Save ANet and yourself time when requesting refund:

I requested a refund because of my experiences on the forums (which was just icing on the beef cake)
But before I was really, really considering it because of:
Constant animation lag/gaps which is unacceptible for a game that is reliant on a dodge mechanic (it's not my computer or internet connection, SC2 works wonders on my computer with no loag as does Crysis 2 at 60 fps)
DEs are constantly bugged
Consistent problems with the TC
And massive culling issues
I've waited through patch after patch hoping for these issues to get fixed but it's just not happening and now they're releasing new content instead of fixing the mass problems with the old content...as a tester I know just how bad that is, that means even more complications to a already complicated amalgomation of code to sift through in order to fix the clearly inadequate coding.
GW2 was released half-finished.

While I understand that MMO's do take longer to enjoy the full experience, isn't the view that all MMO's are just a rush to max level and then the "real" game begins flawed. After all, in some MMO's like GW2, if you do the traditional method of levelling (Hearts, Exploration) it can take 60+ hours before you reach max level, and I don't accept that those 60+ hours were not the "real" game.
As for the issue at hand its all ANET's decision whether or not they want to give our refunds, and from what been said it seems they are willing to give refunds no matter how many hours people have put in. Personally, I don't believe software is the same as other products and therefore refunds should be handled differently. For instance, its been argued that bugs are expected with software (games in particular) and therefore are not a reason to ask for a refund. However as many people have commented before in this topic, that's part of the reason they wanted the refund in the first place. If bugs are not acceptable in games then for sure issue refunds, as then the product is "broken". In addition then people who use bugs to their advantage should not be penalized as the bugs should not be there in the first place. However if bugs are acceptable, then IMO it is wrong to ask for refunds, based on that criteria.

if they denied me the refund, i would have just quit the game and be done with it anyway. i don't think it's immoral to ask for a refund. as i said, in addition to the 75 euros for the game itself, i also paid another 50 euros for gems, they didn't refund those and i understand that and i'm not making any demands about it.
i didn't threaten, i didn't demand. i felt betrayed by them, in my eyes, they went against the things they stated before the release. i requested a refund and got granted one. what difference does it make how long i've played? at the end of the day, i only wasted my time and my electricity
Asked for a refund 3 days ago, they literally *ed me around with Random responses until I was a DAY After the six month period, and then they said they couldn't refund me because they "Don't have the systems in place to refund an account Six months after Purchase"
Oh Anet. Lol.

im not pleased with the turn on gear as well. But you went and throw out of the window 600 hours of gameplay and all your progress?
And what if the new gear becomes as easy to get as the exotics or even completely unnecessary..What about spvp ,the new map and the fixes on class balance that they also bring.
can you somehow reverse that?

I put in about 50 hours into this game and I've been...dissapointed. Now, this may have been because the whole notion of the game not being ready on launch and it truly being fun and exciting months down the line (this was the argument I was given whenever I said I didn't like the game). But I'm just not feeling the game right now. I have no goals, no objectives, nothing to look forward to or anything. But enough of that, I didn't come here to debate the ethics/morality of getting a refund.
So, now that I want to get a refund; what can I expect? Will my GW2 account simply be wiped out? Or will I be able to return to it a few months (or years) down the line? Meaning, will my characters be deleted, or will I be able to return to them? Anything else I need to know about what happens when you get a refund?
Thanks!

Logic tells me everything will be wiped. You're returning a product, I'd be surprised if ANet archive your account.
I can't believe people are still getting refunds to be honest. Especially if you've put in 50+ hours. I gotta give ANet credit for that. You would think they would draw the line at some point.

This seems crazy.
Personally I got my money's worth easily within the 1st week since release and everything past that is feels like free entertainment.

Thanks for the answer!
But imo, you can't compare 50 hours put into an MMO to a traditional game. 50 hours put into a game like Assassins Creed 3 (just an example, but you can substitute almost any other console game) is well beyond game completion.
Whereas 50 hours put into an MMO is barely scratching the surface of almost any MMO. In reality, I haven't even touched even 10% of the game yet. So does any reason for wanting a refund work? For example, I would likely put "Dissatisfaction" for my reason. Or are they picky about it?

From what I've heard, you're reasons stated should be accepted. Others in this thread have successfully received refunds for similar issues. ANet seem pretty lenient in this regard.
Just follow the steps in the OP to speed up the process. Good luck.

FotM is awesome. Difficulty resets every week. There's NOTHING treadmill about it any more than say starting a different character. In other words, it's just an option and if you crap on other people's options, you've got issues.

Decided to submit the request. As expected, more than 6 months (even though 5 of those months were unplayable), so no refund.
Game uninstalled (well, deleted), anyways, and this is my last post here. Good bye.

I have not finished the game as I have been progressing map by map totally exploring one before moving on.
doing the storyline as and when I finish a map I do a few of those missions.
Exploring new classes doing a bit of crafting and so on.
Gave up on dungeons and wvw till problems are fixed so not had any frustration there.
Everything I have done in the game has worked except for a few minor problems.
Result GW2 has been a 90% positive experience, it was 98% positive till lost shores but hey Halloween was good.
Anyway I suspect lost shores and ascended gear were rushed in as a reaction to players having finished the game content far ahead of time.
It could have worked but seems to have annoyed those who had worked like mad to get legendary gear..
Oh well all that will be sorted well before I get to it.

On topic: kudos to anet for their above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty customer service.
See, that second point you made, the so called "great" customer service, is rare. A ton of people (myself included) have had nothing but poor customer service relations. So much so that I filed a formal complaint towards them.

People do can get a refund under that rule. I don't think you can apply for it though if you didn't buy the game directly from buy.guildwars2.com

As per the European Union's laws, you have 30 days (referred to as one month) to request a refund for entertainment products. If you bought the game at launch, your right from direct stores to ask for a refund has been lost.
Sorry to bring the news, but I don't want to set you on a never-ending course.

Actually, you can get a refund up to 6 months back. And as stated before 'bait and switch' tactics that was used are agains't US and EU laws so you can get a refund based on that after the normal 30 day period.
