They nerfed all xp and gold from speed farming dungeons, not just cof (obviously the main reason they made this move). But it seems tokens still remain the same as there's no mention.

I think the solution is to only give tokens on the first run of the day and drop the prices for the gear. That way all the dungeons are used.

I really hate to admit it, but THIS ^^ Is the best post today. 1 set of token per day PER Explorable Path.

Please make it say, Anet.

I still think ANet dropped the ball on their "endgame redesigned".  Whether you don't mind grinding, or absolutely hate it, no one actually likes it.  Luckily, they seem to have nailed PvP.  Unfortunately I'm a PvE'er, and the game has lost its appeal quite fast.  Good thing Torchlight 2 is out in a couple of days.

@ OP Ive been thinking the same thing! Everyone running around with full sets of CoF totally devalued the gear for me :/, but I totally understand why people do it, Path of Least Resistance and all that. At least its not game breaking!

Hmmm, not sure about that.  I'd rather grind for a couple of hrs and actually be rewarded, than being limited on how far I can progress toward an item on any given day.  This would just make building a set take a really long time.

And then there's people like you and OP, who likes dictates what's fun for everybody else. But this post was just a; QQ I cant  join runs cause I don't have what they req. Which is fine, really. I used to QQ too. Best thing you can do if you wanna do dungeons and you don't wanna grind is to join a guild that does them for fun(since I mean, other people who do it otherwise can't possibly have fun can they!?), and go from there.

Firstly they nerfed dungeon rewards, second there is no QQ only in your head, third were already in a guild that plays the game for fun, not to grind something a million times and try restrict others gameplay. You have fun with that.....

-Can't farm gold/magic items efficiently due to farming limit
-Can't farm dynamic events in Orr due to karma reward getting nerfed after a few DE
-Can't farm dungeons anymore for gold due to new system they put in
-Everything end game requires immense amounts of farming these three things

Why did 1 run = 1 item go by the wayside, again? I'm reasonably certain I could still dig up a developer blog post where they announce that concept because farming dungeons for tokens "isn't fun." How, then, did we come back to people farming dungeons for tokens?

The reason I hate this is because it doesn't become fun anymore. It's also unfair to people who can't play everyday. There are a lot of people who say "ok, lets run this dungeon a lot today cause I can't for the next couple days".

Or...I don't know...you could just play to have some fun? With friends? The long-term goals would be achieved over time.

Naw, never mind. These games are meant to be completed in a week, so then everyone can complain they are too short.

They designed this game with things that take a long time to get, which makes them meaningful...and they designed around people PLAYING, not farming or grinding or whatever shortcuts people usually ride to death in other games. If it's fun for you, play it... if not, probably best to move on.

If you want 42k karma armor from the Orrian temples you will have to grind Dynamic events . If you want legendaries you will have to grind dynamic events and  dungeons . They are nerfing all the rewards into the ground when those rewards are the only things left to do in pve once you reach level 80 and have 100% map completation .

I wasn't even aware, nor cared, that people were running CoF over and over :D I was busy 100%ing the map and exploring.

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that farming got nerfed though. Not one teeny tiny bit.

Then don't 'grind' the same chain over and over and you'll be fine o.O I've never hit a karma cap, and i do events all the time. Admittedly i only have about 80k karma at the moment, but i spend it quite a lot (master salvage kits, random armor pieces and weapons i like the look of ect.). You must be seriously grinding an event to hit the karma limit.

Also, I find a good WvW fight with supply camps swapping hands very often is an amazing source of money, karma, and exp. But i suppose that's not a great help if you decided on going for a high population server.

I do think actually having a dungeon finder would spread out the population a bit anyway. People are running dungeons because it's so hard to find groups for others! I'd be very happy to run some AC explorable or TA explorable, but finding groups is too much effort :P

You totally missed the point of what I was saying. If you are just enjoying the game and having fun with friends...It's not a grind.

People who feel a need to min/max everything and have all the rewards in the shortest possible time are going to be pretty miserable in this game...the most efficient route in this game is to enjoy the journey. Scary stuff, I know.

