I think there could be an argument for a refund at any time  based on there being a problem with the product that was impossible to discover any earlier.

Most of the laws relating to faulty goods assume you can fully test those goods fairly quickly.

By its nature a complex game like this may well take well over 30 days to discover the problem.

I doubt this has been tested to any extent though, pretty new territory for the law.

Happy to keep playing myself so good luck whatever decision you make.

You do realise the oficial forums will ban for even the smallest things right? Criticism is one of then, even if it's well worded.

maybe i would be pissed if i were a hardcore wvw player but i dont care much about that mode..now in pve i couldnt ever get why someone would need ascended unless he wants to run fractals..in wich case he will get them by playing the game mode he likes anyway.
In short i care more about the pvp balance changes the make lately than a pve update

As per the European Union's laws, you have 30 days (referred to as one month) to request a refund for entertainment products.  If you bought the game at launch, your right from direct stores to ask for a refund has been lost.

Sorry to bring the news, but I don't want to set you on a never-ending course.
Yeah, the guy at Gamestop told me that too. Or rather, first he told me that it was impossible, but when I asked to see his manager he agreed that there was a 30-day limit. But I figured that maybe there's a way. But I don't think so, anymore.

Thanks, anyway.

Actually, you can get a refund up to 6 months back. And as stated before 'bait and switch' tactics that was used are agains't US and EU laws so you can get a refund based on that after the normal 30 day period.

I tried that some time earlier with a game I bought one month ago and was SP only, but they told me it only applies to the Netherlands, which surprised me because I live in Holland...

If you purchased Guild Wars 2 Gems from the Gem Store and would like a refund, please do the following:
  • Open the Ask a Question tab above.

  • Select Refunds from the Issue Type drop-down menu.

  • Enter a valid e-mail address and let us know in the Subject field that you would like a gem refund.

  • In your submission, please provide the following:
    • The amount of gems purchased.

    • Your billing zip code or postal code.

    • If the payment was attempted by credit/debit card, please provide ONLY the last 4 digits of the credit/debit card used.

    • If the payment was attempted using PayPal┬«, the invoice ID or transaction ID from your PayPal┬« payment history for the transaction.
Note: If you have used the purchased gems, you may not be eligible for a refund.

Got my refund. Took less than 24 hours to boot; same day refund.

Anyone hear of consumor responcibilities? Do your research before buying a game.

I did.  I researched extensively.  Check out the thread on quotes from arenanet that they've gone back on.  I've considered asking for my money back just because they're not sticking to that freaking design that I researched to death, not because of the trivial amount of money, but because I'm pissed that arenanet hasn't stuck to their design and philosophies and is caving and catering to mmo whiners that should be playing panda.
