Also, the hammer you are taking about is there, it's called Juggernaught. There's no preview of it yet though. Even if there was, you probably wouldn't see the special effects it has until someone makes it in game.

You could be right, will probably get twilight and juggernaught for my asuran guardian.

Not really liking any of the Legendaries except for a few.
Was hoping for an awesome staff, but the legendary is pretty bland.
The one-handed sword looks like a rusty stick. Since it's called Bolt (I love lightning) I was really looking to this weapon...=/
The focus is way oversized and looks like it belongs in a science museum.
I've seen the dagger model in the database and it's probably the most ridiculous looking thing in the game.

The only legendary that really does look legendary are the two greatswords (likely the ones almost everyone who wants a legendary will be getting /yawn). Looking forward to getting Sunrise for my Guardian... and maybe Twilight for my Warrior.

Edit: Oh and yeah. The longbow looks pretty nice for a sylvari ranger.

Again, just wait till you see them in game. Apparently the staff is supposed to have ribbons (for lack of better word) constantly flying around it. The Bolt will have little lightning bolts around it. And the dagger will have flames shooting out of the burner on it (check out the icon for it) Remember that those previews show the item sheathed, so the particle effects aren't there.

I knew from some time ago how they looked and I never really liked them, None really suit my style and for the materials involved I can safetly say I will sell any sellable items I have collected now. I have over 250 Unidentified dyes over 100 of each lodestone in some cases more now infact I probably have easily 70% of required materials and nearly all the gifts.

Still that would leave me at least 2 weeks of TP playing and grinding to get the rest, Ow well sitting on nearly 300 gold now and probably easily another 300g in materials time to make some cash Corrupted weapons are far more my style for the character I have.

Wow, so much work to do. It got me, that's a thing I could slowly work on for years now (like I did with the obsidian armor in gw1^^). If only the skins were better. I like the Flameseeker Prophecies (I also really want to know what the inscription says, I'm relativley sure you can translate it^^) but than there are only great swords that look incredible to me. Is it me or are the designers great swort lovers because in each single weapon skin category the great sword always stand out from the others in skin. And here it is the same: Not only that the great sword(s) is/are incredible looking (imho much more than most of the other weapons) no, there also 3 legendary great swords compared to 1 of each other weapon. I don't know but it's a bit disappointing to me (also because I don't see a character of mine that gives a good match with one of the great swords :X).

Good work everyone who took part in creating the guide!

I really like that legendaries in this game take time to obtain, otherwise they would completely lose the "legendary" feel. However, not all skins are very impressive, unfortunately. Hopefully there will be skin updates in the future, to make them stand out even more in a big crowd, especially in WvW!

If legendaries were about stats, and stats only then I'd understand the poor design. But when a game is mainly about what your character looks like then it's a huge disappointment for me to see how little thought was given to most of them. With those looks Bifrost could easily be any low level weapon and the colour choice on Ministrel just makes me want to puke. I like the design of the spear but I just can't see myself spending countless hours to obtain an aquatic weapon..

Me again, with some questions now.

1. Are the stats in the startpost right? More than maxdmg (wtf?) and extremly bad stats? So you have to use a tranmutation stone with an exotic weapon to make the legandary useful? -.-

2. Are all gifts bound on account or souldbound? For example: Can you craft a Gift of Metal with another char, that have weaponssmith 400? And have the gift of ascalon to be obtained by the same character that has tailor 400 and also crafts the legendary? Sorry for the confusing writeup. I just wnat to know if I can run AC explore with one char to obtain "gift of ascalon", take that to another character that has tailor 400 to craft a gift of history that a third character can use to craft a legendary weapon? Or are all gifts (or some of them) soulbound (that would be completly retarded imho)?

ok so to clear up a few questions people had:

• GW2DB is updated with the newest data, so the recipes are correct. Some of the stats on our legendary items are a bit off, but this is due to them using a formula for those, so its not immediately obvious to us when they change it, we'll be getting it fixed
  
• Alot of these items do look much cooler in motion. The bifrost has a really cool pulsing rainbow effect, the kraitkins snakes move and contract, and almost all of them have secondary effects. Some of them change your footstep effects, some of them change your projectiles, some of them have cool particle effects. We are working on getting some nice videos of them in players hands so you can check them out
  
• From what ive seen of the data, the stat multipliers for exotic and legendary are the same, but those just multiple on whatever base stats are on an item. So fi them item has higher base stats, it will be better than exotics. So it doesnt really contradict what anet said.
  
• We still arent 100% sure how all of these items are bound. The data isnt clear on saying account/souldbound, and most of these items havent even been found by players yet. As we find out more we'll update the guide

Any photo/video of Bolt in action? I'm using Glyphic Sword, which looks ugly on previews but cool on use (it generates a light edge around it) and I would like to see how does the lighing look on that legendary . And it's me or it seems more vegetable than circuit-like?

You know, legendary items aren't for the stats (they were never meant to be), but for the skin... so investing all the resources you will need to get Sunrise, and then using Transmutation to change it skin would be a complete waste of time :S You can always use Twilight which is darker and way cooler IMO (there is a video of both on youtube, already posted in a comment here).

Trying to figure out why I'd want a very offensive weapon, that has power and ...toughness? both bows, 1h sword, dagger, greatsword, pistol, rifle, axe, torch.. at least as far as i know, have been mostly used in offensive-type builds. throw vitality out the window for me too. Give me an offensive weapon with the right stats.A shield with toughness and vitality, okay, that makes sense. A mace (at least in the Guardian line) with toughness and vitality, again, makes sense.

If I were to spend the time and effort to get one of these items, it darn well better have the stats the weapon SHOULD have, to me it sure seems like a bunch don't.

I have to be missing something here..

Well, transmutation stones are for you. Losing one point of bonus to attributes and small increase in weapon power range isn´t such a big deal, at least for me (well, someone will say something about being at disadvantage at (s)pvp but none of my problem).

Welcome to the world of guild wars. The game (1 and 2) are only about skins on items not about stats. That has been the case for over 7 years now and hopefully never will change. A lot of people love this (more or less) unique system. If you do not, no one would hold you back playing another game.

I'm with you on this one. So.. I get a cool looking item to stand around -WHERE- exactly and look cool? That's another thing with this game, there is no normal social hub either where everyone seems to gather around. Even if they did, "hey, your weapon looks cool, but you're a fool for using it in the game because you're gimping your own stats".  For all the time and effort that goes into crafting those items, I'd at least exact them to have the RIGHT attributes and maybe even a cool bonus feature.

However, all in all.. I am totally underwhelmed with the looks of gear/weapons in this game..I hate to say it, but even as old as WoW is, their gear looks better, and Rift as well. For a game that so many proclaim as not a stats-based game.. you'd think that GW2 would be WAY over the top in looks.. sadly, not even close.

I think the gear in GW2 is one of the most detailed and best ive seen in a MMO. But yeah, spending 1000h + to get a skin ? Good luck hehe. I play games for fun and to challenge myself.

The stats are based on the base weapon (the exotic one you throw in the mystic forge to get it), so you can use a transmutation stone to put the exact stats you want on it before you turn it into the legendary.

IMO, legendaries should have better stats than exotics, and if you don't like the weapon skins then you can always transmute. Even if legendaries only gave me +10 extra power or whatever, I'd still farm for them, because every extra point counts. With how much time you spend getting them, it should be the way I described TO THE LETTER.

Ugh i really hope that the image they have for the Quip is wrong.... or if it at least has a really awesome animation. Looks like a piece of crap kids toy..... ill probably just switch to my mesmer and get the sword i guess.
