WvW drop rate? (Badges of Honour)

So why is this? I know that random loot, like weapons, armour and crafting materials that are dropped are determined by the player you killed's level.
At the moment I'm presuming that badge drop rate is higher on higher level enemies, but why am I getting this fluctuation where at times the drop rate is pretty decent but at others, it's very, very slow?

Ive been out there for hours and have a total of 14.. It's so frustrating as a ranger I can shoot someone down, yet Long before I can get to them they've already been finished off.. They really need to do something about how these are rewarded..

They seem to drop from anyone from the enemy factions (players or mobs).
It would be nice if you received them more like karma awards, instead of a physical object that you have to loot and carry around/bank.

I believe the main reason they are part of loot is because they were added for BWE3 (or 2? I forget) and the reason the bags drop at your feet is because it makes it easier for you to loot so you don't have to run into the middle of the mob. People would riot if you had to loot from bodies on the ground while you're defending a wall.
I think this system was put in place because it was less time consuming than coding a whole new WvW-only currency into the game so late in the process.

I think Siege-users get more badges because they are safer and get their loots next to them. I'm a well necro and I do a lot of in-the-face aoe's and running away. I can't pick up or find my bags of loots most of the time.
This probably applies to all melee players. (I count myself as melee since my wells are self-target aoes and I have to run next to my targets)
Also applies to conditioners, I'd often find a random bag of loot appear while i'm window shopping in the citadel. If only I A-net get their bug fixed so they can return back to instant inventory deposit.

Hold down ctrl to make all the loot bags in LoS more easily visible as the name appears over them!

I remember i got like more than 6 badges when i first enter wvw back when i was lvl 10
And im pretty sure i put it in my bank (with other first time bg bonuses) and it disappeared...
And i heard that we can get the badge from trash mobs around wvw, is that true?

Right there with ya. I put my badges in the bank from various profession's excursions into WvW, too, and I know I don't have 50 yet, so I must be equally bad on all of them. Of course, I can't afford arrowcarts and such as a rule, I hear those can really rack you up some kills.

as for getting them...nah, nothing consistent. though i do think its like pve events, you gotta "tag" players for a bit of damage to get anything. so even here in wvw the profs with lots of awesome aoe get everything for just spamming aoe and hardly contributing "properly" and the rest get screwed out of loot.

Group of 5 people will guarantee more bags, maybe not badges, only thing that is annoying is if you get killed and you have bag loots, which you was unable to get due to death, by rights should be there when you return to the scene. So my alt char i have been playing this in wvw and gained more badges than my lvl 80 necro. I would like to know how long it would take to complete a set of armor and weapon with badges.

the color!
anyways, it'll take anywhere from a month to forever to complete a set of invader gear, especially with the accessories too, they are really expensive, a set of invader accessories alone is almost 2 thousand badges, the gear is also very expensive

Badges seem to be related to the amount of damage you contributed to the player. You can finish someone and get nothing because you havent done enough damage. Most I have ever gotten is 2 from a bag on solo kills so that is the pvp limit I think.
If you damaged someone enough and didnt kill them you still can get a bag when they die. The bag will spawn where you are at that moment. If your moving you may miss it.
On occasion a npc vertern or champ has dropped them when I solo kill.
The OP that got 50 in a hour must be the best player in the game .... If your playing objects, and roles, you can contribute to lots of kills and still get nothing.
