Ok, the game is out and as no shock to anyone with a grain of intelligence and wisdom, it didn't live up to the full out hype blitz.

For the last few years; GW2Guru has been all speculation, over-analysis of every press release, and everyone feeding and feeding into the hype.

Now the game is released, and the groaning and complaining has the driver seat.  GW1 players miss the simplicity and buildcrafting, WoW players want raids and endgame cookies, and the console crowd thinks that 2 weeks spent on any endeavor is too long.

It's time to move past this and do like GW1Guru did and become a place for depositing knowledge and good ideas.  For instance, posts that let us know about great DE chains that yield lots of XP in early and mid-level areas, or the best route to clear (insert zone) here in the least amount of time.

Some people have been posting crafting guides and other useful things; and that's where these forums need to go.

More than anything I'd like to stop seeing a new "QQ I'm leaving as soon as I can Kung Fu Panda" every hour.

Speak for yourself, it lived up to my expectations because unlike a lot of  people I LISTEN to what they were saying and not dreaming what it would be like.

Back to topic, its way too early for this to happen. Once the initial buzz is gone, the forum will cool down. Finally, Guru2 wont ever be like guru1 because they are more  choices out there and now gw2 has it own forums, so why come here when you can go there and have to deal with less noise?

People leaving is probably the best thing that can happen to Guru.

These forums are in a transition because of the release of the game. There is just a large amount of unsettling that takes the front and center with QQ threads. However, if I go to the profession, or crafting forums for example I can find a huge resource of guides, help, suggestions etc. If I need help I can find it, and if I find something in game I contribute the best I can.

I like ANet as a company, but almost no company is going to allow the expression of free thought that we promote here.
Crafting guides, zone guides, levelling guides, and any form of information that makes the experience faster or easier is not in ArenaNet's interests.
If someone created a "level 1 to level 80 in 30 hours" guide, ArenaNet would be very tempted to remove that.

If they didn't run the same forums, I'd agree; but having an outside source not completely beholden to the company is important.

Once kung fu panda the MMO launches that should clear out most of the children from GW2... this forum might take longer.

The game is good ,not amazing but good, worth every penny i spent on it.

Wonder if guru will have a point really , to me depends on the official forums.

I always prefer the "main" forums to the fan ones , unless the "main" becomes horrible.

I wish guru would keep it's database up to date.. in gw1 had the same issue- skills were constantly changing and they were slow to reflect that in the db.. like playing with the engineer templates the other day and some of the changes in retail aren't even updated

hard to use the information if it's outdated.. in gw1 same thing happened early on- a lot of the skill descriptions were outdated.. I used to use other sites but always posted on guru because of the trade section and community

Yeah I'd like to see Guru become more focused around this aspect as well, personally. I don't mind some of the threads which discuss design decisions and the expected difficult change from one mindset to another, it will always be difficult to do for some areas and people.

However the total whine threads should stop now, and let's focus on what the game is, instead of what it isn't. Let's face it, GW2 is an awesome game, even with it's flaws and areas which need re-tuning/bugs etc. So let's push that positivity and help people to play and progress.

Question, feedback or issue? Pm me!

The Tyrian Assembly is for GW2 discussion. Not anti-WoW threads and Guru discussion.
