Since we have a few of these scattered all over the place, I thought it would be wise to make one single place where we could suggest stuff we'd like to see implemented into the GW2 to make a fine game even more enjoyable. It would be an effective way for the GW2 developers to easily gain access to our thoughts and ideas.

I have just one plea: seeing how opinions can differ, can we please not argue on this one. Let's just post what we'd like to make it in the game and try to argument our wishes the best we can, while leaving the conclusion drawing to ANet.

I'll start:

1) Duels. Already confirmed to be implemented, however I'd love it if it was possible anywhere in the world of Tyria - main cities, villages and open fields. I agree - make it so that you can automatically decline duels if you don't feel like dueling, but the world is so huge and beautiful, I often find myself missing a good PvP fight (at least between two consenting sides, if not open world PvP) as a detour on some task/quest/exploration I'm currently on. A good boxing match would be a real refreshment.

A chance to cheer and just entertain yourself, seeing who'll win the fight. Maybe it would be fun if we could add some depth to this feature, such as some kind of statistic of wins/losses vs concrete opponents. Maybe even some kind of monthly achievement for the best duelers with rewards? Would make things interesting.

2) Player to player trading. It makes one's life so much easier really. It makes player to player interaction more personal and intense. It adds a sense of freedom to the world and gameplay, at the moment it kinda feels weird we have such limited interaction levels. You get to haggle in real time, if you're a good salesman you can persuade your potential customer right there and then. :)

3) Cash on Delivery. A very neat feature. I don't see why not. It's not an imperative, but again - it's useful, why not.

4) Inspecting. Also useful and very informative. Want to admire that awesome piece of armor your friend has, and you're dieing to get your hands on? Inspect him. See how it would look on you. Satisfy your curiosity. Also a reason to put two strangers together and enhance player to player interaction. I find people in GW2 too often just running past each other.

5) Global cooldown over cast times on all skills. Because the current system makes GW2 combat unresponsive, everything has a delay. It's basically the same thing, has the same effect - not being able to spam skills, it only allows you to make that hit exactly when you wanted and planned it.

6) Character movement animations and camera. Been discussed so, so many times. Not everyone finds this a gamebreaker, but many do. And while not everyone finds this important or a top priority, they certainly won't mind having these polished to the maximum. Some people, like me, find this to be a really big deal.

7) More armor and weapon skins at low levels. Having generic looking stuff really kills the enjoyment in finding new items. It doesn't have to be as epic looking as high end stuff, but please, offer us lots of variety. Variety is good.

8) Allow more PvE encounters vs single mobs, or at least multiple mobs but based on one-at-a-time system. Fighting groups is ok, but I often wish that I can focus on one single mob, which is a hard hitter, good dodger, with a good AI. Me, alone, not me and a bunch of other people using AoE skills.

It gives me a satisfaction to sometimes do something alone out in the world, for a change. Or at least 2-3 of us the most. Not in my personal story. To be clear, I'm not asking for the group events to be replaced with these, I am just asking for variety (again). Fighting in groups is a bit zergy and doesn't really allow for a skilled combat to take place, it's more just spamming stuff, rezzing dead guys and then it's spamming all over again. It's fine to have it in, I guess, but give us a change of pace every now and then.

9) Dye system for weapons. Explanation not needed I believe. It's cool, just like it is cool for armor pieces.

10) Dyes and purchasable bag space. Would like to see them available account wide, and not tied on the character level. This, however, interferes with the cash shop which is a tricky matter, but still something I'd like to see and which makes sense.

11) Transmutation. I am not sure about this, but I've read somewhere that the process of transmutation destroys the piece of origin. It shouldn't.

12) Crafting. Also not sure about this (forgive my ignorance), but are there legendary/rare recepies? I'd like to see ultra rare stuff in the form of drops. Not purchasable with any currency. Knowing you'll get something if you collect enough tokens isn't as fun as having something dropped by chance. That moment of "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST GOT XXX".

13) Linking stuff in chat channels. Gear, recepies, skills. Anything and everything.

14) PvP. I'd love to see 2v2 and 3v3 Death Match arenas. I'd love to see Capture the Flag mode.

I'd LOVE to see Downed State removed from PvP. It's fine and fun in PvE, but definitely not PvP. I am aware that there are people claiming it adds another level/layer of strategic combat. For me it doesn't. And I am not arguing with them, I am just stating my own opinion. It slows the combat down, it takes away my joy of just killing someone. It feels artificial, it feels like a mini game which has no place in PvP. It feels non inventive and dull. Again, this is from my own standpoint.

