I find it minorly annoying that, much like other biographies, the warband you made is pretty much forgotten 1/3 of the game. The way the selection in the biography made it look like he/she is pretty important to you, but somehow you leave him/her as you go to the order kinda sucks.

Also which warband member did you pick? In my main I picked Reeva, since I like outgoing, fun characters, but Dinky has a soft spot to me too.

Well, at the start the story kinda revolves only around you. You are all that's important. As you go through your story you kinda get past your own selfish personal problems and get involved in larger things. Events that shape and affect the entire world. And those events make your own personal stuff irrelevant. From that standpoint i'd say it "feels" right. It would certainly be a nice touch if your warband would be mentioned from time to time. (maybe it is but i havent heard anything so far - lvl 50)

I chose Dinky. Not very bright, he was the smallest cub, but makes it all up with heart. I love the guy

The real missed opportunity is not using your actual warband for the elite skill 'Summon Warband'. Or so I've heard, I'm yet to unlock a single one.

Still, why bother giving us a choice over 2 of our warband members when they're not going to use that in any way?

My female ranger picked Maverick and my male mesmer picked Dinky.

*All* of your non-appearance creation choices are virtually irrelevant for 2/3rds of the game. Warband choice is nothing special.

I'd assumed that by the time you got an elite skill, your warband was simply large enough through further recruitment that it simply wasn't viable to keep tracking them by name any more.

Really, I think charr actually got a pretty good deal out of the sparring partner choice - from what I've seen, even if it disappears after the first 30 levels, it still has a bigger effect than the equivalents for other races by a large margin.

A lot of sylvari and norn NPCs from the first couple racial chapters reappear - Ferghen seen at the beginning of Honor the Spirits, the crafter seen at the beginning of Defeat your Ancient Foes, Romke's spirit (his legacy dealt with in Lost an Heirloom), and Havroun Grechen from Defend the Mists all appear later on at Pact related things. Similarly, Occam from Green Huntsman, the two sylvari from Act with Wisdom (forgot their names) as well as the mirror, the Statics krewe member (forgot his name, the guy who named Shrieksy), Deborah (lost sister), and Kekt (from DP lvl 30-40 storyline) also reappear.

Other NPCs reappear too - many just to serve as cannon fodder, sadly. But I don't think I've seen a single NPC from the charr storyline reappear... Which I find odd. And only the one from human storyline (make that heard of - never saw her myself).


@Drax: I never saw my warband exceed 4 individuals (myself, Clawspur, and two blokes I recruited during Ash Legion storyline).

The call warband elite skill calls generic npc of the legion you choose, sadly not the warband you created.

ANet needs to add 'side stories' that is mostly character development and such for our warbands. Imo.

Not just warbands, but all lvl 1-30 introduced characters. A "side personal story" would be much appreciated for that. Delve into the characters more, and they would be influenced by the preceeding (read: lvl 1-30) personal story steps.

Returning to Ascalon for a short bit and meeting up with your warband.
Meeting up with Farren/Quinn and Riot Alice/Petra and Andrew. Researching more into your dead parents' lives, or the missing sister.
Joining your old krewe for another experiment.
etc. etc. plenty of possibilities. Plenty of threats left unanswered.

I miss my warband.

They shipped me off to the Vigil and I had to leave Reeva behind. I don't want to go save the world, I just want to go back to serving the Iron Legion and putting up with Reeva's terrible cooking disasters.

You can recruit Snarl and Galina from the Iron Legion personal story and the modified Ghostbore weaponry for the retaking of Claw Island as one of the choices.  I almost didnt recognise them until I noticed the Ghostbore cannon.  They are the only Charr from the early personal story that Ive seen return.

Having said that, using tech that my character invented to take back Claw Island was a really nice touch.

Oh also, although its not far into the game and I havent seen her since, Lady Wi from the Party at Minister Wi human noble personal story mission turns up in the Order of Whispers stories.

Im hoping we will see some of the early story characters return in later content.

I thought those two looked familiar - it's been since the first BWE since I did Iron Legion plot, so I forgot them. They return in Orr itself as well during one of two choices to take out one of Zhaitan's big bad troops (and everyone you work with at Orr, that survives, will join you in the final "real" personal story step - the one before you're just told "Go kill Zhaitan!" which is in a dungeon).

Lady Wi suprised me.  I remember talking to her at the end of the mission in the noble story line and she makes a comment about knowing the bad guy was shady all along because of his shoes.  They are too fancy for a man of his means.  I was like 'yeah right lady'.  After I ran into her in the Order of Whispers missions I was like 'Oh...  Maybe I should start paying attention to shoes.'
