I actually prefer the look of simple gear on him.

head: antique gold, limette, pumpkin, salmon
shoulders: clay
chest: abyss, mahogany
hands: stone, clay
legs: pumpkin, dijon, ebony
feet: abyss, pottery
I sometimes use midnight ice instead of abyss. I can never decide which I like better.

And my magic find set has only two colors, both rare, but it works because the armor has less variety in color options and more large fields, so too many colors wouldn't work well. crafted Noble set, Night shade (dark blue grey) with Retribution for the lapels and highlights. It's a brassy gold.

For a main color, I think you may have a lot of choices open. You could continue the russet theme you have right now, though maybe look for something slightly lighter/orangier than right now, it'll echo your hair and tone down the overall brightness from your skin. If you have it, you might also want to consider midnight rose, which is a deep mauvey pink I use on my human, it'll contrast against your skin but the dark richness of the color should keep the effect from being too little girl, pastel, or neon. A third option you may want to look at is one of the medium to dark teal shades: Tea Jeans (one of the starter colors), spruce, midnight teal or similar. Maybe even hydrangea which is very blue with a hint of green. The greenish blue will offset both your hair and skin colors, without being too clashing.
From there, I'd recommend a neutral earth tone for your secondary color. Something like clay, deep maple, pottery, or saddle. I use these on lots of characters because I feel it adds a more somber, travel clothes, dusty adventurer sort of feel. The "reality is brown" trope in action. I also feel the browns can be a good way to quickly "butch up" some outfits, that's why deep maple is the secondary to midnight rose on my male human.
As a tertiary highlight, see how you like antique gold. It's another one of the starter colors and I love it as a bright yet not too bright option. It'll add a hint of yellow, which should compliment any of the main colors I suggested, without going full school bus. Combined with the earthy secondary color, the antiqued metal makes a nice accent toning down a dramatic primary.

I pretty much bought every dye mentioned in this thread to no avail. I just can't seem to make my armour look as awesome as some of the ones posted above. Anyway, I'll share what I have so far. Perhaps someone with master dye skills can offer a suggestion or two?

In the screenshot you posted, your blue and red don't work together. If you really want to use those colors together, you could try using red on the main coat (where the blue is now), gold as your trim (where the red is now), and blue on the sash (where the gold is now). Follow the same color scheme on your boots. Then you could use blue as your main color on your pants and gloves.
Sorry if that isn't helpful! It's hard to tell what would look good without playing with the dyes myself. If you're still having trouble figuring out a color scheme that you like, you may try using fewer colors or multiple shades of the same color.
EDIT:
Wow, I don't know how I overlooked your last post. I love your new colors.

Thanks!
I think the new colour scheme does work. The thing is that I have a Ghastly Bow, so it's all blue and glowy at night time. I'm not sure whether to swap my mahogany colour for a shade of light blue to match the weapon or not. I'll play around when I get my Twilight Arbor chest piece today and see what I can do
I think it definitely depends on the armour as well. For my ranger's long coat, blues and reds really don't seem to work. They just seem far too dark, and the lighter blues are too light and silly-looking. However, on my ele's clothes, red, sand and peach seem to work really really well. It's weird haha.

That armour looks awesome! What is it?
As for dyes...
Sand
Lemon Tint
Midnight Fire
Midnight Blue
Mithril
Ivory
Mahogany
Icing
I followed the PDF on the front page for a guide to good colour schemes. It's definitely worth a look and taught me about going from darker colours on the lower body to lighter colours on the upper body

It's Whispers Mask, Vigil shoulders/boots/gloves and Duelist pants/chest.

These characters are the alts I've been playing recently. They're level 16, 26 and 30 respectively. My ranger (posted above) is level 80. I thought I should share what I have so far as I don't think these dye combinations look too bad.
My asura's hood has a different shade of white. For some reason whenever I use the same shade of white, it just looks much darker on the hood, so I changed it to match it a bit more. I may have to get celestial just to match it even more.
As for my charr, he originally had red (in place of the blue) but I changed it to blue yesterday because he looked like a Roman soldier with the colour scheme.

My eyes! Oh, my eyes! xD
Maybe try 3 different colours?
I'm thinking:
Black/dark colour for the boots (where the pink is) with a light coloured trim (perhaps ivory or redemption?)
Black/dark colour for the leggings (where the blue is) with a slightly lighter but still dark colour where the pink is.
Ivory or redemption for the coat (the trim colour used on the boots, in place of the pink), with a black/dark colour for the trim.
Ivory or redemption for the gauntlets (the trim colour used on the boots, in place of the pink), with a black/dark colour for the trim.
Ivory or redemption for the shoulders (the trim colour used on the boots, in place of the pink), with a black/dark colour for the trim.
Ivory or redemption for the hood (the trim colour used on the boots, in place of the pink), with a black/dark colour for the trim.
Something along those lines. Basically, dark on the lower half of the body and light on the top half. Just a suggestion

Black/Ivory with tarnished steel as a lighter black dye.
It's kinda hard to get it right because black is so different on the different armor pieces, but I like the way it looks!
Might buy some more dyes to mess around.
Thanks for the help!

Another experiment:

It resulted in a whisper within minutes to tell me I have terrible taste..

Haha! That last bit was hilarious
Yeah, I'd say it definitely looks better! You can always try going for more colourful things as well (although maybe not as colourful as that last picture).
The problem I have is that nice-looking colours just look far too dark on some armours so you're almost forced to use white/black/grey/brown to make them match well. For example, I could never have a coat with Royal Blue or Stream because it's either too dark or too light. Maybe I'm just picky :/

Get an alt into a different order, transmute it to a white un-soulbound peice of gear, bank it and pick it up on your main. It says its soulbound but it acts as if it is account bound.