15) Ranger pets. I am also not sure if anything changes at higher levels, but currently I don't have the possibility to control my pet's skills such as knock-down etc. This is more of a question as I haven't really played the ranger more than 5 minutes, so don't hold it against me if I am posting this incorrectly.

16) WvWvW queues. We all know what I'm talking about, and while I don't have a suggestion on how it could be fixed, it's definitely a high priority issue.

17) Mounts. Was always a huge fan. Now, after seeing AWESOME vehicles in the Black CItadel (tanks, bike-like vehicles) I'm even more hyped about them. Just AWESOME, GJ ANet for the design.

18) Lesser scale combat in general. I mentioned this for PvE, I expressed my interest in 2v2 and 3v3 arenas. I am not a fan of mass-scale combat, PvE or PvP wise. But cool, many people are.

And we have mass-scale combat in GW2, plenty of it. I respect that. I just wish that we, people who like smaller scale battles with fewer participants, get something to seek our teeth into. Again, variety is good. I personally have more fun when I have to work closely together with a good friend or two, where we have to sync our play and where decisions we make have much larger impact on the outcome of the fight. I like to be able to recognize each skill that goes off and to be able to counter it. In fights where there are many participants it is impossible to keep track of everything and react accordingly.

19) More options for the character generation. I am a guy over 30 and I want to look other than a 19 year old quarter-back who just walked out of an expensive hair-dresser. I want to look raw, brute, scarred, pissed off.

20) General bugs and fixes. Just feeling obligated to mention them, but of course they'll get ironed out in time.

That's all I could think of at this moment. Again, I know not everyone will agree, but let's not argue. We all have our tastes, let's just try to be constructive. There are many things I love about GW2, but will not mention those. Let's stick to the flaws, so that GW2 could keep improving.

A dedicated loot button separate from interact is at the top of my list.

Let's see...

Increase normal mob exp so you aren't forced to solely do dynamic events to level.

And I dunno, but I always feel underleveled. I always have to go grind to continue my personal story. That doesn't feel right... you should be able to just keep going on your story from start to finish, rather than having to sidetrack for hours in between just to catch up.

using the /wiki command should open a window in game instead of alt tabbing you to your local browser. Arena Net already uses a browser for the Trading Post & Gem Store why not open the wiki in game as well.

A recently encountered enemies, skills, items, recipes etc...etc..etc. list similar to the one in GW. Where if you clicked on something in the list it took you to the wiki entry for it only make the wiki open in game.

Alliance chat features or at least custom chat channels.

What about a page where you craft stuff for people for free, if they give you the mats. Some people, like me, already made themselves armor and weaoons, qnd their friends too, ran out if mats, and want to level their crafting quickly. Someone will post that they want a Mighty Hammer of Resilience, post the mats, and wait fir someone to come and make it. I don't feel it would be used a TON, but I'm sure some people would use it. Semiuseful incguilds were you have major crafters who are kaking stuff for the guild, and are swarmed with 52 billion orders. It would be a nice way to clean things up.

Indeed, this should actually be a standard feature. I consider it necessary.

Seeing as how there's a suggestion list, I thought I should try and contribute as well. There are two things that I would like to add, although one of them is just a variation on Wynter's suggestion.

1] The first suggestion would be to enable the use of different bindings for not only your Keyboard, but your Mouse as well. Now a lot of people who play games are usually - and I say usually, cause it's not always true, so don't start bombarding me if you're in the part that's not usually doing this - people who often have Gaming Keyboards/Mice in terms of all these extra buttons to make sure your Hotkeys are bound in a more use-able manner. With the addition of being able to Bind your Left/Right Click, I think it would put a lot less strain on the excess buttons, as well as make it a bit more comfortable for some.  ((I personally think, it's more comfortable to have a FPS set-up with the Left Click being your Main Attack/Skill 1/Spammable Skill instead of a button your Thumb uses.))

2] The second suggestion would be a variation of what Wynter suggested. He/She suggested that when new enemies/maps/skills/recipes/etc. are encountered, there should be a page within the game that takes you to the Wiki for any and all information based on what you just encountered. That's a great idea, however, I think the variation of this would be to put in some kind of codex/guide/book/etc. that gets updated with various things you discover/uncover/encounter so that you can either collect such information for achievements, or just for the sole purpose of completing such a thing. (Poke-dex anyone?) If, however you want to keep the Wiki aspect to it, then have a codex/guide/book/etc. that already has all the information in it, without ever needing to encounter/uncover/find/etc. the thing in question. This would be a lot less demanding than an built-in Wiki page seeing as how that would need to connect to the Internet where you still have certain load times, whereas the built-in codex/book/guide/etc. would not really require any additional load time in terms of internet connectivity.

