Hey guys, i need help building a human guardian that is pretty tankish while still being able to dish out a great deal of damage.

I would prefer not to be too focused on shouts. I want to keep the sword and shield for support and great sword for damage and the 2 signets i posted.

This is my proposed idea, but i want your guys's opinion. Im trying to use the class for PvE and WvW mainly so keep that in mind. But if there are minor adjustments i could make to jump into PvP i would appreciate them as well.

Thanks all for the help.

-Also notice that i took out the runes and stuff to show the raw stats
-Armor, runes, and accessory proposals would also be appreciated

But you have three shouts posted on your build? I'm confused. You must have the wrong build pasted, mate. But going to this build you posted, I don't think that you would be needing the Zeal trait, as you're VoJ isn't recharged every skill without Renewed Justice from the Radiance tree. As for the other traits I like what you picked for Honor and Virtues.

Builds meant for PVE cannot work in PVP, and vice versa. If it does "work", then there are many tweaks available that could make it work better.

Not having any Grandmaster traits seems weird to me. Removing the randomly placed PVP jewel and you're left with 12% crit. I'd just remove the precision point and get Pure of Voice in honor.

This coming from someone that has max Zeal.

That build should work well for your stated goal.

I would suggest trying-out condensing your 10/10/10 split into 25-30 Radiance, because I think you'll get the same survivability with much higher damage output (20% signet recharge is huge on your heal as well). May also want to consider Save Yourselves over Retreat. It gives 10 seconds lower of swiftness, but 10 seconds of every other boon and can be much more flexible since it can be used for defense, offense, or escape. Retreat may be better for WvWvW though.

Agreed on Save Yourselves in place of Retreat. Retreat is good for navigating towns, but Aegis is really hit-or-miss (it rarely blocks the big attacks you need it to). Save Yourselves is basically 12 seconds (with your +boon duration) of crazy death. Might and Fury are nice, Fury especially for your low-crit build, and stacked properly they can really boost your damage output. When you really need it, Justice + SY will give you 4 stacks of might, +20% crit, +33% move speed, -33% damage, a heal, an AoE blind, and set your next target on fire so you can do bonus damage.

If you really want to increase damage, drop some out of both Valor to increase Radiance up to at least 15. Being able to renew Justice all day long is a huge help in PvE, especially with Fiery Wrath. Also, I'd recommend swapping to 20% signet recharge over vulnerability - at most you can stack 3% bonus damage with that trait, and the signet recharge means you can use your heal far more often, which makes you far more tanky. And you're already losing one condition every 10s, so the second one isn't likely to be super-useful in PvE. I can't comment on WvW, having not done much yet.

In short, I'd do something like this.
