This guide assumes you know the basics of crafting.  Material progression, how discoveries work, etc.  If you don't know these things, then the wiki article on crafting would be a good read.

The idea here is to quickly and relatively cheaply level up your Artificing while avoiding "Fine Crafting" materials (enemy drops) which tend to cost a lot on the TP.  This gives you the added bonus of crafting cheaper items for more XP and saving those Fine Materials for a different crafting profession or to sell for a profit.

All of the items below have relatively cheap ingredients, allowing you to craft at least 6-8 of them for the price it would take you to do a single discovery involving Fine Materials.  What's more, the Planks, Ingots, or Tuning Crystals can be sold on the TP (Planks/Ingots) or Vendor (Tuning Crystals) for enough to mostly recoup your expense for those materials.

Below is the list of items you will make at each skill level.  Those items colored green will stay the same with each tier.  Those colored red will upgrade based on the tier you're at (i.e. 0 uses Green Wood to make Planks, 75 uses Soft Wood)

-0, 75, 150, 225, 300: Make  Planks (Wood) , Ingots (Ore), or Tuning Crystals (Discovery: 6 Piles of Dust). Just sell the planks/ingots back on the TP, the tuning crystals actually merchant for nearly cost.

-25, 100, 175, 250, 325: Make Potions of Centaur Slaying, this requires 1x  Jug of Water , 1x Carrot, 1x   Leather Section  1x Pile of Dust.

-50, 125, 200, 275, 350: You have two options which depend on the current market as to which is cheaper. The first is Potions of Ogre Slaying, it requires 1x Jug of Water, 1x Sage, 1x Pile of Dust, 1x Leather Section. Alternatively, you can make Potions of Dredge Slaying, this requires 1x Jug of Water, 1x Pile of Dust 1x Current Tier of Ore, 1x Last Tier of Ore. So it starts out with Tin & Copper Ore and progresses.

-390->400: You'll run out of potions and such here. Just buy the 375 Carrion Mithril Imbued Inscription from the merchant for Karma and discover 3-4 Combinations to hit 400. Carrion uses Large Bones, easily the most common Fine Material since everything in Orr drops it.

Edit: Added links to each of the recipes for each item type.

Very nice job. Followed it straight through Artificer all the way from 0-400.

I started with about 3g and at the end of it I was at 55s. Selling back what you make should keep you pretty steady until the very end (unless you have the mats).

so lets say 3g for 0-400 ? really ? atm I have about 15g I was worried this is gona consume all my gold :/
How long did it take ? Also I got the same question about cooking - how much gold it cost and how long for 0-400 if anyone got any experience with it. I just like to know so I can plan things ahead.

Also I am completely clueless. Where can I buy these ingredients ? where to get all of this crafting stuff ?

I never craft in mmo's, but I want my Legendary staff so I need my gift of energy.

Any help would be appreciated, this guide is good, but as a complete noob I need a bit more help to get things started.

You can buy it all on the Trading post. Took a couple hours but I was leisurely doing it. You could probably knock it out in an hour or so.

As for cooking, I'd reference the Cooking Guide that's stickied.

Just to add to this amazing guide. I have been using 99 wood each tier, 180 dust, 60 water, 30 carrots, 30 leathers, 30 of each ore. The ores are cheaper than the sage. Start with 33 planks, make 20 crystals, 30 potions of each, repeat.

Edit: Discovered the other set of potions at the end to take me to 389. Then did 4 discoveries to 400. Total cost was around 2.4-2.6g pretty damn good and took maybe an hour total

I just did this in one hour and here are a couple tips based on the market as of this post:

I did tuning crystals up until they no longer gave exp, and never touched ore or wood, meaning I didn't stop after 25 levels, simply because it was either break even or some tiers actually made me a few copper. For instance, for the 300 tier, dusts can be bought for 22c each x6 = 1s32c and the finished crystals are sold for 1s40c.

Also the 2 ore recipe for the last potion tier is cheaper then sage + leather since sage is rather expensive right now.

Yeah I bought the dust at 24c, took a 4c loss per craft, but that's alright :)

Too Legit. I leveled 0-390 in about an hour. I'm just doing the last 10 levels but I ran a little bit low on coin so It will do for now. Thanks!

You buy one of the 375 recipes from the craftsman, and then you discover weapons with that. Inscription + weapon part 1 + weapon part 2, and that for a few different weapons (scepter, focus, etc).

Thanks for the Guide my warrior is a 400 artificer and has a nice 10 levels under his belt. I crafted on an alt so my level 80 main had a ton of material. What I did to help is if your leveling is slowing down I started to discover new potions and discover new new weapons with fine materials I had a ton of. This saved me time and money because if I had 36 venom sacks , yet im constantly buying carrots or water it's faster to just to discover a couple weapons and sell them back to a merchant. One new discovery of a weapon is about making 20-30 potions

At each of those levels you'll either have a new recipe (i.e. Planks) or be able to discover a new craft and that's what you make.  You're just making a higher tier version of that item.  That's why some of the materials are listed as red, it means that at each new skill level you have to use a higher tier material.  At 0 you make Green Wood Planks, at 75 you make Soft Wood Logs, etc.

Thanks, really epic guide!!

Tip: at levels -0, 75, 150, 225, 300 craft only tuning crystals (it makes nearly 100% money back from merchants at this time)
