I noticed you only have 13k health, so you probably have a metric shitton of toughness? Because you really survive long against multiple opponents in the video.

Signet of Water / Signet of Earth are both viable choices.
Melandru set can be swapped for Dwayna (give up all the signet traits then and use the glyph heal + 30 pts in water magic), Water or Divinity, depending on what you prefer.
iirc I was using Divinity in the video.

I took skill recharge in the Earth tree due to the fact that there is so much condition removal in this build there was no need for reduced immo/crip/chill, and stack the cantrips for constant regen. Hydromancy sigil for when people get too close, and dwayna's for healing.
It's a total support build, and if I get caught on my own I literally have to hold them off while trying to shout for help, but I last long enough for backup to arrive.

I'm a bit curious about why most of staff elementalists go for tanky/survival build instead of the dps build (fire/air)
I myself am donning 25 fire / 30 air / 15 water
at the moment
not top gear at all, only got 3 exotic (Random ones too)
I try to go for the two-way AE type but now i'm a bit confused
because my attack is around 2800 crit 43% I usually hit enemies with meteor shower for 1.5k~2.5k (3~4k crit) but I've been hit by enemy's meteor showers for 7k a tick before
Would gears make that much difference? If you were to crit meteor shower for 7k how much attack do you need to have? 3500? 4000?

Because you can't contest points with a glasscannon build.

Oh nice, you have like what, +~1000 healing? How much did the passive from RestoSignet heal you for? I always go for high vitality builds but after seeing your vid I'll try out some low health high toughness high healing build myself. Looks really fun.

Ich would disable these "AOE-Target-Rings" for faster casting.

With fast casting you can never cancel a cast, and with doubletapping the hotkey casting with the targetcircle is fast enough IMHO.

I guess everyone has his own Opinion about that.

In terms of spvp or 1 on 1 I agree but in wvw or larger scaled battles a glass cannon staff build is just as good,
HOWEVER,
I am slowly getting frustrated with our casting speed and spell attack speed

Highest crit I got with Meteors was 4-5k and that's when I had ~4.390 Attack on a nuking build.
Why most Staff users go survival instead of dps? I can answer that. Staff has more CC + snares. Of course S/F also has some good CCs but if you want Frozen Ground (one of my favourite CC spells in the game) you're gonna roll with a Staff.
Staff DPS glass cannon build works perfectly fine. 2-3k auto attack crits and 4k+ meteors can be devastating. However 1.) from my experience there is always enough damage in a teamfight and 2.) if you get focused down by a thief who knows what he is doing and keeps looking for you you're useless for the whole fight.
The problem about glass cannon builds in GW2 tournaments is simply that the matches have a long duration leaving the enemies time to analyze which builds you are playing - which is great in my opinion.
So let's say you play glass cannon.
You wreck havoc in that first Graveyard fight with a Pentakill Flame Burst + Meteor Shower + Sandstorm.
Now the enemies analyze what they have been killed by and what build you are on.
The next fight - unless they are...stupid... - they're gonna instantly focus you down no matter how good your positioning is. You're gonna be the focus. Number 1 dead. You're gonna be completely *useless* against good enemy teams.
That's why glass cannon eles work well in Hot Join where there is no team communication but simply won't work in High Level Tournament Play.

200+ bleeding hits ticking for double my health really aren't fun.
That's the reason why Melandru set and Signet of Water are a must have if you have condi dmg enemies on the enemy side so you can survive longer.

However Fast Cast is an absolute no-go for Staff Elementalists (not on other classes) because you simply need more AoE control. You will never set up Static Fields as well as someone who disabled Fast Cast. Even on the Earth cripple field I often find myself repositioning it from the initial idea / location. Staff Elementalist + Fast Cast = not good. On other classes it's awesome and saves you time, I agree.

Do you think you can spend a bit of time explaining the timing of your attacks and combos that you make? I'm curious as to when you put down the static field and lava burst and what else.

You're still using the old version of the build, though?
I'm running an updated version nowadays with Double Elementals:
http://www.guildwars...tralizer-build/
This is even more sick than my old build.
Summon Water Elite + Lesser Fire for a mix of crazy heal + some dmg.
Summon 2 Fire Elementals for pure Mesmer-style ownage.
