Also rapid fire damage is NOT based on range like the auto attack. Rapid fire should do more damage than the LB autoattack at short and possibly mid range. My guess is Rapid Fire is the game designers solution to damaging close range targets.

See, but my first test where the longbow performed at 11.2 and the shortbow performed at 11.4 also did not account for bleeds as I was not flanking the target.  I'll run another test w/o using rapid fire to double check.  You don't happen to have any metrics from your test do you?

Each trial is a 10 second period starting with the first hit from the weapon and ending exactly 10 seconds later. As stated previously, I was testing on the target dummies in fort mariner, which are not affected by crits or conditions. I was completely naked except for the weapon (I used the mystic shortbow and mystic longbow).

It looks like the longbow, especially with the 1500 range, is more a support weapon for your team. On the roof of the clocktower for example you can slow incoming with barrage amd dmg them for a decent amount

In terms of pure dmg remember barrage still attacks for like 3sec once you've completely casted it, so you can use rapid fire while they get hit with barrage. If you combines it with muddy terrain and quickening zephir (barrage > mt > rapid fire > qz) its a nice ammount of dmg.
IF you dont fail this you easily get way more dmg than the shortbow. But ye one evade and everything is *ed. However i really love the longbow just cz its a nuke thrower (2.5k on crit with a glass cannon build) and it just fits more to the "ranger style" ^^

In the PvP gear Knights is Vitality not toughness.  Not sure why this is as I would personally rather have toughness.

I went back and double checked but I can se where I wasn't as clear as I could have been.  So when I say "in the mists" I mean the PvP area, while you are there the only gear you can equip is PvP gear.  It is better for build comparisons than doing things in the actual game world as it ensures everyone ha access to the same stuff.
