I'm having great fun playing an odd spec focused on staff + water + healing.
Since I am not yet level 80 though and (obviously) water is a challenging attunement to be one's primary focus...
Can someone explain how much +power affects healing vs just +healing ?
I'm just trying to work out the traits for the build...I have more condition removal than I know what to do with, and damage is really lacking. I want to be able to heal and do better dps, and when it comes to gear (Spvp for now but i also am interested in using a water spec for support in dungeons)
it seems like you often have to choose either +healing or + power.
I guess I am wondering how much +power will improve healing- so that I can still do some dps and I am wondering how much +healing is too much as I am having trouble figuring out how much +healing is just right...
Thanks in advance for your responses.

I cannot answer specifically, but I suggest you go to gw2db.com and check it under the skill calculator.

Power effects (direct) damage, Healing effects healing.
Everything you put in Healing is not being put into either damage or individual survival traits (Vitality and Toughness both do more to help you survive as an individual than Healing.) How much Healing is too much? If you have 30 Water I don't think I'd go for more than another 300-600 on my gear. Maybe 50% 'Knight' (although that is mostly available from Karma vendors) and then a mix of Cleric and Shaman gear?

You cant do any damage in water (esp staff water)-if you really want to heal switch to water every ~35 secs cast 2 and/or 4 on the enemy,3 and 5 on ailes and gtfo of water.

To the above reply. The person already stated he or she want to stay in Water, I don't understand why there are people telling he or she to switch attuntment... you're not even answering title question.
Anyway, I sticked in Water 80% of the time and I'm not yet level 80, but I find Water survive better and I have great fun soloing or have a friend tag along. I don't find it challenging at all!! Anyway.. with Water I'd suggest you go with +Power and Precision. If you already have a deep Water Traits you will need +power for sure. +healing is more for group dungeon event if you wanna play support, but I suggest you wait until lv80. +Power also don't help with healing, its two different field.
I'd suggest you to try Dagger/Dagger or Dagger/Focus! Its a lot easier for you. Cone of Cold is one of the best Water spell that deal good damage and healing at once!! Also try Conjure Frost Bow! The AoE, Freeze help with your Water Ele as well.

How do you even manage to play with staff and stay in water to deal damage? It's so terribly low...
As for the question "Can someone explain how much +power affects healing vs just +healing ?"
Power doesn't affect healing at all. It only adds to your direct damage, which all staff water spells are, so at least that's good.

+power affect direct damage, +healing affect healing and regeneration.
there is "Rejuvenating" gear with primary stat of healing and secondary stat as power.
I usually carry two sets of gear and jewelry, one for dungeons with healing and one for regular play with power.
I play water/arcane build with staff. very good for support. though lack offensive capabilities.

this build shine on combos. shine shine shine, arcane wave as blast finisher.
water field for huge mass heal, and ice field for frost armor and protection for all your friends.
in group play, switch 'signet of air' for 'glyph of renewal' (up to three resurrections in one cast in earth stance etc.)
