You can see the pipe, from which the flames come, so it's definitely a flamethrower.
I'm curious though, how did they create things like that (and the rocket launcher)? We (humans in RL) had invented them in the first half of the XIX. century, and the Charr is at the XVII. or XVIII. century in technological level.

You know in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy when the dolphins and mice are actually extremely intelligent? It's like that in GW, but with oversized kittens.

go red engine?

Naw, Thalador, Charr aren't humans. They don't have to follow our invention timelines.

After second glance maybe he is just going to throw it as a stick for the effigy thing at the end of the trailer.  "Sit Boo Boo Sit"

Same here, I never was excited to play with a Charr in GW2 but after all I've seen, it's the race I'm more excited about, to play and to see how they've evolved for the last 250 years. :D

Actually, the Byzantines had simple flamethrowers as a naval weapon, and they got beaten in the XIV.

On land, admittedly.

It's quite interesting, I never knew that.
A little nitpick: they were defeated in the XV. century.

Back on topic: Falmethrowers are going to be an attribute of gunner? So:

Pistol Mastery
Marksmanship (yes, it would be shared with the Ranger attribute) or Rifle Mastery
Flamethrower-Mastery?
