"Thank you very much for letting us know about this! I brought this up with some of the designers, and they believe they’ve fixed the issue. Is there any way you could confirm this?

To those hoping to get legendary precursors through this method, it has either been removed or drastically reduced to get the chances of getting it. The remaining weapons in my account shall remained locked till I figure out what to do with them.

I am very pleased that the game is a better state for now

No it didn't, you had a small chance of getting them, but it wasn't 100%. This really needs to be clarified, otherwise a lot of people will be unhappy when they continually throw in rares expecting a legendary precursor.

I'm wondering if this applies to exotics as well, or only the rares? I would assume it's only related to the rares judging by his post.

I thought that was intended, since the guide for legendaries posted that the possibility of forging a legendary base was through either 4 rares or exotics.

Alright, last night's post was about me making at least 900+ gold off the TP (my screenshot had 750G in my bank), but I'm now currently sitting at 100 gold because I bought off the TP's dawns/dusk because of this exploit (I have in total 15 GS precursors).

This method goes like this

1) Craft 2 Godskull GS + 2 Carrion Krait Slayer (rare), 2 65s + 2 80s = chance for exotic. Any 4 rares in the past can upgrade to precursors. I also believe that creating dusk/dawn is related to time and not random. I kept getting dawns in the morning and dusks during the night time. I have no clue about whether exotics now can change into a precursor.
2) It costs 60 silvers when I initially crafted it. I can sell the exotics that I get for average 3.5 G even at 20% chance. You can't really lose money.
3) If I get precursor, immediately profit 50-100 times by selling it at 60-70 G.

I was sickened by the players' attitudes who were trying to profit from people that I immediately started undercutting people by selling it at 60G and then buying all the remaining people's 80-90G dusks/dawns to prevent monopoly of the market. The 100G weapons are out of my reach, unfortunately.

Fair enough.  Prices are going to go up now I guess, unfortunately.  Here I was thinking I could wait until they were the last component I needed

What you should do with the last precursors you have is fund some kind of competition.  A great race, SS  contest or a riddle contest where you have four random items in your own 'Mystic Forge' recipe and people have to decipher your riddles .

Wait wait wait...so now you are saying it is not possible to craft legendary pre-cursors at all via the Mystic forge?  What are we supposed to do then?  Just wait for a world drop & or save 1000g now that no one has options?

Everything else up until this change made legendary weapons possible to obtain.  If we have no way of crafting them whatsoever that could very well make me quit altogether.  The price of these weapons is going to skyrocket 10 times & be out of reach for 98% of the population.

I want a official post on this from A-Net tomorrow morning.  If this is true & this is the approach they are going to take it may very well mean uninstalling.  I dumped everything I have into crafting a legendary since launch, with the knowledge that I can craft my own legendary prerequisite as long as I am persistent only to be told, umm yeah were going to make it a world drop only & add 1000g to your grind as that is what you will have to pay to get one off the TP.

This needs to be addressed immediately.  Also if this does go live, individuals who have a prerequisite in their possession & all profit made by making them needs to be reverted.

Which is why I state I'm locking it in my bank until I decide what I want to do with it. I can only try and sell it cheaper to the players who worked hard to earn 60+ g and sell it at that price. The others are trying to push up the price upwards... and I'm certain that Anet will make sure a craftable prerequisite will happen.

Yes, like 8:00am tomorrow morning.  Crafting a legendary "IS THE END GAME" for many in GW2.  Meaning this would completely change the game as we know it.  Made another post related to it because quite frankly people need to start getting vocal about it.

If it's true its getting a bit tiresome with them making things harder after other people have already got the rewards the 'easy' way.

Like removing tonnes of karma mats for cooking screwing those who didn't get it to 400 yet, upping the price on the armor/weapons but not removing then from people who've already bought it, lowering the amount of dungeon tokens dropping after people have already farmed sets, and now this rumoring that you can't mystic forge the pre-ledge weapons = anyone who hasn't already bought one is screwed?

Surely not...

Not quite sure if OP's implying you can't mystic forge it at all or if you can only forge it with exotics rather than rares... either is kinda annoying considering people have already acquired them via this method.

Correct, I "monopolized" the market and am now considering whether I should give them away to random players. Right now I'm at work, but to be honest, I could have easily kept quiet about all this and have no need to explain myself. Take what you want from me. This is my first MMORPG, and I'm just utterly disappointed as to how things turned out (including how some users think I'm one evil person).

Someone should make a thread about this on the official forums, there's a higher chance of receiving a statement from Anet about this there than here.
If this is true, there will be a mad rush of people buying out the legendary precursors on the TP . I have my doubts that this may be the original intention of the OP.
It'd be best to wait for an official response, or for someone to test it out.

I don't expect an explanation from you but obviously you have good intentions if you understand that the recipe was breaking the economy. So basically I'm to understand it like 4 rares gives you a chance at the legendary precursor much higher than was intended?

Well we can commend you for that.  Thank you for bringing this to everyone attention because quite frankly who knows how long it would be before A-Net actually said anything.  I've spent ALOT of money trying to craft one of these weapons (Used 20 greatswords in mystic forge so far & have nothing to show for it) & come up empty handed, & probably would have continued to do so had I not known this.  Hopefully this sparks a huge wildfire of debate & provokes a official response because prerequisite weapons should have a craftable recipe that gaurantee's 100% success.

Even your pinned legendary guide tells you how to get the legendary precursor, but no one actually bothered to report your esteemed guide writer or make noise about it. You are angry because other people got to take advantage.

Im annoyed that the trading post has been made useless by taxes and exploits, plus it being down for weeks broke the economy. Im annoyed that core mechanics of the game are still broken or bugged, im annoyed arena net lies when they said they would not release the game until it was ready, im annoyed that there are loads of exploits left in the game that shows the testers must of been asleep while playing. Im annoyed iv been lied to by support team about replacing my lost pre order items, im annoyed about many many things about this game. It has become such a long list no post would give it justice.

Now we all get screwed because a minority of players decided to take advantage of the situation and your one of them and you expect everyone to love you all of a sudden because you spoke up? I don't think so mate. I hope you get perma banned with the rest of them.

the legendary guide writer was reporting legitimate methods he found on how to obtain legendary precursors to the community, while you are saying that you've reported an exploit in the system AFTER you've profited from it. Not even close to being the same.

I don't particularly care you that you profited so much out of this exploit, but going around posing as some white knight and thinking you've made the game a better place is just stupid to me.

Mmm, I am getting confuse here, as far as I knew, and reading "crafting legendary guides" , it was said that there was a change to get the legendary precursors from "rares", now you are saying this is gone? or that it was an exploit? Yesterday I spent lot of money in rare greatswords and crafting rare greatswords, and was trying to get a Dusk or Dawn in the Mystic Forge, but I didn't get anything, all I got was another rare greatsword... or you are lying, or something, otherwise I would have my legendary precursors by yesterday, or ArenaNet removed the possibility to get them with rares? because was an exploit?

So, what is going on? while I didn't see any official info from ArenaNet.
