Anyone having fun in WvW after que'ing for hours.....only to play for a short while and start hearing.....WOOOOOHHHH WOOOOHHH WOOOOHHH WOOOOHHH WOOOOHHH....

Over and over and over...

Only way to get rid of the sound is to close the game meaning now you have to re que for WvW all over again....

Anyone else getting this bug in WvW? Alot of players in my guild are getting this.

I've gotten it several times. Both in WvW and a while back when fighting Shadow Behemoth.

For me sometimes an entity's sound is not controlled by the volume controls and is on full blast. might it be the same thing?

I think OP is talking about a loud, blaring siren-like noise that cuts out every other sound in the game. Kinda reminds me of the siren in the Silent Hill movie. Pretty creepy.

havent had this happen yet. REALLY hope it doesnt happen, either. cause that sounds like the most annoying thing ever. especially if its loud...

id just turn sound off if it happened to me in wvw though.

I'm using a Creative Xi-Fi Titanium HD and I get the same problem.

Yeah, friggen siren noise is so annoying. Queue for WvW for 3 years only to get in for 5 mins and get off because of the sound <.< Though I found a solution. I asked a guy in chat and he said to turn down game volume and lower sound quality a bit. He said that the siren noise was happening because the game was overloading the computers sound stuff. Not too sure what exactly he was talking about, but I tried his cure and it actually worked.

I'm using HT Omega Striker 7.1. It's not an AC97 issue.

I did notice that it only happens when there's a metric buttload of things going on (i.e. Shadow Behemoth with like 50 people, or zerg vs zerg in WvW). But I doubt it's my sound card overloading, as it's a pretty damn good card. I'm pretty sure it's the game engine simply bugging out when it's made to play like a billion different sounds at the same time.

It's really annoying though. You're right, after about 6 hours in WvW queue, as soon as I get into a huge fight... WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WWWOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH

It's the game not my drivers. Only happens to me in WvW.

I had the same problem for a while until I lowered the sound quality to the middle of the slider.

I had these issues too.  I re-installed the game and haven't had the issue again (yet).

I also had this problem in WvW. You need to lower the sound quality settings - that helped for me.

I don't think enough people are having this problem, and the small chance that anyone of them made a report is even smaller still.  99% of players never bother with Sound settings, especially Sound Quality.

Most of my guild get this issue and anyone I have spoken to in game, can't be 100% sure but seems pretty common to be coming up as often as it is.

It makes playing WvW and waiting for WvW annoying and frustrating as hell, have to keep quitting game everytime you get this bug. It also has nothing to do with sound settings or quality.

It literaly turns off all sound and replaces it with a pulsating burst of siren noise....WOOOAAHHH WOOOOOAHHHH WOOOAHHHHH

You have no choice but to shut down the game and restart.

I just shut the game sound individually, since I'll be on some form of voice comms in WvW anyway.

lol, this happens to me often. It's generally when 34242 people are bashing a gate down, so I think it's "too many" sounds going off at once and it just breaks it somehow. It's incredibly annoying and maybe 1/4 times it's a precursor to my game just crashing, which REALLY sucks in WvW when defending/taking a keep.

Same happens to me, 4 times already I had to restart the game in WvW. Also have premium STX card, so sound card shouldn't be a problem.

Is a sound glitch, It happen long ago i thought Anet had fix looks like it doesn't, to solve this you need to reset your volume/sound to default don't set anything to max and restart your client. Hope this help!

Actually the fix for this is to reduce the "Sound Quality" settings to lowest. This will fix the issue (tested by few of my friends too). This will also solve the extreme loud noises of certain summons/mobs.

Queued up for 10 frigging minutes for WvW so I just muted it and am carrying on!

Temp fix: F11 > Audio > change audio device. This will send the sounds from GW2 to another system, which mutes the game but also gets rid of the sound (so you don't have to restart) and can still WvW.

Longer fix: Delete local.dat in your GW2 folder. I saw this on gw2forums and it helped a lot of people. I deleted mine last night and have yet to get it again, guy in guild did this and got it an hour later, so it's up to you. NOTE: You will have to adjust your sound prefs again as well as log in.

I've yet to see any other fix than these two.

I've also gotten this before when playing, usually in a large zerg.

As other players have suggested, I think that this is a case of too many sounds going off at once and possibly overwhelming the game's memory or something. Restarting the game seems to be the only "fix" apart from just muting the game.

Most of GW2's audio mixing is software based, your soundcard drivers count for very little. Heck it could just plain be a problem not only from there being alot of sounds going off, but the sheer strain of processing sound mixing and all that other CPU heavy stuff bogging down big events.
