No please, WoW that way ----->
I would love some original furries like the Skritt or Tengu which I've wanted to play since GW factions.
If ANet adds any sort of bear to a playable race I am quitting.

Have you played the game? In a norn zone?

The obvious possibilities:
-Largos (they're interesting certainly, but there's very little lore development besides the few NPCs ingame)
-Tengu (practically confirmed)
-Kodan (probable, but I have my doubts)
-Skritt (unlikely)
-Ogre (unlikely)
-Hylek (unlikely)
-Quaggan (unlikely)
-Grawl (unlikely)
If I HAD to guess,
Tengu = Primordus
Kodan = Jormag
Largos = Bubbles
I can't think of anything for Kralkatorrik/Elona.

I still can't believe people like you exist. I hope they add Kodan now.

You 100% capture my exact opinion. I'm also hoping that the largos originate underwater and have an underwater home city. As a playable race, my impression is that everyone and their mother is going to want to play the 'badass mysterious winged vampire/elf race'. I'm just hoping that their faces are kinda creepy/insectoid/amphibious (yet appealing of course) so that they do not resemble elves in any way but I trust ArenaNET to be able to create yet another unique race. Looking forward to learning more about the largos.

For the people wanting Kodan, try to understand that that really isn't a viable option. There really isn't enough depth to the race to be playable. Your aesthetics are "polar bear", and that's it. There's not a lot of potential variation there, nor in their culture, which while interesting is introverted and similarly one-note. They also have no major hub of their civilization. They're a very, very minor race. Even the Hylek could make a better case at this point. At least they have variations in tribal culture and appearance.
I don't know enough about the Largos yet to have a real opinion, but the little that I do know (proud-warrior-race-of-aquatic-butterfly-elf-assassins) already has me cringing.

WoW has humans too, better quit while you're ahead.

Otherwise, the options would be centaurs or harpies, right? Neither of which sound like they would do well underwater.

I really want to play as a Hylek though in particular, they're so cool.

Grawl are very unlikely, they're not just fiercely tribal but also very hostile and not only that but they're pretty stupid....they start worshipping a new god any time a different statue is in the room.

Say hello to our old favourite race... the Fanged Iboga!

Also, I'd love to play as Kodan. Tengu seem really cool, but Kodan are my favourite at the moment.
1: They're polar bears.
2. They look amazing, especially when fighting.
3. Ever heard of character creation? I'm sure they can be changed slightly and given more customisation options (because, in fairness, they do look the same at the moment).
4. They actually have quite interesting lore. They have the Voice, and they're sailing on giant icebergs with sails (away from jormag). They'd just need explaining a little more, but the lore is there.
5. They can be fierce or kind, which is what's needed for a race. I haven't seen a friendly grawl in my travels, and skritt... noo, they're just not cool enough. I mean, really, who wants to play as a rat?
But to each their own, I guess

Excuse me, but none of those are original.
Skritt are just Skaven, created in Warhammer in 1986.
Tengu are just a take on an Asian mythological creature, they exist as playable races in many table top RPGs.
I wish to play Kodan, not *ing Pandas.
I want to play them for both their look and their culture.
And please, before opening your mouth in the future realize that WoW did not invent a single race, all the races in WoW were taken from other sources.

While I agree with the rest of your post... What are the Draenei ripped off from then? O_o Of all the WoW races they seem to be the most unique, or at least have the most obscure source of them all. Dwarves, humans, gnomes, elves, orcs, undead, tauren, goblins, etc are all standard fantasy. Never seen anything quite like a draenei outside of WoW.
On-topic:
My guess would be Kodan will be playable in the future, and I am ok with that. I hope they even add a panda-style skin. I'm dead serious. In fact, just do what they did with charr. Add a lot of skins based on various types of bears (cats for charr) to help with variety. Boom. New race.
Tengu are obvious to the point it'd be more surprising if they DIDN'T add them in the future than anything.
And can anyone link a pic of a largo? I haven't found any in-game yet and hadn't heard of them prior to this thread. o_o

EDIT: I stand corrected. It's been decided that pandas are bears, or at least pretty closely related to them. http://www.britannic...-classification

Basically in D&D, if you took any medium to large horned demon and added an aberrant template, you'd have Draenei.
The demon would get you the horns and hooves, the aberrant template would give you the blue skin and the tentacles.
Mashing two things together is slightly more original than usual, but it's still just mashing two things together.

That would explain it then. Never played D&D and most demons now in games are just random monsters with demonic styling than any template.
It does make their story a lot less original though knowing that. Oh well.

Allow me to add my thoughts to your sentiment.
Quagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquagganquaggan! They're awesome and they're cool and they have an angry form and they have heroes and they're just perfect in every way.
I don't know why no-one else wants them. The obvious one is going to be tengu. A capital city walled off within the confines of the main map? Easy expansion plans, I think.

Give me a "help the Quaggan" - type event and I swear I *will* do it, even if I was previously just about to log out. The little cuties hypnotize me, I can never not help them
At least I know what race all my Humans, Sylvari and Asura will choose for racial sympathy ^^
