ok I have been scanning the wikis/forums etc and cannot figure out the time span between several key events here O: I am trying to base some artworks on this so I need answers

Consider our charrs being young adult/middle age at the oldest, would they have experienced the foefire in their lifetimes (of course not remotely near it or they would have been killed)? It seems, going from the personal story/starting area alone, that the foefire event (where the charr armies in ascalon were wiped out and the humans turned to ghosts) would have been somewhat recent? With all the ghosts making such a mass attack on them now.

Did the iron legion build the black citidel before the foefire? During the war? After the war?

If anyone has some answers for me I would be very greatful

It happened sometime after the exodus from Ascalon in GW1.  Not tremendously long after, either.  The ghosts just keep re-materializing every time they're killed, so it's a bit of a perpetual siege the charr are under now.  It would probably be safe to assume they build the BC (as we know it today) sometime after the Foefire.

The Foefire occurred in 1090 AE. That's 235 years prior to GW2. Charr lifespans are roughly the same as humans, and it's been 3 generations between GW1 and GW2 adult generations (Gwen is said to be Logan's great grandmother - there's a few other similar comments that denote that only 3 generations have passed since GW1).

The ghosts have been around for a while.

The Black Citadel was built 22 years after the Foefire.