Not necessarily. Especially with dye you can make a coherent set with pieces from different sets. Personally i think it can even look better than whatever the art design team has come up with as "sets".

Like I did in GW:

The "problem" is that running the same path over again penalises players too little to give them enough incentive to run the other paths. If one path is twice as fast and easy as the other two paths, and gives 2/3rd of the reward the only paths would give, then what reason do players have to take the other two paths over the fast and easy one?
The other "problem" is there is too many dungeon tokens required to the good stuff. If ArenaNet wants players to do all 3 paths they have to up the rewards for running all 3 paths regularly. For example give a few 100 bonus tokens every time a player finishes all 3 paths in a dungeon.

Mixed armour can look very awesome... you just have to find the right combinations.
I only have Sorrow's Embrace top, combined with regular karma vendor leggings, crafted pair of boots and HoM gloves. Looks great.

I do think the token prices are far too high. Youy have to run a dungeon 20 times to get a gift for legendaries. 20. two-zero. Just for one item. It takes a good 100 to get a full exotic set. That's an insane amount of time.

I know those sets are the 'elite' stuff only the most dedicated should have, but come on! You can't seriously expect (let's assume speed runs die horribly, and runs take about 30 minutes to 90 minutes in explorable, so an hour average) someone to dedicate the playtime of a couple of traditional RPG's spent grinding a dungeon just to get an armor set. Especially when, back in t' day, it was definitely said that one run = one item. Unless we're counting the potions, there's something wrong there :P

Although it is more generous than many MMO's with relation to time put it for '1337' gear, so it's kind of hard to know where to put it. It certainly wouldn't seem all that amazing if someone could get it in about 6-10 hours of dungeon play though based on current difficulty.

Maybe that's the solution? Make explorable so difficult it would make Angels rage like a 10 year on on xbl, but make it so the people skilled enough to complete it don't have to do it much at all, just one run per item?

Even better! have a really difficult 'hard mode' which rewards 10x as many tokens for completion, bringing it much closer to 1 run per item, but make it really really difficult. So lesser skilled players can grind for a reward if they're not otherwise good enough, while awesome players who are good enough to take on the truly difficult content can play.

I dont think that the dungeon armor set supose to be easy to get. It was meant to be a long term goal, but, man, people want everything on the plate, considering that those armor are just for vanity. You can craft yourself the best armor and enjoy the game...

If it was supposed to be hard to get they'd make it so players could afford a full set of armour after running all 3 paths once.
Stuff taking ages and too many runs to get =/= Hard to get. It just takes long, that's all. No difficulty involved.

I've done my fair share of CoF farming, have a full set of CoF armor sitting in my bank, don't really like the skin very much just got it because of collector purposes + some extra gloves/boots/shoulders and helms for transmutation purposes just for the stats really, saves wasting money crafting/buying exotics.
I've made a small fortune from CoF farming, from the money you get at the end + selling all the rares I got from drops.

I am getting sick of every time I look around I see someone in the armor, it is alittle sad tbh.
I do a couple of runs every day (8min-10min) just for the money really not hard to do is fast when you have a organised group who sync well together.

What journey are you talking about? I can complete my world map 100%, play every exploration dungeon path in every dungeon once with my friends and get to the highest rank in sPvP/WvWvW. That still won't get me a single dungeon armor piece.
So yes, sooner or later there will be a time when you think about farming to get the set.
And if you don't, great, but people who like the skins might want to farm them.
I'm not going after legendaries because the legendaries I could use look awful, but someone who likes them needs to farm for them or else he has to "play" and twink the game for two years in order to get that one item. And nobody is that stupid.

That's plain nonsense. After so many years of working for Blizzard and other game companies and now having extensive experience with GW the ANet dev and design teams SHOULD know the social variables and how people work. What's happening now is very, very predictable.

Using exactly the same grind mechanisms (do the same not very challenging things a lot) as any other game isn't what I expected from ANet, who in fact did a remarkable job with GW. I hoped they would make things more challenging but also more rewarding. Or cluster a number of dungeons that reward the same armour sets as rewards. Whatever. But not this.
