We all know how a-net loves to make pop-culture references in the game.

What's your favorite one so far in the game?

For me it needs to be this one:

http://www.gw2db.com...riforge-pendant

The shape, the name, the colors matching the 3 goddess colors and the description mentioning Power, Courage and Wisdom totally made my day!!

I also loved certain mechanical character (don't want to spoil it) doing the terminator thumb-up while drowning in the lava.

I dislike pop-culture references, I feel they're out of place and kind of assume you're a television addict.

The only exceptions are references to other games, love those.
How about the in-game memes... I mean they gave Mending to Warriors. That was the funniest joke I've seen.

One of the escort missions in Gendarran, the supply chief was named Chief Cherpa, which, if you're unaware, was an Ewok from Star Wars.

I don't like them too much, really. I find that they're tacky and they ruin immersion. I much prefer humour which is based upon the game itself. Like the humour that's abounds in the charr area. How the charr make tongue-in-cheek comments about the dynamic events is beautiful, and an amazing contrivance.

"Hoo-wee! That was one amazing fireworks display! I could do that every day and not get bored!"

This one happens after a charr's pet devourer (named Gir) dies in one event, and you help him find another: "Yes... this one looks similar to my old pet. He has the same markings, and he's about the same size... yes! Yes! I shall take this one and call him Gir!!"

Though there's also one line in Lion's Arch which exemplifies how terribad the charr are at insulting (which I find endearing). And involves a charr going all tsundere.

Asura Kid: "Ha, mister! You look like a big, dumb beast!"
Charr Lionguard (clearly taken aback): "Y-yeah?! Well... you have a face like a raisin!"

Then there was the charr military cadence, and the Primus who was working with cubs as devourer caretakers.

And do I even need to mention Tybalt Leftpaw? Do I really?

(The charr writing is pretty great across th board.)

I will admit that Haneri Jenos Sr did get a chuckle out of me, but honestly? I prefer the game being funny by its own merits.

Serious people are serious.

The iron forgeman thumbs-up was amazing the first time I saw it. I get a kick out of it still to this day.

dont mind dusk, he just about has nothing good to say about this game. . . like, ever.

i dislike over done pop culture references.  like the second transformers movie.  too mcuh pop culture crammed into two hours.  but spaced out like all over in a massive world of an mmo?

i dont mind it at all.  in fact, i love it.

its cool to find an easter egg in a game no?  well these pop culture references are a version of easter eggs in gw2.  its personally rewarding to see them and be able to recognize the reference.

I liked an NPC named Isabeau Navarre, located over in Brisban Wildlands near the graveyard.  An obvious nod to Ladyhawke.  The other one that made me laugh was "By Ogden's Hammer, what a savings!"  (Galaxy Quest)

Has anyone started to amass them yet in a wiki?  I'd love to know which ones I'm missing.

Not really a references but in the Lava Fractal, the Shaman goes 'All God Demands Sacrifice' before the cutscene. Makes me chuckle everytime.

Also the alt ending of the Collosus fractal (also an achievement so I won't spell it out).

Also anyone who dislikes Pop-culture must really hate Family Guy.

Oh no!  I think that's one of the funniest lines in the game.  You're misquoting it, though, and I think you get the Charr's tone wrong, besides.
Asura Kid:  "Your face is funny.  It's all squished 'n' weird."
Charr Lionguard (clearly ready for anything):  "No, your face is funny.  It's like a little raisin."

I digress.

My favourite pop culture reference?  I laugh when I catch them but most of them aren't very memorable I guess because I can't think of one.

Having my ranger switch pet and say "I choose you!" was brought me back to those days when we were playing pokemon on gameboy color. Felt like it was well implemented and not too goofy = )

There also a skritt in one of the sylvari story missions thats says something around the lines of "Bring back ALL the shinies!" lol.

I love references in games, as long as they aren't over done.

The skeleton with a fedora, grabbing on to a chest in the vulcanic fractal, of course referencing Indiana Jones. Maybe even referencing a reference, since a similar skeleton appears in Morrowind.

i love the 'one does not simply go slay a dragon' or something like that, meme when you first wake up as a sylvari. gave me a good laugh when starting up the game after launch.

and ofcourse the 'arrow in the knee' joke reference in the tooltip of the ranger's (shortbow?) number 4 skill. but i think that was only there in the beta's. i found it was a great move of arenanet to put that in :D

The best pop culture reference is obviously the ubiquitous salvage item "ripped hide", and it's not-so-subtle allusion to the amazing 1984-86 NBC detective series Riptide.

My favorite by far was back when they made that april fool's joke with the Commando class.  I remember under the list of it's passive abilities it mentioned something about when it was wielding a 1 handed knife it got a run speed buff.

In other words, you always run faster with the knife.
