Its true, most of the medium armors are the same looking. Even the hat is used in more than one set.
I think the two best looking ones, are the tier3 human armor and the whispers' female armor.
If I make a ranger female then these will be the ones I get.
There is also a leather one however I'm not sure if it is drops or karma from orr.

What's the name of this set?
I'm 80 lvl and I haven't found a set with a good skin. Right now I'm using the Krytan set.

To each his own. I love every medium armor in game, and hate 99% of the heavy armors.

As far as I know, it is not possible to 'buy' different skins for your equipment in this game.

Okay I know I'm weird I love the trench coats, they look classy to me. For me I'm so tired of the short mini skirts for light class myself.

There is nothing wrong with liking the trench coats. There are some nice trench coat designs. The problem is that's almost all there is. Almost every single armor is a trench coat design or a tunic/skirt type design. No Shorts, No Mini Skirts, No Short Skirts, 1 Universal Tight Top, 1 Human Only Tight Skimpy Top and the rest are trenchcoats. That's far too many of one and not enough of the other.

As for mini skirts there is 1 Light Armor mini skirt and it's the starter skirt. You then get a few mid thigh/knee length skirts and the rest are floor length skirts. Again too many of one type and not enough of the other types. Also no shorts here and 1 pair of genie style pants.

While it is true that we have many long coats, there is still short and medium length options. While I currently use the heritage set for a bandit/highwayman RP concept I have plenty in my bank to transmute from (and I forgot to add in the following picture 2 very nice and sexy short jerkins). Looking like a ninja is a no-no for me, I play a West style inspired game, not something asian!

Are those super hot? I dunno, I quickly previewd what my low level thief had in her bags, play with colors and they can be striking! This is just basic boring.

and you will look almost the exact same from the back, you know the view you see of your character throughout 90% of the game. I should dig out the images from the back that I did...matter of fact...

Armor from behind...
Spoiler

Notice that if these were silhouettes they'd almost all be the same or with a very little amount of difference for most of them.

I find that the only armor I wear for more than a few minutes is the vigil skin.  It's really the only one that actually looks like a medium armored fighter.  The trench coat look would have been nice for a half dozen skins or so.  The other options for male thieves would be tier 1 human or noble's armor - both of which are nice but look more like town clothes.  I'd really like to see some more options that actually look like leather ARMOR.  I find that I am also missing the slightly "skimpy" armors for the male from gw1 like the exotic and luxon shirts that showed a little of the upper body on the assassin.  If I'm going to be doing gymnastic flips in the air then something a little lighter just seems right.  It's not that I don't like a trench coat or two - it's just that they are overwhelming.

I hope they add more armor skins in the gem shop. I'd like to see the ranger druid set from the original guild wars.

I really want this badly for guild wars 2 or something similar. It is one of my favorites from guild wars 1.

ROFL! It looks like she was in a hurry and forgot to put her top on :) Personally I prefer real clothing and armor instead of bikini, even the half-boob set is plain stupid imho. A tight leather show belly top ok but bikinis? Huh I'm just happy for transmutation.

I must ask - what type of boots is she wearing and where can I get them (because they look awesome)?

(Yeah, i registered just to be able to ask this; I´m nothing if not cyber-vain!)

GW1 had alot of good Ranger armors.

I made my Ranger a female norn because I liked T3 armor, and got it. Though, I do really really like human t3, but not really Rangery.

I find it ironic that the thread title is "WTB Better medium armor skins" when essentially there is a better medium armor skin...in the Gem Store. iseewutudidtharanet

At 500 gems, it's not that expensive compared to some other armors, even at the current gem for gold prices.

And yeah, it looks amazing on my female norn.

Skins in GW2 are mostly bad unless you're lucky to find a good combination.
It's pretty disappointing really, they went too far with "fantasy" design but in the bad way.
For instance, maces.
The most widely loved one is the spiked mace, yet the game has NONE of them. 50 maces and none is a good old spiked mace.
Let alone unicorn bows, flower bows and other idiotic skins. Bleh.

Skin-wise GW2 is more akin to Hello Kitty online, almost nothing looks badass or fearsome.

They should have hired the armor/weapon artist from Aion, now those were good looking skins.

There are non trench coat medium armors.  The duelist armor for one, the order of whispers armor and there are a few others but I happen to like most of the medium armors in the game.  They are fitting for rangers and engineers, not so much for thiefs though.  And if you're lookuing for a sexy armor, invest in the duelist armor.  It looks great.  It's not letting me post a photobucket pic but that armor is really nice.

There's nothing wrong with liking the current options.  However, for all intents and purposes, there is only one basic style - the trench coat.  And not everyone likes that.  If I'm going to stare at my character every time I play, I want him to be aesthetically pleasing.  With multiple styling options for different tastes.  Please forgive me for wanting to see clothing that is tailored, profession-oriented, and God forbid, shows a bit of skin.

This is EXACTLY how they did GW1, and its EXACTLY why people that played GW1 loves it. Not for the overly fantasized armor and weapons. Guild Was has always been a more realistic based game when it comes to armor and weapons. Obviously they spice it up by putting unique skins in there, but the majority are not something that you'd find in a typical Korean MMO. If you want a game that has gigantic armor, and gigantic shiny weapons, then go play another game, because this game is far from that. VERY far from it.

That's exactly what I was saying man.
I want more realistic stuff, knighty plate armors, assassin outfits, realistic weapons, etc.
I don't mind fantasized version as long as there are realistic ones as well.

In GW1 a Warrior could wear some great armors like Primeval, 15k Plate, Knight's... and use realistic battle axes such as Victo's.
Assassins had all kind of shady outfits, Eles had some good non-gay wizard robes too.

I had an hard time trying to make my thief look like a Thief, and I'm still struggling to have my Warrior and Guardian look like a realistic knight.
I really like spiked maces and there is none. I like realistic longsword, there is none.

Maybe with time we'll get all this, I just don't get why in GW1 you looked like this:

And in GW2 you look like this:

Well, seems to me there is a perfect option and solution to your problem, that is if you're a Human, T3 Heavy is 100% Knight armor. Could take awhile to get for some, sure, but it'll be worth it for you at the end. And there are swords and shields that are realistic, so I don't think those are a problem.

I think the WTB better armor choices for characters goes for both Medium and Light. I find Light armors rather boring too, and I really miss the mesmer armors, ritualist armors and necromancer armors from Guild Wars. I'd pay real money to get the necro, mes and rit obsidian armor for my light characters.

I find that the medium armors have nothing in the middle. I feel either you choose trenchcoat or you choose overly sexualised korean armor.

With light I find that EVERYTHING is robes, it looks like EVERYTHING is made for an elementalist... And even the one armor I wanted so badly for my necro I can't even get in PvE.

I hope in the future they will add more options. And I actually hope they will add more armors from Guild Wars.

Armors I'd like to see in GW2 from GW:

Add Ranger Obi to that list too, by far my favorite armor for my ranger then.

Ranger looks like a hobo half the time with rags for clothing. hehehe

I do hope they add in more armor skins that is obtainable thru gem shop AND armor skins that is obtainable killing stuff or doing dungeons. I had the impression that the game would focus on aesthetics and a lot less on gear stats.

People still have to remember, this is still vanilla. No expansions, nothing. So I'm sure we'll get alot of new armors when the first expansion comes out and beyond that.

GW1 ranger Elite studded armor, including the short skirt, please. Though I'm enjoying my thief's Assassin (tier 3 cultural) top with duelist everythingelse and the noble mask (ocular eyepatch). I prefer the duelist pants and boots over the assassin stuff, though.
