So even though when I transmute the stats of a mask or whatever I bought with the hood from the thief and it tells me it's soulbound, I can still transfer it over to other characters?  Or do I actually have to go out there and FIND a medium armor headgear?

Sadly, this doesn't appear to work for Elementalists. Although I can equip it, the floating gem doesn't display in the game (even though it does appear while on the character select screen, as if it's permanently 'hidden')

no, ingame you almost only find masks. So alays keep your starter item if you chose hood or headband cause its most likely you won't find another one!

It worked for me too even though it appeared the white item was 'soulbound' after transmutation. Sweet now my ranger has the awesome headband he used to wear in beta wooo!

And just so everyone is aware, you can safely delete the other characters if you need to, and it doesn't affect the item.

I was curious if it messed up the "soulbound" tag, but it had no effect.

I was kinda hoping they'd put in an NPC who sells the starter armour for cheap somewhere in the game. Just one less thing we have to carry around.

That's probably wishful thinking for a game whose revenue generation is based around selling you additional inventory and bank slots.

I couldnt get this to work.

Heres my question(s):

• Do I have to send a non-solbound mask to the newly made thief, and use a transformasforgasfor (forgot the name) stone aquired by the new thief? If so, that requires me to complete a whole map on my new thief, and MAYBE get a transorma... stone. Worst case scenario I have to do several maps to get one.
  
• If not, then: Can I send the soulbound hood to my main-thief and transform it then? Would that mess up the soulbound-thingy?

The stones are account bound, so if you have some already, yay. I keep mine in the bank, which is shared for all characters.

I dropped a Transmute stone and a Rawhide Mask from one of the town vendors in the bank.

Started a new Thief. Did the tutorial, got to a bank.

Right click and use the stone. Select the Anonymity Hood. Select the stats of the Rawhide mask. Transmute. It will say Soulbound.

Hop back on your other character. Remove and equip the Soulbound hood. It says Soulbound, yet works. I've done this to get all the masks, as well as the engineer monocle.

I tried this, and I could only find (lowest lvl) a lvl 10 rawhide mask. When I try to transmute them it says "required lvl 10"... And the "Item Transumation" button is greyed out, cant push it. If I need a lvl 2 rawhide mask, where to find it? O.o

I think that may be too early unless you get a world drop or craft something for earlier. Try it with the level ten. I didn't attempt this until I was 50 using the 50 level vendor mask. It should work with the ten!

It should work. Just make sure you're using the transmute stone correctly.

You put one item in the left slot and one in the right. Then you select, from either the left or right option, the elements you want for the final item: the look (icon), the stats, and the runes (if any). You should end up with one column of details (icon, stats, optional runes) and then the "Transmute" button should light up.

Did an error msg pop up or something?  Just to be clear, this is what the transmutation process should look like.

well i have been asking myself that lately. I hope they won't sing with bans or other penalties!
The fact that you can recover your hood isn't something they would ban you for i suppose, since there's nothing wrong with being able to get back what you lost!
but i doubt they will like the idea of transferring engineer goggles to thieves etc...

At least we didn't get banned yet, it's not like we are having an unfair advantage, or are really breaking fundamental rules.

at the time i did it, i was raging because i really really wanted my hood back and didn't get it to work. So i was trying everything and suddenly it worked. So when i wrote the explanation i didn't really remember what i did: hence the shaky explanation.

I'll trash my engineer monocle when they give me a proper eye patch.

As for the Hood, really, that's the sort of thing they should have a vendor for, the starter cosmetic gear. Or even sell on the gem store, it's the kind of cosmetic junk that we...well, we're devising methods for. Why not just take my money?

hi guys,

ive tried this method but it doesnt work, my current thief is level 35 and my new one is level 2
i've put a random mask in the bank with the stones and logged in with my new thief
it says i cant trasmute the items because the required mask level is level 15.
does that mean i have to level up my new thief to level 15???

of course i also tried the opposite and put the hood in the bank and logged in with my level 35, but this time i cant get the hood out of the bank

What mask is your "random mask"? with that i mean, what's th estats, item color etc..

does the colour really matter? its a level 15 mask, my new thief is level 2 so it says it cant trasmute onto the mask cause my new thief is not level 15

that isn't normal. i mean , it wouldn't be th efirst time i transmute a lvl 63 appearance on a lvl 50 item hile my character is lvl 55. i have never gotten that error message. ill test it tomorrow to be sure

This thread is mainly for if you deleted your hood you started out with, and wanted to Transmute it back by making a new Thief correct? I kept my hood, and tried to transmute it onto a blue I'm currently using, but for some reason it won't let me. Don't you need a Blue item to Transmute onto another Blue item? or should White>XMute>Blue work?

normally everything should work. This morning i transmuted the appeaance of an exotic sword on a rare item. So i guess you can also transmute blue on white etc...

I accidentally screwed up with a transmute last night losing my hood(at level 80 - extra sting) and had read about this on reddit awhile back so gave it a shot.  It worked flawlessly.

For people having trouble, I'll cut out the extra steps.

1 - Make new thief, choose hood.
2 - Get a low level white mask(I chose a lv15 one on TP - was cheap)
3 - On new character, transmute hood appearance onto mask stats.  (Your level DOES NOT MATTER FOR THIS - my thief was fresh from tutorial)
4 - New hood claims it is soulbound, put in bank anyway and withdraw on main. It should work.

This..... The ONLY hood in this game besides the starter hood is the order of whispers hood (which doesn't fit the look im going for... freaking so poofy). As someone who is trying to get the most assassin looking thief i can, having a nice armor skin (lvl 70 exotic duelist armor for skin) with either a shogun helmet (80 exotic) or the whispers hood which is HUGE on my human male is a seriously disappointing . Them even putting the "hood" option feels like an insult, because they don't have any "hoods" in game.
