Here is my hypothetical character for the sake of round numbers.
Critical chance: 50
Critical damage: 15
Assume average poke with the sword hits for 100 base damage, and you swing once per second.
So for base line 100 hits in 100 seconds with O% crit your total damage is 10,000 and dps would be 100.
Critical chance I get...at 50, you will get a critical hit 50% of the time. The part I don't get is the critical damage number. Is that a percent? So with my example at 15% crit damage, any time you critical, you hit for 115 damage.
So for 100 hits, 50 are 100 damage, and 50 are 115 damage, in 100 seconds. Which makes total damage in 100 seconds 10,750 and your dps 107.5. That is equivalent to a 6.9% damage increase.
It really just doesn’t seem like a lot of bang for your buck. The only think that might make that different is if the crit damage has a base of say 150% damage and your 15% gets tacked on to that.
Anyone know how it works enough to shed some more light on this topic for me and anyone else who might be wondering?