Now these two suggestions have probably already been...well, suggested (look at the second suggestion here being a variation of one posted in this very thread) however, the more people spread the word, the more ANet should take notice...eventually.

Well these are mine.  My biggest needs / wants are the Mouse zoom/FOV and the WvW queue stuff.

General:
  • Mouse Zoom / FOV change.  Let me zoom out more... and increase the FOV... My eyes are hurting
  • Left over heart quest items. (stuff left in inventory after you complete quest.. nothing else for them)  Let me vendor em as trash.
  • One alternate build slot.  To allow a PvE and a WvW build.
  • Key Bind:  Alternate key bind for Resurrect and Interact / loot.  Sometimes I want to resurrect rather than looking an item or chopping a tree etc.
  • Toggle to show items in environment, rather than having to hold down ctrl.
  • Downed State:  Zoomed in too close for quick use of Thief / Mesmer escapes
WvW:
  • Queue for all 4 WvW areas.
  • Show what battleground I am queued for when queued for only one.
  • Show Queue time.  both how long I have been queued and estimate.
  • Ability to see WvW score when in overflow.
PvP:
  • Capture the Flag map
  • Queuing as a group for both PvP and WvW

There actually is a toggle to show the freindies/enemies in the environment. it's located in the general options. that said it doesn't show one thing that your bind will: trees and other gathering resources.
I will also bring another point to that: The bind you use also acts as the call target, so if your like me you will constantly call targets on whatever your looking at. So I propose one of 2 things, either allow a seperate binding for showing resource nodes, or simply let the option to show things in the general tab to actually show you everything, including resource nodes.

PvE:

option to turn off / on icons on the map.  (i.e: I want to only see the hearts)
different buttons for loot / interact.  I commonly start conversations with NPCs in combat; which is a game of crucial seconds.
Mystic Forge items are soulbound on Equip, not Aquire.
Chest rewards for jump puzzles are profession specific, like story rewards.
Waypoint travel cost is based on distance between waypoints, not level.
Warping to your race's home instance waypoint should always be free or a smaller rate, perhaps upgradable to free through experience / research.

WvW:
no more ques please.
kick people who afk faster
more waypoints.  it takes forever to get to the action, and if you go down fast you have spend 80% of your play time running.

PvP:
i have no idea what Im doing there and it's not clear where anything is.  what a mess.

In PvE:

Mini Pets: I would like them to actually do something, like take all your junk items and sell them to the merchants in the nearest town. They dont actually go run off, but will have a timer depending how far the nearest merchant is. I like them to do something funny while they follow me around, like if im down, they will try to cheer me on to get up. not really affecting the processes but funny none the less, If Im defeated, they come up to me and kick me a couple of time, just for laughs. Last the Minis, and this one might be a bit of a strecth, I want them to repair my gear, with a cooldown timer depending on how far the nearest repair person is, you'll still have to pay the fee ofc.

More Skills: Im not talking about a crazy amount like GW1, but more like 3 of each type. Example Rangers have 3 Trap, 3 Shouts, 3 spirits. I want more of each, maybe increase the amount of each to 6 or 8.

lasty

Rangers Spirit summonings: Why do they all look the same, Necro. Elementals and Guardain have summoning skills, and they look different. Depending on what they do, I would like them to take on the form of a animal. And they should follow you without being traited like the other 3 profession I mention. they will still have a passive affect and a active affect like do now. For example, you summon a Eagle Spirit, it you give you and your group a  #% of targets projectiles of missing in passsive mode. Once you actived it, you and your Group are engulfed in a personal wind shield that reflects projectiles back at is soucres of # seconds.

these are some of the things I would like to see change and or add.

Main ones for me would be:

1. Mouselook "crosshair" mode - with the option to toggle on and off. Ground cast spells cast where you look. Mode disabled in menus (so you can use right click on items and stuff).

2. The ability to bind left click to an action/skill - I hardly ever use it outside of menus otherwise. Being able to bind right click to an action/skill would be nice too, especially if mouselook is toggled on by default.

3. The ability to bind mousescroll up and down for actions/skills - examples, change weapon, select previous/next target, etc.

For me personally, listed in order of top priority -> descending

Custom Chat Channels
This is a massively-multiplayer game - we need to be able to communicate with eachother on a larger scale. My guild as allied with several others for WvW purposes; we try to coordinate with eachother so we're doing the same thing at the same time, and right now the only options are to either send a PM to the leaders of the other guilds and hope they see it to relay it to their guild; or use 3rd party programs like Xfire and use chat-rooms as a macabre substitute for a custom chat channel - which many people are opposed to because they (understandably) don't want to have to download something extra and have it running in the background all the time.

