Do you know if it is the armor with level 55 requirement or 80?

All of the unique armor skins are level 80.

I somewhat regret making an Asuran necromancer.  I suppose it fits in with lore well enough... it's another field of magical study for Asurans to go in to, but it just doesn't feel right anymore.  I go to Rata Sum and I feel odd as a death-wielding magic user.... feel I should be a mesmer or elementalist I guess.

I may end up shelving my 80 Asura necro and recreate him as a Charr or Human.... Charr is a bit of a stretch too since the Flame Legion is the only real legion that embraces magic and the others are highly distrustful of it.

Kinda. I was running the ogre fort defense in Ascalon and two of the Ash legion defenders were casting Life Siphon from their daggers. I feel like Blood and Iron are anti-magic in favor of Warrior and Engineer, while Ash are pragmatists who are willing to get themselves dirty, even with magic, to get the job done.

Also, a reversed tiger stripe Charr (with black base and orange stripes) looks amazing with the Wraith mask.

Finally, have you heard the male Charr talk?  That a voice that even dead people will listen to.

I am playing a Sylvari Necromancer. It's not strange for a Sylvari to be obsessed with death because they haven't had a great deal of experience with it yet. Besides, one of the game's most powerful NPC Necromancers is a Sylvari. Trahearne is a clear precedent for Sylvari becoming Necromancers. I'm a conditionmancer right now, and I have to say it feels right for the character. Minions were tolerable as a build, but something wasn't right about my elf-like Necromancer commanding a legion of undead. Curses and plagues seem more like his style.

Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot of him with the mask, but I'm currently using a full set of Acolyte's armor. It looks pretty Necromancer like.

Yea, the more "scholarly" armor looks great on a Sylvari.. as does their culture armor with the right color scheme.  Certain races as necromancers need certain types of gear to really look the part imo.  Asurans need at least SOME of their culture gear like maybe the Savant helm or something.... they still need that technomancer feel to them to really look Asuran!

The only problem with this race + armor is that you look like the henchman from the Super Mario movie with tiny heads and big bodies...

Edit: Humans are so ugly...big assets on the women and not much more.

I really like the combinations you get when you buy sylvari racial armor and mix it up with some dungeon gear:

And this is why I was happy when I rolled my necro as a charr.

Is a female charr, and she sounds so happy when she turns.

Pure white also gives her an unearthly glow.

@Iron Legion Necros: Yeah, engineer fits with the story, but the first story mission told me possible contract necro help, so it can fit.

Even though my necro is a female human for the sake of being able to use the female light sets which i love to bits ( ele and mesmer where taken away already by male sylvari and human) I have to say Charr necro can look seriously awesome. ... and I really want a secondary necro charr just cause i love the look so much.
Can look really cool paired with their racial armour imo.

I went Slyvari for my necro, heh i like Sylvari for caster classes, my ele is also Sylvari and i plan to make a Sylvari mesmer in the future.
I tried out a norn necro because i liked the armor but the voice didn't fit the personality i was going for. I was lucky enough to get a pretty bad ass name for my Necro. Valdimar Blackthorn, I think i chose well :D

I concur on sylvari. Belive it or not I started with a Norn necro - leveled to 24 or so then realized the armor didn't suit his looks at all. So rerolled Sylvari - pure white with solid black eyes. No comparison, Sylvari looks much more necro with the option for solid black eyes.

Slightly off topic, but I'm getting higher level now and looking at various end game armor options for my male Sylvari Necro. He's got human skin color in order to look elflike, since he's actually a port of my old Baldur's Gate character :P Anyway, I like the scholarly appearance but I was hoping to add a sinister element to it as well. Most of the dungeon armors don't look that good imo. I'm currently sporting Acolyte armor and like the look, but I want to mix in some pieces from other sets to spice it up. Problem is I'm not sure what to mix in. Maybe some pieces from the Sylvari cultural or TA sets?

It's not strictly on topic, I know, but it is somewhat related to aesthetic appearance of different races for our profession.

of course a the best race for a necro would be asura (sylvari on the 2nd place). asura is smart, witty and excels in magic the traits all necromancer should have. asura is also small and that helps in pvp since a necro is always a primary target :P
sylvari are the avatar of trees, they represent the cycle of life and death and necromancer is a job that regulates the flow of life and death. so i find it very fitting to the lore
human is too generic, norn is too large, char...... is just ridiculous :P

Humans ,because they have Grenth and look best in most necro armor .Asurans are too little and sylvari works best only with armor made out of dead leaves.Minions are also fleshy, unlike the sylvari.Norn are too muscular for a necro and charr disdain magic users

Charr with CoF armor, except head that is tier 2 cultural. Usually go with full black but didnt work out well for the print! Hoping that you can change race in the future tho. Would like a norn necro.

I would personally go with Norn.

Choose the least bulky body type, since you are a master of arcane arts, not a mobslicing warrior. Then take a look at those badass tattooes and tribal paintings, which will surely match the facepaint you will choose during Necromancer creation.

And don't forget badass black beard.

Also, light armor may look riddiculous on Charr necro (all depends on body type) and Sylvari necromancer doesn't fit lore in my opinion since they fight against decay and corruption spread by Nightmare Court.
