Hello, coming close to level 30 so I want to start planning Elite Skills. I play very offensively, so I am interested in Hounds of Balthazar and Tome of Wrath, but these cost 30 each...and I am told apparently if you save up 200 skill points you get a legendary weapon?

Anyone have the skills and can attest to them?

I have all elite human/guardian skills, and use Hounds of Balthazar the most, by far. It's great for solo play, and works well in groups.

I think you still have to craft the legendary weapon at 200 skill points. That's just the price of 1 material.

Tome of Wrath is only 10 points.  Tome of Courage (the healing/support one) is 30 points.

I went with Renewed Focus for my first elite, it's just the most well-rounded elite that can fit into practically any style build. I did end up picking up the golem powersuit and then Tome of Courage subsequently, but as far as Tome of Wrath vs. Renewed Focus goes, Renewed Focus definitely.

I find them both not as usefull as i was hoping they would be. I use tome of wrath at this time (only because the #5 skill looks rlly cool)
I found Mistfire wolf a lot more usefull then either of the norn or guardian elites.

I'll just tell you what I use and why, hopefully that helps:

I use Tome of Wrath in WvW and some PvE situations (in dungeons when I need to). Tome of Wrath is simply the best AoE skill the in the game. Not only does it give you the ability to spam AoE burning and high direct damage for a long duration at a long range, but it also gives you the ability to use a hard-hitting AoE knockdown and to give two bursts of 3s Quickness to you and allies, per activation of Tome of Wrath. Being able to nearly spam AoE cripple is also very useful.

For most of PvE I use Renewed Focus since 3s Invulnerability can be useful when used correctly, and if you even have 5 points in the Virtues trait line, being able to spam your Virtues has a huge effect. Plus, it's on a low cooldown.

I really want to edit the sound files to replace that annoying "FEEL MY WRATH!" spam with #1 to nunu-bot laugh from league of legends.

Tome of courage(the support one) and hounds of balthazar are the only 2 elites costing you 30skill points each. Also note though, you need to unlock 2 normal elite skills before you can access the next tier. The first tier of elites only costs 10 points each though, so look to save up 50 skill points if you want hounds of balthazar.

Also don't bother saving points for the legendary weapon just yet. The 200 skill points will only give you 1 of 4 pieces needed, and the others are very expensive. Once you reach level 80, you get a skill point every time you would theoretically level up afterwards so there's no need to crunch thinking you won't have enough.

Tome of Wrath is epic but good lord does it make you squishy. Im nearly dead by the time the elite wears off.

Basically Summons a wolf that looks like its on fire( blue flames unlike the Hounds of Balthazar). It does this cool skill where it summons mini wolves that jump up in the air and turns into a meteor shower (blue flames again unlike the regular meteor shower).

It kinda matches the guardian blue flame so i like it

Tome of Wrath is a great elite, I'd get it first. You can use 4 and 5 to aoe stun everyone around you and do massive damage.