Option to remove the ability queue.
I'm an engineer, and am in love with the grenade kit (plays like a hybrid of a FPS and MMO, which is awesome!) ...problem is, if I double-tap the 1 key, my toon takes a second to prepare the throw; throws the grenade; grenade lands and explodes; toon takes another second to prepare another throw; throws again at the initial location; grenade lands and explodes on the same spot as the first one. The skill factor regarding grenades comes in predicting where you're target is going to be standing a second or so after you execute the ability... so the natural approach (for me) is to CONSTANTLY be clicking where I think my target is going to be one-second after the click in question... except if you do that, the character throws grenades in chains of two at the same spot, over the course of about 2-3 seconds... which means that even if you're initial accuracy is 100%, only HALF of the grenades will actually hit their target. I want each keystroke to attempt to cast the ability: if the ability is on CD or unavailable, it should IGNORE the keystroke - do nothing. When the ability is ready to fire, I should have to press the keybind again. For the game to say "oh hey, this is what you wanted to do several seconds ago, so now that the ability is ready I'll just go ahead and do it for you now! I hope your target didn't move! *trollface*" ...some folks like the queue - fine, let em keep it, but let those of us that don't TURN IT OFF! (pls ^_^ )

UI Customization
I'm not talking about being able to redo every little bit of it like in WoW; but basic stuff like being able to move/resize parts of it. Being able to rearrange our abilities / save presets would be freaking amazing!

Max zoom ATLEAST 2 to 3 times further than current limit.
I swear, the scroll-wheel on my mouse is going to start a friction-fire. Let me zoom oooouuuuuut. This isn't a huge issue for smaller races (asura / short human, etc), but on larger toons such as norn or charr, the character takes up a massive portion of the screen... it's like there's a gownfruit or something taped to my screen... I want that 20% of my screen space to show the game world, not my character's buttocks.

1. I hate the downed state in both PvP and WvW. Yes it saves our butts sometimes but it removes the satisfaction from killing someone

2. More variety in the armor/weapon appearance department

3. Make it more like DAoC. (Needs realm points!)

Overall I do enjoy the game quite a bit, how much in a month or so ? We'll see.

I'll add this: it would be super-awesome if ANet added some kind of lounge in the main cities, which all the "idle" characters will have a reason to visit, hang around and talk - people who are in the laid back mood, don't feel like questing or PvP-ing. Like a huge living room which looks and feels relaxing and cool. Maybe add a BIG "TV" of some sort, where we could watch random ongoing PvP matches or duels. Something like that.

HOW ABOUT:

your armor actually evolves over time. You can customize it even further, not just dye it. For an example, if you use the same set long enough it gets scratches and blood stains over it. I'd REALLY like to see this. Decorate it with trophies, for instance, you stick your enemy head on the shoulder-spike. For both PvE and PvP.

I hate it that everything looks brand-new and shiny. I'd like to feel I have some history with my equipment, reminding me of everything I've been through with my trusty set of cool looking armor keeping me safe. I notice the blood stains on it, reminding me of all the battles I've taken part in. Not to mention it plain and simple - looks awesome.

My 2 cent.
  • Pushing esc stops your running.
    • This should be an option and not a standard. When autorunning and have your inventory open or character screen open, you often use esc to close the windoes. Pushing esc shold not stop your running. All you have to do is hit "S" or "W" anyway.
  • No UI configuration.
    • A MMO in 2012 designed for PC should at least have a minimum of UI configuration. Manualy resizing and movable objects. I know that you can move and resize the whole chat window and map, but thats it.
  • Chat options
    • The chat window needs more option like to be able to split up the chat windows, recolouring the chat, more sizes, new fonts. The guild chat colour with white snow in the backround gave me a headache :s.
  • Clock does not show on screen.
  • Guild upgrades need a propper description on what the different upgrades does.
  • The life of your pets does not show.
    • I have 1 - 4 pets. I would like to have the option to have a healthbar on my UI to show how much health my pets have.
  • Unclear “questlocation/quest-star".
    • Quests inside caves or underground shows up on maps like it is above ground. You can end up searching a wrong area that is above the quest area. The quest star should "gray out” when it is underground or in caves.
  • Gems
    • An example, LvL 20 gems only works on LvL 20 gear and up. Why does lvl 20 gems not work on lower level gear? When I hit LvL 20 all of my gear is below 20, but I have level 20 gems. It is not like my gear magicaly level up. I will not get more then 1 item, maybe 2 level 20 items before I hit 22. I can still use the gem, but my gear is not good enough quality. It is not like that you can twink in this game. Why not let us use the gems on lower quality gear. IMO if I want to gem up my "lower quality" gear I should be able to do so if I can use the gem.
  • Why no forum?
    • Yes, why no official forum? Many people believe that they have not made a forum because they want to prevent QQ’ing and bad publicity. I can understand that, but the most important thing in an MMO is the society. Preventing people from communicating because of the fear of a minority of whiners will just have the opposite effect. True that that only a minority of the players write in the forum, but still a lot of people do use the forum to find solutions and tips/hints about quests and other stuff. Like me, I was stuck on a quest with no option of getting help. Until several hours later when I had done some “heart” quests and by mistake fell down into a cave that ended up under where the main quest was....... I found another entrance into that cave. Just went back to the quest start area and into that cave, that was hidden. I have tried the map chat but to no help. And with no forum available I was stuck. had it not been for this unlucky, or should say lucky, fall down that side, I would not have found that quest area.

