Combat Mode 1.0

With the press of a button turn Guild Wars 2 into a true action experience. It displays a centered crosshair (23 available in 1.0, with adjustable positions) and moving the mouse now turns your character and camera. When ever you cast a spell or action it will temporarily lock on and perform on whatever is underneath the crosshair. Left Click auto attacks, Right Click dodges & Mouse Scroll can be assigned to whatever you want. (all can be changed) Your movement and targeting will be as intuitive, fluid and accurate as an FPS Bringing up panels such as Inventory, Map, Hero, etc will toggle you out of combat mode and give you your cursor back.
Video Demo of 1.0[3]
Lugos mini preview[4] (of beta 0.2, lots of bugs fixed since then)
Features:
  • Crosshair targeting
  • Eliminates Tab & cursor Targeting
  • Eliminates the need to hold down Right Click to turn the camera
  • Gives you 4 extra, easy to press, buttons to keybind (+ 12 modifiers)
  • Left Click, Right Click, Scroll Wheel (and their modifiers) can perform actions (Such as a spell, Dodge, weapon Swap, Auto Attack)
  • Seamless intergration with GW2. Opening panels such as Inventory and Hero Panel will switch you out of Combat Mode
What else is Combat Mode useful for:
Disabilities & Injuries (such as missing fingers, RSI, Carpell Tunnel): There is no need to hold Right Click any more. Adds 4 easy to press keys to the mouse. (+12 modifiers) Adds an easy to press key to the keyboard.
Vision Impairment: The default cursor can be hard to see in the midst of combat (even for people with unimpaired vision). Combat Mode always sets the cursor to the centre of the screen, with the option to display large and bright crosshairs.
Xpadder / Game Pads: Combat Mode is the perfect solution for people who use gamepads. Simply select a button to be your Combat Mode "Toggle" key and away you go.

Heres a response from ArenaNet Dev:[5]
3rd party programs ARE ALLOWED. If they don't automate, bot, alter game files, give an advantage or effect other peoples game.

Combat Mode is still in development. 1.1 will have almost identical features, but with a few extra things to made the mod easier to use. Including, 60+ crosshairs, User interface to adjust crosshair and keybinds, and bug fixes.

Excuse my ignorance, how does this tackle placement of AoEs? I get a feeling that moving out of "combat mode" will be necessary to perform more strategic placement of AoE skills, and that classes that benefit from this the most are Thieves and melee-oriented profession builds. Saying it provides no advantage would be foolish. I'd like some input from the PvP crowd on this program, if possible. Atm I have mixed feelings but I'll give it a go.

The one thing I didn't like about GW2 was the combat system, I much preferred TERA's... but my prayers have been answered, thank you!

Underneath the tab targetting system gw2 is actually an action game.Weapon arcs ,hitboxes, projectile collision
all these are already there :)
I wished this mode was the default of the game ..its more convinient anyway in many cases.

edit:whats up with the melodramatic music in the 1.0 video preview??It is a bit weird :P

Very cool. Much preferred Tera's combat to GW2. Unfortunately, I see this giving you a little disadvantage in some PvP situations - mainly if you're playing a ranged spec, but we'll see.

In Tera, for ranged/placed spells you pretty much have to be aware of your range and the direction you're facing. But this isn't that, so OP, is your hawt new combat thingie setup similar like that? I'd love to try it, but I'm an Ele.

Also, I think it would be great if you made it so holding down mouse1 kept using autoattack like in Tera (yes I realize you can turn autoattack on, but it's not quite the same).

For the Aoe types, your AoE is placed right where your target reticle is (you turn on fast casting AoE). Thus, you just point at where you want it and bam.

You do need to know the size of your AoE though (you won't see the big circle).

Once you get used to twitch combat, going back to the ole, "stand there and tap 1-4", is a total snorefest. And yes, this is coming from a girl! =P

I don't even know what to say I'm so enthused about it, just whomever made this; you are just pure awesome. Even if it doesn't work out that well just yet, I hope this gets things rolling.

Trying it out immediately!

I actually prefer the way the normal GW2 combat is, mixing FPS and MMO doesn't work for me ;p
But after saying that I praise the genius of this mod, alot of people will love it.

Set your resolution to windowed fullscreen.
I get a little yellow circle instead of that big one in the video though.

According to the reddit, the crosshair can drop your fps a bit when it is drawn (you can turn off the cross hair by going into the customize text file and putting a ; next to the lines dealing with the crosshair being drawn to turn it off).

But, OMG I am loving this so incredibly much! Amazing job whomever made it and thanks for posting the link to it OP!

Now I don't have to hold down right click all the time :D (I was always confused as to why Anet didn't have an option for this in the first place... and still am... hopefully they will take the amount of people who enjoy this into consideration and create an official option for it in game)

I tried it out just a short while now and I really like this opion. Finally it might be fun to use Engineer nades on land!
Anet could have done this in-engine, but alas.

Got a 6-8% performance drop from changing fullscreen to windowed fullscreen.

Didn't notice any tangible FPS drop from the crosshair itself (default crosshair).

First impressions: for the most part, no problem using Thief's Infiltrator and Guardian's teleport to port over obstacles and access higher elevation on Khylo map. There were a few times when I had to deactivate combat mode for a split-second, in order to place my AoE spell correctly from "bird eye view" camera. I can't say for sure whether it's a matter of getting accustomed to addon, or simply inherent limitations of it's design - I intend to use it exclusively from now on, and figure out it's kinks before drawing any further conclusions.

The good: loving it so far, more freedom of movement and unified targeting system.

The bad: not sure how it will blend in with target calling/promoting in a team setup, especially given how many ranged skills can be used in full 360 degrees for as long as you have a target and are in range.

The ugly: might get banned for it, not too likely but theoretically possible.

PS. Need more input on "the bad".
