Link to build : http://gw2skills.net...klNLXWysWbM2YDC

With this build you'll become a boon master and you should survive 2-3 people for few minutes before the reinforcement comes. Also with all of the cooldowns you should win 1v1 vs anyone.

playstyle in the tournament:

start off : with a staff, place swiftness on 4 second mark(before the battle begins) to give swiftness to everyone, the skill will recharge again before you hit your destination, with this build you should probably rush mid point ,you'll get two swiftness off and be first one there.
combat :
  • use shouts all the time, the effects do stack and cooldown is quite low
  • when there are allies around always use staff 4 when you have a chance, the might boost is really good
  • use shield 5 to knock targets and then staff 5 from keeping them from points (works well at clocktower , shield knock -> block the way to the point -> point is yours)
  • Dodge Dodge Dodge ! dodging heals you and nearby allies quite a bit.
  • remember to swap weapons when everything is on cooldown
  • SPAM SPAM 1 , every 3rd mace hit heals and rune of water heals too
  • rez and finish people off, before you do that always use stability skill (virtue of courage or Stand Your Ground)
I really like this build, did a lot of experimenting and I found that guardian really excels at team support/tanking

I would write more but I think everything else is pretty obvious, feel free to ask if you have any questions, today we only lost 2 tournaments out of 15 or so.

Edit: also remember, with this build your job is not to kill stuff, it's to defend points and your allies.

This build looks interesting for when you're actually pre-mading or PUGing with brained ppl (it'll be better if u scratch this one). Good job I'll check it tomorrow and maybe try it :)

This is a joke of a build.

15k Hp, 3 Shouts, Sigil of Hydro instead of Life or Energy.

So many holes that need filling.

This build would do horribly against any average team that can time burst decently. 15k hp and 2700 armor is pretty easy to blow through esp if your relying on 1k+ healing.

No one cares what your win rate is.

I think you misunderstood the build, this is not pure tank build it's tank/support.
To be honest vitality is pretty useless for a guardian, armor and boons is more than enough to keep you alive and you're not only taking care of yourself but your team mates too.

calling it a joke build without trying it out is just childish and if you prefer stacking hp and armor you should have rolled a warrior. I would like to see your build...

have you ever played against a burst condition team? Yes, your condition removal is good, but its the high vitality that keeps you from dying when all your skills are on cd and you have 17 stacks of bleed on you.

lucky for you, its easy to fix just by switching that clerics amulet for a soldiers. 21k just like that. Healing doesn't scale extremely well, so you don't need a whole lot in it anyway.

I get what you are trying to accomplish with this build, and I am currently trying to tweak my current Guardian build. I built it for pure support, even using Staff in the first two maps and switching to 2h Hammer on Kylo. It just doesn't work, you can put marks all you want, but they are not really that useful and provide shit healing. While, if you have a Greatsword in the back, as soon as your team needs that little boost with the DPS, you jump into action, and most of the teams rarely focus the Guardian, plus you get a very good peeling tool (GS's #5) to keep pesky Warriors or Thieves off of your Necromancer/Elementalist.

Going full support is good until you use your skills, then you're useless, there's time to support your team, and there's time to kill the enemy team.

This is almost the exact build I use for WvW, except I use hammer instead of staff for more crowd control and better chasing.

However, in tourney sPvP, you'll notice that you may die pretty fast with this build and get thrown around a ton. That's because enemies will often burst you faster than you're able to sustain heals on yourself. You need constant protection upkeep, stability, and CC to fare well in point defense, which is less about supporting teammates in team battles and more about soloing 1 or 2 enemies until the cavalry arrives. That's why I ditch a full shout build in sPvP for a bunker consecration build: http://gw2.luna-atra...u6r7g7h7k7p83j4

A combo that I think works even better than the shield + line of warding combo for keeping enemies off points is banish + immobilize + circle of warding. You'll lock up the enemy in this way for 7 seconds, and you'll still have a knockback when you weapon switch.
