Hi, Trying to rejigger myself into a support/dps dungeon/wvw build (swapping rifle for longbow, of course) so I looked at all the skills ,and shout builds are popular, but not my playstyle, can't get the idea of them being "cooldowns" out of my head and tend tos ave them till i'm bursting, and that's bad -- so I'm going with a more passive, overall :oomph: build

What the a "good" support build hsould have

1.) Support, help the group, buff the group, heal the group, make the group as good as you possibly can by simply being there

2.) DPS, this game requires you be able to hurt things,

3.) Take hits: It's inevitable, even if you dodge like a jackrabbit, being able to take a shot to the face is important.

What I came up with:

Weapons: Greatsword/rifle
Utilities: Dolyak Signet, Banner of strength, Banner of Defense. Battle Standard
Healing: Healing signet
Traits:
25 arms (Deep Cuts, Forceful greatsword)
20 Toughness (Last stand, sure-footed)
30 Tactics: (Inspiring battle standard,  Inspiring banners, Empowered allies)

Breaking it down to each of the 3

Support:

90 toughness/vit/power/cond damage from banners
Fury, might, and swiftness constantly from the banners.
AOE revive from battle standard.
70 power from Empowered allies
AoE healing from each banner thanks to Inspiring BAttle standard
AoE might when I revive, which I do a lot, and very well thanks to the tacticsm inors

DPS:

Furious greatsword, might every time I crit -- Building precision/cond/toughness in that order, i'll crit a lot. 30% boon duration from 30 tactics says i'll have a large number of stacks when coupled with battle standard

Precise strikes -- see above, crit a lot, deep cuts means htey last 50% longer. even without deep cuts in the current build I can manage 5-7 stacks on a good day, so.. plenty of passive "oomph" to be had, also Rifle bleeds.

Taking hits:

290 toughness 390 vit from talents/banners

Last stand for a free balanced stance when weaving into melee.

Healing signet, Adrenalized healed, inspiring battle standard should give TONS of regen, seeing as arcing slash is kind of a "eh" adrenaline dump with battle standard up.

Dolyak signet doing.. whatever it does.

Unsure points:

Inspiring battle standard, not sure if the heal is worht those last 5 points, I could go 25/20/25 and get 10% more damage since they'll always be bleeding, always.

Dolyak signet: stabilityi s nice, but.. damage reduction worth it over say.. Balance stance? giving me two pops of it (one from last stand which iirc is on a sepeate cooldown, one from normal use)

Anyhow, comments? YOU ARE DIONG IT WRONG's, etc?

The link doesn't work, press the link yourself to see why. I suggest that you write down the build yourself.

This is my incredibly successful support dungeon build: Posted Image

I use Sword/Shield and Rifle. The regeneration on banners is INCREDIBLY good, but stacks in duration, not intensity, so only bring 1 (other than Battle Standard) for constant regeneration. Also, with healing signet, regeneration, and healing from adrenaline through the trait (NEVER use your burst skill), you regenerate SO much health. Using 25% hp Endure Pain, Endure Pain utility, and Shield Stance means you'll survive. This build makes you a godly reviver and team player as well as healer and buffer. :)

@ Arys:  How is your damage output? Also, what stats do you focus on with gear?

My support warrior:

I used a healing shout warrior. But even though it is healing shout it works offensively, defensively and supportively.

The build uses Sword/shield and rifle.

Healing skill: Healing Surge

Utility: On my Mark, Shake it off, For Great Justice.

Elite: Signet of Rage or Battle Standard.

Traits:

+20 Arms
+10 Defense(Or remove 10 points from arms and put it in defense. but the bleeds will not be as strong.)
+30 Tactics
+10 Discipline

Important traits
-Deep cuts
-Vigorous shouts
-Lung Capacity
-Inspiring shout
-Blademaster/crackshot/Protective shield

Offensively, you can build up adrenaline faster when you use shout thanks to inspiring shouts when you use your shouts. When you fill up, you can unleash the powerful flurry. Thanks to deep cuts, it is possible to stack 20 bleeds on the enemies. The numbers are big. Activating signet of rage will make yourself stronger. Using On my mark will weaken the enemy and you can kill the enemy faster.

Defensively, you can build up adrenaline faster for healing surge. With a full adrenaline bar, you get a stronger heal. Vigorous shouts also lets you heal yourself and allies. Vigorous shout's burst heal saved my ass from death from strong attacks. With the shield, if you are dying, use shield stance and run away.

Supportively, with Shake it off, you can remove your allies conditions and possibly save them from death that snares. I managed to save someone from death with my burst heal, they were about to die in one more hit. Timing this right will save a lot of people. It also frees them from wasting their healing skill. For Great Justice grants might and fury. But with +30 on tactics, 3 stacks of might will last 32 seconds while the skill's cooldown is 25 seconds.

Why use shouts instead of banners?

In my opinion, banners are annoying. They have a cast time and if you want to be mobile, you have to bring one banner only or have other friends haul the banner for you. Shouts are instant cast, and have low-recharge time.

If you arent using the burst skill, then the adrenaline heal would be better IMO. Healing signet and full on regen is great for general PvE (fighting 2+ Orr mobs without loosing any health) but in dungeons mobs hit so hard you want a burst heal. At least that's my experience, I also run a banner healing build.

Also, the battle standard is crap. Signet - much better. Seriously, the BS is BS. In a good group any player will be revived faster than the time you can cast the BS, which makes the entire thing pointless.

As an alternative to the above, please try out my build, Sonic Boon.
The spec is built for damage, and as a bonus you get shout heals.
Some things the build gives you:
constant 25 stacks of might, lots of Vuln, bleeds, perma fury, near perma swiftness, 1400 shout heals, condition removal, boon support, a 9k self heal, lots of toughness, a good amount of vitality, etc
The build is overall very good, I suggest you try it out, read the comments on my thread, etc.
Hope you like it!
