*I am not asking how duration stacking works, that's pretty self explanatory. I'm asking about how damage values are considered for conditions that only stack by duration.*

So, I play an Elementalist and I'm a little confused how burns and other conditions that stack in duration as opposed to intensity work. I understand that with bleeding it stacks in intensity, ie. the more stacks you have the more damage it does per second, but what about burning or poison?

Say I cast an 8000 damage over 5seconds burn and then someone else casts a 9000 damage over 5 seconds burn on the same target, will the 2nd burn effect just increase the duration of the first one or will it increase the duration and overwrite the damage? (As in, will it take the increased duration as well as replacing the lower value)

There really isn't that much clarification on how it works >_> All the tooltip says is that it stacks duration with nothing in regards to how damage variances affect the effect. Would be grateful for any help ^_^

Edit for clarity :D

Someone can correct me if I am wrong. But I believe the damage is the same overall, stacking duration resets or adds on the the current length of the condition. I can't remember correctly, but I believe if one person sets a mob on fire for (just as an example) 5000 dmg over 5 seconds, and after 3 seconds someone else casts the same spell on the mob (5000 dmg over 5 seconds) the condition duration would reset to 5 seconds duration. At the end it would have lasted a total of 8 seconds dealing 8000 dmg.

Ok so i did some looking on this so called internet, and found the following:
http://wiki.guildwar...Effect_stacking

In short:
10 seconds of regeneration are applied to a target. 3 seconds later, another 5 seconds of regeneration are applied to a target. For the next (7+5) 12 seconds, the target will experience the effects of the most powerful regeneration stack

However for boons and conditions:
When a boon or condition stacks in duration from multiple sources, its strength is applied in the order of application, using the relevant stats for each source. For example, a stronger stack of poison applied over a weaker one must first wait for the weaker stack's original duration to expire before the increased damage takes effect.

Erm... that's not what I was asking >.< I even gave an example with different damage outputs. I want to know how it works if two people cast two burns that have different damage outputs on the same target.

Example:

Player 1 casts a skill that causes burning for 5k damage over 3 seconds.
1 second later Player 2 casts a skill that causes 8k damage over 3 seconds.

I know that the duration stacks (the remaining 2 seconds becomes 5 seconds from the new skill) but does the higher damage number override the first (the 5k becomes 8k for the remaining 5seconds) or does it stick with the original number even if more powerful burns are applied.

I know about this thing called the internet. The reason I'm asking here is because I couldn't find anything on this so please don't try to be demeaning when you can't properly comprehend my question.

All I needed, thank you.