There is one thing I really would like to see changed:

Reward farming for crafting ingredients more
What I mean with this is, that currently if you are in need of mats to craft e.g. insignias you need a good amount of claws/totems/sacs and so on, but trying to farm them feels soooo unrewarding. You gain close to zero experience for killing mobs and the drop chance is so low that you have to eradicate a whole zone just to craft one single insignia (http://www.gw2db.com...wool-insignia-s requires 8 claws and without those I can not progress at all)
The argument that I get experience for crafting after the farming is not really a good one, since farming 1 hour to craft 1 insignia and then do one discovery is not really enough experience compared to doing de's or even hearts in the same time.

So my suggestion would be to either increase the drop chance of crafting ingredients or increase the experience you gain from killing npcs.

Nah, I rather restrict them into dungeons where I have to wait for my teammates to come. The only time where duels matter.

No, player to player trading is much more trouble than its worth. If you want to trade, use the Auction House. If you want player to player interaction you can do that. It is called making a conversation.

3) Cash on Delivery. A very neat feature. I don't see why not. It's not an imperative, but again - it's useful, why not.

No, for the same reason for Cash on Delivery.

No, ask the player what armor he is using and he'll tell you.

7) More armor and weapon skins at low levels. Having generic looking stuff really kills the enjoyment in finding new items. It doesn't have to be as epic looking as high end stuff, but please, offer us lots of variety. Variety is good.

You are looking at the wrong place, my character had good looking armor at level 10.

Join a low population server or join where no one is on.

9) Dye system for weapons. Explanation not needed I believe. It's cool, just like it is cool for armor pieces.

The reason why they didn't add dye system for weapons is because it looks ridiculous if they do.

10) Dyes and purchasable bag space. Would like to see them available account wide, and not tied on the character level. This, however, interferes with the cash shop which is a tricky matter, but still something I'd like to see and which makes sense.

Armorsmithing, Leathersmithing and Tailor makes bags that makes more space.

11) Transmutation. I am not sure about this, but I've read somewhere that the process of transmutation destroys the piece of origin. It shouldn't.

T-Stone fuses two items together. It doesn't make sense that you want to not destroy the piece of origin.

Yes there are Legendary Weapons crafting.

13) Linking stuff in chat channels. Gear, recepies, skills. Anything and everything.

Yes, you can do that.

Play another MMORPG, Guild Wars 2 is not for you.

It is part of the design

17) Mounts. Was always a huge fan. Now, after seeing AWESOME vehicles in the Black CItadel (tanks, bike-like vehicles) I'm even more hyped about them. Just AWESOME, GJ ANet for the design.

Nothing is more fun than seeing hundreds of people running around in large mounts and breaking my immersion. No thanks.

Play a Low population server for PvE. For PvP, create a room for 2v2 or 3v3 in PvP.

19) More options for the character generation. I am a guy over 30 and I want to look other than a 19 year old quarter-back who just walked out of an expensive hair-dresser. I want to look raw, brute, scarred, pissed off.

I've seen people create ugly characters. You just suck at making them.

I'd like to ask everyone to restrain themselves from making rude comments and taunt people for making suggestions they personally don't like. To clear things up, I don't want GW2 to mimic WoW, I want GW2 to evolve into a even better game than it already is.

There is always room for improvement and this thread should be as constructive as possible. There is no need to even comment anyone's ideas, simply post your own. Don't turn this into yet another flame war.

As a reminder, all features proposed should be considered with an open mind. GW2 is FAR FAR FAR from perfect and could benefit from improvements in many areas. Remember that.

They do, but they never look in Primordus Visions due to possible copywright problems.
