well the dwarves have always been able to walk in stone form It's just that all most of the dwarves think about is destroying the destroyers and thus have retreated to the bowels of the earth to fight them. as for the skritt I think you need more then 3 -5 skritt to make them intelligent enough to be a pc and if you use more then 3 - 5 you lose all individuality plus it would take up to much space with a horde of skritt running around and it would f*** up the hitboxes pretty bad.
Imagine a horde of Player Character Skritt zerging DEs and spamming local chat though.
It would be impossible to stop laughing.
Giving them plenty of combo field racial skills would be neat as well.
Utility skills that let them call more Skritt, Sigils that synergise with nearby Skritt and stuff like that.
there are plenty of chances to use the PVE skill and event system to characterise Skritt.
You don't necessarily require multiple Skritt, the fact that you bump into and run around with other PCs or NPCs could be enough.
Considering the average playstyle of GW2 running from waypoint to waypoint doesn't require many Skritt .
I don't know if it's the Engineers slightly tedious starting underwater combat but I have not yet warmed up to the little Quaggans and so far the only thing I really remember about them is their incredibly sedate voice and how boring they seem.
