platform.

And apparently no one in my group knew how to dodge away from little red circles on the ground. During the King Adelbern fight, I was literally 100% the entire time from dodging red circles, while my group was downed a good amount because they just stood there and got wrecked by Foefire. I had one decent person in my group and even he died from sitting in the Foefire.

They were all really nice though. :)

It punishes people that don't dodge pretty hard. Need condi removal for the trash. Lvl 40 one is easier.

Did story mode twice so far.
Five first timers with no support the first time. We wiped A LOT and completed it with a lot of deaths and running back while fighting.
The second time me (engi) and a guardian went with a support build and completed it with little problems.
Just the rangers need some tweaking, imo.

Then I tried explo mode and it's been BRUTAL. Granted, the party was lv 28-32 and the area is intented for a party of lv 35s, so I can't judge it properly.

I found it to be relatively easy, and i wasn't even up to lvl 30 when going in. My group however seemed to have bigger difficulties staying alive :P

Done all the dungeons up to the level 50 dungeons, non of them have been "hard" just figuring out mechanics.

Dying isn't part of the system -- going down and getting helped back up by your teammates is.

See hearing things like that excite me. I really like the fact that Guild Wars 2 can be quite difficult most of the time. I really hope they don't go back and nerf it because of how many people seem to have troubles with it. Not to diss on WoW but I think about how the dungeons have gotten smaller and easier, almost to the point where if you wipe even ONCE the whole group nerd rages and quits.

Which mobs do you guys recommend targeting first?
From my time in there, it seemed the Ele and Necro's should be taken down first?

im not sure but..the dungeon has a bunch of boulders..can we throw those to knock down the champs?

on the side note:
i think its near impossible to fail the AC dungeon only because of the way point system AND repair anvil..i can see people failing when "x" amount of players just leave or quit or go AFK.

My definition for failing this dungeon is when it takes an hour+ to finish it

Just did AC, we wiped sometimes but we only had real problems with the lovers.
Did Adelbern with 4 people... I think the respawn point needs to be relocated. The fight isn't that hard to begin with if you keep moving.

Overall it's fun and pretty challenging for new players, like the first dungeon should be imo.

I just find the AoE circles too hard to see sometimes. Blue fire on blue rock isn't exactly the best solution there. The camera also drove me nuts in the fight against Adelbern due to the pillars around the area.

Which mobs do you guys recommend targeting first?
From my time in there, it seemed the Ele and Necro's should be taken down first?

Eles definitely, they hit like trucks. Rangers and Monks are second I think. Necros are the weakest imo, at least if you bring some condition removal. There are pretty much only 2 of them anyway.

I'm the same, but when I do die, it's because I dodged right into enemy AoE I hadn't seen.

I have to agree with some here, i found it more stupid that fun to loose the trinity concept. People where just dying all the time.
And there isnt easy to dodge all the time when there is an energybar......

Depends on your group, One group we dragged our dead bodies through it and took about an hour.. and a few other groups we face rolled everything and finished it in about 20 minutes.

All in all AC for me is great fun, with lots of xp, loot and money.
